Cheap Amazon Clutch Update: Nothing video worthy so I will drop it here. On my second clutch with the EPI big tire clutch kit. We have had 3 hard riding dune trips. 4 long days mountain pass riding for many miles. 4 local trip days. About 900 miles. I pulled the clutch today to check it out. The rollers are still spinning free and there are no wear marks on the weights. In my opinion since I only got 1500 miles out of my stock clutch and this one was only $300 (compared to $7 to $900 for stock.) this one has paid for itself. Dune miles are without a doubt the hardest and we push our machines.
I just bought one of these mother clutchers direct from his website. I have a 2013 sportsman 850 touring that had some grooves in the sheeves, not wanting to spend the big bucks on a factory replacement I found his primary clutch on ebay and amazon which helped me eventually find his website. . He does offer them a bit cheaper on his site. I too added the EPI clutch kit. Haven't installed the new primary yet but fingers crossed I have success and know broken parts. My old clutch never did break on me just wore out due to mileage and the previous owner did not do the maintance on it.
My second one is working very well. 3 dune trips and long days in the mountain passes. Several trail trips. The first one was throwing codes at high revs that I thought was my weight set up but the second one doesn't do it.
Well your comment on what came first, between the chicken and the egg, I say you pitched a turkey at the dunes. I also have nothing but good to say about Harvey’s ATV, the warranty and shipping speed is top notch.
@@72FrostyOne I have since spoken to him and he stated that he was continuing to sell inventory at times he knew had defects. That didn't sit right with me. He should have pulled it from the shelf. Check out out the MCB clutch I tried out it has done excellent!
@@72FrostyOne also the one he sent me on warranty broke and took out my secondary and housing. He warrantied it also but I'm only keeping it in the box for emergencies.
@@ThinkBuildTest he told me the same thing when I spoke to him and I had mixed emotions with it. I can understand why he said that about selling his stock, because as a reseller of performance parts myself, my suppliers would not take bulk order back, they replaced them as I had to warranty them. As far as the MCB clutch, I watched your video on them and I decided to place an order for their primary clutch you shared a link with tomorrow.
@72FrostyOne MCB has made lots of durability improvements and there are some really cool things they have in the works they let me know about. Warranties only cover the parts, we invest allot of money and time into trips and it's worth more if things just work correct when you need them to.
@ amen brother! I’m retired and my wife works from home. We bought a big toy hauler which I set her office up perfectly in the garage/ 2nd bedroom. So we are extremely blessed to be able travel quite often for, sometimes 3 months at a time. This year we ended up in the Tucson area where we set up a wagon circle with 5 of my former coworkers who are also retired and their wives work from home as well. While the girls work, us boys ride all over the desert hunting and exploring. Thanks for the conversation, I will enjoy your content and comment where I can.
Update 8/22/22 I ran it another 8 months then had some non conclusive issues that put my rzr in the shop all summer. I felt like Mother Clutch was doing the right things as a business. They cared about quality control and tracking issues. I switched to running MCB clutches because they let you choose your weight kits and have some upgrades to reduce shank wabble. I wasn't happy with the bushings on the EPI clutch kit they kept breaking and are expensive. So this got me an upgraded clutch and tuned weights cheaper than the Mother clutcher and a weight kit. I have only had a few rides with this one. The warranty process with the guy was really good. He said it was a known issue and had corrected it on the next batch of clutches. Seems to really care about the brand he is trying to create. I don't know if I have a large enough sample size yet to say if it was worth it or not. I had to rebuild the stock after 1200 miles so its a huge savings over stock since they don't sell them in one piece. Its like $750.
That sounds more like the belt. The front clutch likes to get stuck engaged when it is going out. Check the wear surface of the secondary pucks. That should be the first thing to get grooves. First thing I would do is blow out the clutches put a new belt on and watch run with cover off. If it shifts in and out without catching its probably ok. Dust build up can cause problems.
They are supposed to be stock. If your primary wore out really fast like 1200 miles just replace the one. Of it wore out after like 4000 miles replace them both. In my opinion. It depends on your riding style. The primary takes more of the abuse if you are riding sand or bumping big rocks. If you blow your clutches out often the secondary will last along time it it has rollers. If it has the square pucks check to see if they are leaving grooves. If there are deep grooves in the secondary outer sheath then replace it. It will keep it from down shifting and mess up your belts and primary.
Thanks for the fast reply. It has around 4,000 miles & I just trail ride with a little fun some times lol. But I was just pulling out from my garage & there was a big bang. Part of the primary broke completely off. I have tried to remove the primary with the removal tool & it will not come off, any suggestions?
I bought a mother clutcher for my 19 turbo xp with a stage 3 AA tuner and some other small performance upgrades. I haven't installed the clutch yet but I'm honestly a little scared to install it. What's you opinion on trying to send it back and get something better, or just run this and see how it turns out??
Its a tough call because you can buy 3 of these for the price of stock and 5 for the price of aftermarket. If you only trail ride go for it. Dunes are the hardest on clutches and belts.

Maybe try a thicker washer to help with over travel. It will limit top speed but it looks like you will make up for that with the bigger tires.

This second one is doing pretty good. 2 dune trips and a week of riding 80 miles a day in the mountain passes.
I think this one is better balanced. There was a code I was getting at high rpm with the last one and that went away.
Thinking on one of these for my 9trail. Instead of rebuild..3k miles & needs something..
For trail should be no problems. Rebuild is almost the price of one of these and you have to deal with the spider nut tools.
