      I just visited the Edison's Menlo Park lab recreation at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. I highly recommend it to everyone. In his 80's Edison recreated his Menlo park lab at the museum to include all the shelved bottles of chemicals, elements, powders, etc into it. Probably 500+ jars and bottles!! It's very impressive, and it looks like Edison had the no stack, one-handed rule too. The lab was lined with shelves across every perimeter wall up to ceiling. It made me think of Casey's studio in NYC, Tom Sachs and of course Van Neistat's spaces.

    As others have said, a longer more in-depth video (or a series of videos) on your organizational thought process is much needed.

      No, it’s not. Organisation of stuff must follow a few simple principles, that’s the whole point. After that, the only person who can really organise your things is you.

    When at work and can’t find your chisel or whatever: don’t go look for it, but start cleaning up your mess. Takes less time, you’re guaranteed to find back your tool and a fresh start as a bonus.

    good lord what an absolute banger of a video. it's a true revelation to see someone take organisation to a next level while yet keeping things small, understandable and personal. absolutely agree on the talismans - espescially rubber bands are under-appreciated by society as far as i'm concerned. I always have a rubber band wrapped around my lighter, so by default i carry both a lighter and a thick rubber band.

    I don't know what it is but something in these videos has such a different vibe to it than all other things on youtube. Van talking about any subject is so on brand and authentic that it makes me think this platform is not just full of people making life seem easy or trying to sell me something. This just feels like a genuine and honest approach to all these subjects with so much work put into them that I feel blessed every time a new video is uploaded. Thank you Van for these awesome videos and please never change your style for anything. :)

      @michaelvossen7253 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I found the hardest part of organizing your home is getting your partner to agree on how to organize it. We have compromised by cutting our home into equal pieces.

    • @bitrudder3792
      @bitrudder3792 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelvossen7253 - Whatever works, right??? Have you two looked at Clutterbug categories? It’s like a clutter personality assessment of individual preferences overall, and/or in particular categories.
      Everyone falls somewhere on two measurements:
      How much they need/want to see all their stuff out vs behind doors, in clear containers vs opaque containers.
      And
      Do they want to store things in very discrete categories vs general ones, like:
      “Toys” vs “action figures”
      “First Aid” vs “band-aids”
      “Cleaners” vs “glass cleaners”
      Etc.
      Strategies are available for each style, and for some things it’s just easier to accommodate the person who wants to macro-organize in plain sight - ideally in a dedicated container.
      The most helpful thing about this (to me) is understanding that it’s ok for people to be mentally wired in different ways.
