Baptiste Yt thanks for the nice comment!! I know you French love Morels!!😋😍 I love the mushrooms you talk about, we call them black trumpets in America :)
As a contemporary fan I love this classic throwback journey to the squad classic gerongaise. Advice on time of year to start a forest fire for these mushrooms?
Looking back 3 years as a new viewer, wow the foods always been great but you’ve really managed to just let your personality explode into the newer videos love it
If you use a mesh or netted bag to hold them the shrooms will drop their spores as you forage so it helps spread them around. Make sure you save some for the Squatches! I love foraging! Especially shrooms, greens like nettles and fiddleheads and I've even foraged my own 🐌
It doesn't matter, they throw around 400,000 spores when they emerge. And they grow differently in different regions. I live in northern Michigan and they grow for many years in the same place. Our season is usually mid April till end of May and they're done here.
2 years ago in Kansas we had a bumper crop of Morels. My buddy and i found 60lbs in 4 hours and the next day found 40 more pounds in 4 hours. We had them all sold for $30 a pound in about 3 hours. Over the next several days we found about 50 more pounds until the big rains came and flooded them out.
10 years ago i lived in Oklahoma and found over 100lbs in few hours. Side creek that ran into the Canadian river.... 2 weeks later found 40+lbs at a golf course. ✌
Great video. Love (not sarcastic at all) that you indirectly showed and stated (may not have realized it) numerous morel foraging secrets that nearly all mushroom foragers I've met would rather loose an appendage than reveal. I Like this guy. He just wants to teach people. Thanks!
Also a new viewer seeing an older video for the first time, but I have to tell you I loved the section on gathering morels up in the mountains and all the nature shots. I'd love to see an episode almost like primitive technology but for cooking, gathering (some) ingredients in the wild and cooking a meal there, appreciating the atmosphere (hopefully not starting any wildfires). It definitely shines through in this video how much you appreciated the experience, makes me want to go out and do some mushroom hunting!
I just discovered this channel recently like spring of ‘22 and am now working my way back from the fridge abuse era watching these older vids… so cool to see that dog as a puppy lol. Had to comment just because of that. What a little fluffball dude… also it’s morel season where I live now, so this is awesome. I’ve read so many different approaches to cleaning and cooking them, pretty much just gonna take Sonny’s method as gospel at this point so I don’t have to look it up again every year. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
You can also make sure your mushrooms are cleaner when they go into your choice of picking container, ie. if you were selling them, buyers don't buy them if they have stems/stipes on them. I would never sell my mushrooms and love having them around all year (two years ago I picked 62 pounds!). A lot of people received Morels gifts. I don't use a knife anymore when picking. I "pluck" them with my hand and the head comes off clean. What stipes I get I have with scrambled eggs and toast (yum!). A spring meal: Steamed nettles, Morels, spring potatoes and Halibut! Awesome video.
I made this for my family tonight with some homemade bread. It was delicious, thank you! I grew up hunting dry land fish. This was the first time I didn't fry them up with some corn meal. The flavor permeated the pasta and my family loved it!
i am lucky enough to be in an area they are picked so getting them fresh every late spring is an anual treat. they coincide with spot prawn season another delicacy.
Dude this old format was so much better than the current tik tok stuff. You don't need to say rosemary salt if you know you know in every single video or sgt Gilbert every time. This was a much more mature format that makes me want to repeat the recipe.
Dude you did all of that with a bionic arm. Unfair advantage! That looks great. I’m going to make that with some store bought mushrooms and let you know how it came out! You are really good at this....
Thanks Keith, yeah this will be great with any mushroom, Just make sure you get them nice and brown with some oil before adding stock! I know I know it’s not fair with my arm!! 👍
I feel you man. I was busted up as most loggers were, in southeast Alaska. Back in that 70s show man. I was hit by a log, man. ...I know, feature that. A logger getting hit by a log? Busted me up good, man. Now I love to cook because of dudes like you. Peace out and "Far Out Dude " keep on truckin'
I used to fight wild fires for the forest service and rappelled out of Idaho everyone would pick morels every time we find them and we saved them to add to our camp fire meals we Cooke on the fire line. I also had surgery on my wrist like that. I’m curious if they numbed you up before they pulled the pins out. They didn’t numb me up and after 4 pins pulled out with pliers it was the second most painful thing I’ve experienced. Lol good times.
I finally got a morel. My son and ex-wife picked it fresh today. Yes, it is hallow inside without any little critters inside. I watch your video to make sure I cook it correctly.
You guys in Colorado just know your food Chef. Sorry about your cast, hope you get better, but keep cooking. From Chef to Chef. The love for food will never die
If you're skipping the parsley since you want to taste the morels, then I don't get the truffle oil, it's so similar and it will conflict your model flavours. Fantastic recipe and video rho
Yeah, was slightly confused, especially with the amount. The aroma would be quite overpowering. Though I can see a few drops being more on an enhancer.
Recently tried a gnocchi made with morels and it was delicious, had know idea they were by product of forest fires . No wonder then they are so expensive in my neck of the woods. Great video. Thank you.
Glad I ran across this vid. Now THATS what I’d call a romantic dinner for the wife and I. Little fresh pasta with morel mushroom sauce, a side of baby greens salad with a tomato slice, salt, evoo and a round of fresh mozzarella topper and of course MY own main ingredient… *Some Barry playing the background… Ahhh yes, love is in the air, thanks for the great idea brother!
Great show !!! I’m green envious looking @ those Morels 😋😋😋😋😋 We share lottos of technics !!! Approaches . I can tell by your fridge this are the early days 🙈🙈🙈👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙 Keep it up & I hope many more Sponsorships coming your way 🤙🤙🤙
For morel lovers try to develop a taste for other mushrooms instead of morels. Because of the heavy metals it collects its best to leave them alone. Native people did not eat these mushrooms.
You are doing it the right way Dude. Molto bravo , hai fatto bene. However, I would not suggest Parmiggiano for that delicate and (expensive) mushroom. Try use Pecorino or Sheep Manchego . You may like it better.
this professionally shot video where the side camera man cant stop shaking looks like shit and your static, camera videos where it feels like its just you look at lot better.
I love the feeling of gathering and cooking my own wild food!! Anyone else love to hunt for their food??!! let me know in the comments!
Yummy !!! That Video is very cool
In France , we have blacks mushrooms and their Name is "Trompete de la Mort"
Good Luck for your arms
Baptiste Yt thanks for the nice comment!! I know you French love Morels!!😋😍 I love the mushrooms you talk about, we call them black trumpets in America :)
Yes I pick morels every year
Know Your Land is all about foraging! Yes, I forage for berries, mushrooms, herbs.
As a contemporary fan I love this classic throwback journey to the squad classic gerongaise.

