You are absolutely the Best, thank you for your great videos,,,,so happy I found the mitten one,,,,I love the shorty sock❤️your friend in knitting Nancy
This is such a great tutorial! I’ve watched it a couple times already. Can you imagine trying to understand the chaos that is a Latvian braid from a book 😱. Thank you so much, you are a wonderful teacher!
I’m just going to take a minute share your lessons on all of my social media platforms, I truly have difficulty following tutorials and comprehending patterns but you totally unravel all of the mysteries I haven’t been able to cypher! Thank you immensely Professor and of course I still love all of my other instructors who got me where I am thus far!
This is lovely . We are always referring back regardless as to when your tutorials were filmed. I love selbu mitts and appreciate this Latvian braid tutorial.
Wow, no amatuer tutorial here! Beautiful camera work and editing, excellent lighting, no - ZERO - rambling. None of that is easy or quick. You are a delight to watch and listen to, and I'm so glad I found you. Big thanks.
Wow, finally found you! Great in every way, you are so calmly aware of our learning needs in this daunting area of knitting. Great to see your ‘glitches’ and repairs. Thank you.
Wow I am so impressed, I love your class, your voice is so clear and calm and your are able to give very good explanations! This is the best video knitting instructor I have come across, You have inspirited me to keep knitting, and for sure I will be following you!
Hi Jean, Thank you soooo much for saying that!! That means more than you can imagine!!! I"m thrilled that you enjoyed it and found it helpful! Putting together these tutorials is such a joy to me and the feedback has been incredible!!! Thank you so much for watching!!!
Hello my friend!! It's ready!!! I'll send it via email this evening. If it doesn't go through then I'll add it to my channel as an add-on the mitten tutorial. I hope you find helpful!!!😊
You are an excellent teacher! Thank you so much for demonstrating and including the details of knitting these mittens. There are a lot of patterns that just give the charts so it is so helpful to learn how to actually work the different parts of the mitten. I also love your enthusiasm for knitting which I share with you!!
Thank you so much for your time and sharing. You are terrific ! Great work. Great teaching. I absolutely love watching you and learning from you. Karen
Hi Karen, Thank you soooo much for watching and your lovely comment!! This makes me so happy to hear and makes every moment worth it!!! I love to teach and this is the perfect medium for me! Again thank you!!! This has made my day!!! 😁❤️
Absolutely amazing video! The clear video, the pace, your way of explaining and your understanding of what many other videos lack for beginners is just perfect. Thank you!
I am beyond thrilled. I just ordered the Sweet Nectar Pattern to do your knit a long with Treehouse. I will be watching your video over and over. So many thanks and love to you.👏🙏🏼💕🌻🇨🇦
Hi Joanne, Oh I'm just as thrilled as you are! Thank you so much for watching my podcast, for your lovely comment and for joining the Knit-Along!! Rachel and I are so excited to share our love of mittens and knitting with you all!!! ❤️🙏
Hi from Japan this was very helpful my 1st time to see using 2 circular needles making mittens I'm interested in Latvian braids recently and ordered my book few days ago. Thankyou 😊I subscribed and I have channel also 🎉
Your idea of showing everything helps me in some way everytime! I am always looking for ways to improve. The insight you provided this time was awesome. Just an oversight I have been making for years and I'm sure many others make too. The gaps at my thumbs are bigger because I start at the far right. I had not taken into consideration that you have already knit across when knitting in the waste yarn! That adds an extra row and makes closing the gaps at the corner very messy. Thanks again for showing everything! Excellence is in the details!
Hi Denise, I am waiting for the “add-on” that you mentioned a couple of days ago. In the meantime I re-watched your Mittens tutorial. What a great job you have done. It is so generous of you to take time to help us. It is obvious that you are all about encouraging us to find the enjoyment that you have found in knitting mittens. 💕
Hi Bead-trix, I am really trying my best my friend to get this video to you. I have tried sending it via email twice and it is not going through. I will try one more time and if it does not work I will try to come up with a Plan B.
