This video shows how to clean the bugs from morels and cut off the mold. I then show how I fry them in butter. Morels must be cooked because are slightly toxic if raw.
Going to make mine tonight using your simple recipe. Mine are smaller from northern Minnesota and I think, minimal bugs or slugs. Like the simple recipe!
I've never seen morels that big. Always been hopeful but I loved hunting these in the spring as a kid. And you clean and cooked them just like my parents did for me as a kid.
Enlightening! I thought you were supposed to remove the stems. I'm about to stuff some with cream cheese and Panko breadcrumbs, coat them with the breadcrumbs and air fry them in my oven. Bon Appetit!
I haven't come across any in decades, today there were a few in a forest clearing that I cooked up as advised, pretty good and now need to search for more!
Be sure to always dump the water where you found your mushrooms and leave the roots in the ground they will grow there again if you don't a lot of time they won't be there next year
Thanks for the video. I found 14 lbs of morels yesterday and I don't know what to do with them all :-/

Thank you so much for making this video! I found some in my yard and had no idea they could have so many bugs inside- or that they are toxic raw.
They look so tasty
Hopefully one day I'll get to enjoy fresh morels

New sub here. Bought some morels at local farmers market (kuna Idaho)... can I saute button mushrooms with morels?
I found some big ones this year the only thing I do that is different is some fresh white cornmeal and then don't use salt when soaking my mushrooms

But doesn't salt bring out MORE water?
Thank you
Is there any reason I actually shouldn't eat the bugs cause doesn't cooking kill all the bugs? They couldn't be dangerous or anything right