Don’t think the mesh bag really matters here. These only grow like a year maybe 2 max after a fire.

You plated the pasta as it should be, spinning it into a ladle! It looks wonderful! 👍
It’s the only way with long pasta!!! 🍝
Indeed!!
Older video but I remember hunting for and foraging morel mushrooms in the 90s

Bro killer video and I’m in it! Pasta looks fire
Yeah buddy!! Let’s get out again soon!
I think that fridge whipped your tail lol glad your ok
Sonny deserved it. He bullied that fridge for years.
You should use Morel oils.
thanks!
hallo you got it!👍
what brand of Truffle Oil do you use Please?
dang look at what great condition the fridge was in back then
I don't see how much parm in the recipe.....1/2 cup??🎉 ❤ can't wait to try it. We found morels in PA today 😊
We Italians use cream!
WOW! Superb!
nice idea
thanks!!

Next time don’t need your cheese and till you shut the flame off All of your cheese is going to stick to the bottom just a tip
Damnnn I want to come mushroom hunting out there! I’d be finding 100lbs instead of the normal 10lbs per season
I’ve heard several of the top chefs in the world say that truffle oils is the worst thing in the world
That black pepper is an imposter. Where's Sgt. Gilbert 😭
I'm looking at the finished result and tasting beef.
Dudecancook is awesome. Cooking with Sonny was equally awesome. Thanks man
Oh yeah. Fuck yeah 😂😂😂😂
Is that why you always elbow the fridge?
Had me until the truffle oil. Good recipe overall! Dry sautee was helpful.
Was the bobblehead thing the painkillers talking? Hahaha
I think i already like ur channel
Sean Purce Welcome aboard!! Thanks Sean 🙏
@ThatDudeCanCook HI Sonny, what part of Colorado is this? Awesome recipe!
Great recipe! But metal tongs on Le Creuset???
Wow really delicious recipe. New subs here. Lets stay connected. Tq
I’ve gotta quit watching, I’m getting too hungry for this! I just used the last of this seasons morels too!!
You are doing it the right way Dude. Molto bravo , hai fatto bene. However, I would not suggest Parmiggiano for that delicate and (expensive) mushroom. Try use Pecorino or Sheep Manchego . You may like it better.
Great video
Before he kicked the fridge
I suspect you lost the morel flavor in the truffle oil. Other than that looks good.
Lost me at truffle oil. Overpowers the morels, but to each their own. Truffle oil isn’t necessary at all. Everything else sounded delicious.
Just stop. You're too good
where do you live, that place looks beautiful!
hey you seem normal here
Omg that beautiful Colorado landscape. I think you've convinced me to move to Colorado.
Where are you from?
Omg he put in so much truffle oil. Omg.
I hope you left some for propagation and the animals. Greedy foraging is not cool.
No mention of what happened to your arm. Hopefully not punching the fridge!
you lost me when you added the truffle oil. you got morels already!! wtf!!!?????
this professionally shot video where the side camera man cant stop shaking looks like shit and your static, camera videos where it feels like its just you look at lot better.
What happened ro your wrist?
too much talk
This sucked