Thank you soooo much Cyndy!!! I love to teach and I love knitting. This is the perfect medium for me to share both!! Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment!!! ❤️
I am a continental knitter, but used to be a thrower (not that many years ago). So theoretically, it shouldn’t be that hard for me to learn to knit stranded colors with both hands. However, it feels daunting. I’m fascinated watching you do so!
I just found you and love your videos!.....and you have the perfect voice for it.....it is so soothing and calming.... I have learned something from each video I have watched....this tutorial is great!.... I am knitting my first pair of Selbu mittens and am loving every minute of it!.....thank you for your tutorials and podcasts!....🤗
Hi Becky, Wow!! Thank you so much for your amazing comment!!! It makes me deliriously happy to know that people are enjoying my podcast and even better, that they are learning too!! Thank you so much for watching!!!!! I'm so happy you're here!!! 😊
I am a new subscriber. Thank you so much for these tutorials! I am an experienced knitter, but I am always ready to learn a new technique. I appreciate all the work this takes and your enthusiasm!
Welcome Sue and thank you so much for watching my podcast and subscribing!! Making these tutorials is a labor of love and the response has made every moment spent so worth it!!
Hi Colleen, The needles and yarn depend on what pattern you are knitting. The designer will make suggestions and list what the sample is made from but you must check your gauge.
Love that you are taking the time to help new mitten knitters to achieve success! Your video is clear and well explained. I understand the copyrighted pattern concerns but I have not been able to succeed with the decrease shaping at the top of the mitten and can’t find a demo of this part of colourwork mitten. My first Selbu mitten is stuck at this point. I am using Magic Loop. At the Intersection, after knitting the pattern across, I decrease one stitch (K2tog), knit the middle of the intersection, then have to ssk with the last stitch of the row and the first stitch of the next row. GRHH! Haven’t been successful with Magic Loop method for this... Do you think that two needles (your style) would make decreasing easier?
Oh my friend I'm so happy to help you with that!!! And I thank you so much for understanding the copywriter issue. If you can wait just a few days more days, I'm working on the second of a pair of selbu mittens now and I will record that step for you. some things are hard to understand when in written form but I'm sure you'll get it when you see it!!! Can you send me an email, earthtonesgirl@gmail.com, so I can send you the video directly. And can you tell me which pattern are you working on? And it truly doesn't matter wether you're using magic loop or 2 circulars.. It will still work. Hang in there...😉
There will be no ripping!!!! I’m going to record it today and hopefully get it sent to you by tomorrow... I might also contact Ellie, Skeindeer Knits, and see if it would be all right with her if I recorded that portion and actually published it. Stay tuned...
Thank you so much. I prefer to use a cable cast on instead of a backward loop. It's much neater, the stitches are not as loose and it is easier to pick up stitches if you are knitting a regular thumb.
Hi, love ,love ,love the mittens tutorial! I also have learned to knit with the 2 seperate needles !thx to you.. Question:will you be making more mittens videos? I hope so..they're my NEW JAM!! Are there any FREE mittens patterns available? THX U..luv ur videos and work!

Beautiful mittensI've never done an afterthought thumb, never even thought about it. I love it. I've never liked the cast on version in my socks. Is there a time when we wouldn't do that? I can't think of one, but then I didn't think of doing one either. 2021 is my year for mastering color work, just finished my first hat. The back tension was fine, but my stitches (holding one color in each hand) was not the same. I'll be casting on again today to make a pillow that I can just keep going on (could end up being colorful. lol )something I can just work on tension. I think I will try a Norwegian Thimble. Any other suggestions?
The best way to master anything is with tons of practice. I would try as many methods and techniques until you find what works for you. That's what I did and what I always suggest!
@@EarthtonesgirlPodcast That is what I usually do too, just like getting other's opinions. Do you happen to know how to avoid a "seam line" when knitting color work in the round when changing every round? Can't find that online anywhere?

Yes, you can use a pencil, highlighter, highlighter tape, a magnetic board to mark the row you're on or cross off the row you just finished.
