Hey man, congratulations! You’re on the right path. I’m almost 2 years sober. You can do this. And if you remember, you don’t wanna go back to that point where you lost control. Now you can make choices again. You’re going to do great.
Yo man! I hope you’re still going! My mind played tricks on me last year and I thought new excitement would last even if I drank a little but eventually it caught up and I felt blah about life. Going a whole year this time!
Grats ! I’ve been through treatment and such and now have been my own. I had a little over a year and then I slipped. Went good for another month and Christmas hit… I just was able to get my mother into detox after she’s been drinking for my 46 year old life. She refused treatment and went right back to it… it hit me pretty hard hard over Christmas and I slipped. So it’s day 5 and keeping my head up. Thanks for your video and time doing this, you help keep another one sober!
I wrote like 8 songs and was excited about the process and mystery of discovery and learning more but eventually the alcohol caught up and I was back to wanting the result and not enjoying the process. Quitting alcohol makes all things more enjoyable but takes about a month for me to get the natural dopamine kickin. So gonna keep going this time! Cheers!
To me, your #7 is an interesting spin on anhedonia. Anhedonia is the lack of joy or pleasure when you do things that USED to bring you joy or pleasure. Alcohol use is a huge contributor to anhedonia due to the way it hijacks the brain's reward center and lowers your dopamine baseline. While you were drinking, you felt joy and pleasure playing drums and working out. But in reality, it was mainly the alcohol use giving you that sense of joy. Once you were sober for a while, anhedonia kicked in and you began dealing with a low dopamine baseline. Suddenly, playing drums and working out wasn't feeling as pleasurable. But it doesn't necessarily mean that playing drums and working out is not for you and you have to reassess your identity. You were simply dealing with a temporary brain imbalance. The good news is the brain eventually balances out in time, and anhedonia is substantially reduced. One hack to speed up the process is to regularly force yourself to do those activities, even if just for a few minutes, and even if you're not feeling it. The joy eventually returns.
congratulations brother on hour 60 days alcohol free. I've been alcohol free since June 2024 this year. So that 6 months and 17 days. Setting up your own studio sounds great, I can't wait to see and hear it. Take care until next time!
@@Jesse-0008 I’ll be sure to share some stuff! Congratulations on 6 months! It’s not easy but so worth it and it shows us just how strong we really are!!!
@@ENOUGHISTOOMUCH207 eating too much sugar? lol. I don't ever have alcohol cravings. I find myself busier than ever just runnung around doing other stuff that fills in the time automatically it seems like. But the wife and I stopped drinking at the same time and so now we both have time to improve ourselves and set up our lifestyles in a way other than drinking and it feels good. I have picked up this new hobby of youtubing and it takes up a lot of my spare time, but I really enjoy it. I'm constantly learning about video editing in different ways. I also find it to be wonderful to meet so many different people here on youtube and watch livestreams of others singing karaoke or telling stories or whatever on friday and saturday nights.
