Steve Jobs & iPhone are nowadays misunderstood. He was not an innovator in tech (it was Woz & iPhone team) but an exceptional marketer. iPod was already there and Phone was the obvious next step and people were already expecting that. In Phone also, touch was also there even with Nikia, there were pens to do the touching. What iPhone did was removing that touching & make it through finger on technological side. But that was also not sufficient, Apple launched iPhone with operators with operator lock-in to make it cost-efficient for customers. He was able to pull that off because he was very influential in Tech industry and kind of created PC/Mac industry along with Woz & Gates (in a way).

Nokia touchscreen phones came with stylus and were resistive in nature where as Apple revolutionised touch screen phones by launching capacitive touch screen technology. Steve jobs was a visionary who could predict what customers are going to need in future.
