    I bought one of these about 6 months ago and I'm now a dedicated spyderco fan. I'm a mechanic who does custom accessories on ATVs and lives on a farm. My knives get used, abused, and lost and they all break sooner or later no matter how pricey so I dont see the need to spend more than $40 on an EDC knife. I've carried just about every brand and this knife has held up the best by far. I use the crap out of it and it still locks up nice and tight, holds a razor sharp edge, and is very comfortable

    I have a CRKT Pilar, a Kershaw Shuffle 1, a Ka-Bar Folding Hunter, a Spyderco Tenacious, a Benchmade Bugout, a Kershaw Cryo, and an old serrated police Spyderco Delica, and that Spyderco Tenacious is a great knife, obviously the Bugout is my favorite but that Tenacious along with Pilar are amazing work knives. Great review, very helpful

    I just picked this knife up recently, I decided to get another Spyderco knife because my Dragonfly 2 has held up so well after 6 years of abuse, I’ve literally cut hundreds of cardboard boxes up with it, it’s got VG-10 steel and holds an edge ok, not as good as my other knives with S-30V blades, I don’t mind lower quality steel because they do sharpen up faster and easier, S-30V takes quite a bit to bring the edge back, D-2 is also a good choice, my Benchmade is D2, but I’m liking this inexpensive Spyderco Tenacious, feels good in the hand and nice blade design

    I've had mine for about a month, a friend ordered one on amazon and they accidentally sent him two so he sold me the second for ~$20! Really happy with it so far, its really smooth and seems to cut everything like butter. And after seeing this review 4 years out, I'm even more excited about it. Thanks for the review

    Just got one at big 5 for 60 bucks...big difference in price now. I went there a couple days ago and got a kershaw link blade was in 420 hc, big time dis. I traded it in for the tenacious and can feel the better quality in this knife. Kershaw is excellent and was just pissed at the guy that sold it to me and went with spyderco.

    I'm super late on this video, but I do just want to say great job on the 4yr review. I just picked this awesome blade up 9/18 and I'm super happy with it. I'm glad someone did a review on this knife after yrs of use it still looks like a great blade! I don't abuse my knifes but I do use them every day for differnt things and I'm happy that this blade held up to the punishment you put it thro lol. For a sub 40 knife I know now I didn't go wrong!!! I use my tenacious all the time in the kitchen. I used it today to eat my steak. I prefer my tenacious to a chef's knife or a pairing knife. The handle is so much more comfortable and with the ffg it was meant to be a slicer. Don't knock it till you try it.

    You can't make a fare comparison with a 30 dollar knife to 130 dollar knife. The Benchmade 940 is more expensive for a reason. S30V steel is a better steel than the Chinese 13mov. For 30 dollars the Tenacious is a GREAT!! knife for the price.

    • @knifezoid

      That might be something you have to send in for warranty. Only thing I can think of is polishing the blade or inside of handle yourself may help it.

    • @maximusleonitis
      @maximusleonitis 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be your linerlock scraping against your blade as it opens. Try holding your liner lock open and see if your blade moves smoothly. After repeated openings my gets sticky against the liner lock but the copper bushings always stay smooth. Unfortunately I really have no ideas how to fix this or why it worsens the more you open and close it. Fortunately it's not really an issue in regular use.

    I keep looking for a reason to buy a knife (other than cool use/hidden weapon in case of a hold up), but I can't think of any. What are some good EDC reasons to use a knife like this? Because I'm trying to see what use they have beyond self-defense or perhaps an impromptu kitchen tool, lol.

    • @Mr666camus
      @Mr666camus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vgman94 i agree with the previous comments. To add another reason, i would say food ! That's my main use. The knives i carry are not meant to be "tactical", but they are edged tools, and the thing you probably cut the most in your life is food, whether you cook or eat. This is why i mostly carry elegant french edc knives. They do any job i need on a regular day. Of course for harder tasks, i also have tougher knives. But, defend myself is the last reason why i carry a knife.
      Sorry for my bad english, i'm French.

    I bought a $250 bench made folder years back and had the tip snap off randomly. I don’t know how, when or why. Just pulled it out one day and it was snapped. I’ll never buy a knife I intend on working with for over $60 again. A lot of them are like a Harley Davidson. Only paying for the name.

    Hey, I'm looking for some information on what the best knife would b in terms of size for carrying. I have always heard great things about Spyderco so I thought I get one for a new carry. However, I looked online to see the dimensions for the tenacious and its quite large. Is there a smaller knife made by spyderco that is a good reasonable size?

    Great knife except for the chinga steel I have had several 13cmov blades rust in my pocket I won't buy it any more shame because spyderco and kershaw make some awesome knives in my price range rather have 420hc 440c or my favourite sandvik 13c26 or 14c26 I own s30v blades but I'm scared to take them fishing they are so expensive here in New Zealand and hard to sharpen maybe a bit over rated.

    • @dougbulldog9947
      @dougbulldog9947 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, you can get it hair popping sharp but every time you use it it needs a touch up, but I'm a bit OCD about keeping my blades sharp so it's the same for most of the lesser steels and even my German DICK fileting blades, a good diamond infused stone is the ticket, cheers m8. I enjoy your reviews keeps me entertained on a shitty wet Sunday arvo.

      doug bulldog I live on the coast and go fishing acouple of times a week and use my Tenacious fo gutting mackrel mostly, after a good rinsing and drying i EDC it most days. It is after all "stainless" and it will rust quicker than the supersteels and much slower than carbon steels, you pays your money you make your choice, then you bloody well learn to look after your tools or suffer the results.

    • @dougbulldog9947

      I live on the coast and fish a couple of times most weeks too, I look after my blades with wd-40 and oil but have still had 13cmov rust in my pocket- just stating the facts bro, I'am a qualified carpenter so don't tell me about looking after my tools thats what I earn my living from.

    this 30 buck knife is in my pocket every day and I love it for EDC If it were built in the USA it would be 120.00 or more. I don't like China junk but this is a good quality Knife

    • @knifezoid
      @knifezoid  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't like USA junk. I don't like Russian junk. I don't like any junk. As much as I like to buy American if something is made right, it's made right. Period. I think this is proof that you can't just write off Chinese made product as people quickly do these days. Also I would not say if it is was USA made it would be 120 automatically. Look at Kershaw. Lots of USA made knives at the same quality for under $50 like the Skyline and Leek.
