Another brilliant video John. Congratulations to all who made the film and added on all the funny comments and emojis. Just what we expect from you all. Absolutely joyful.
Thank you so much !! Enjoyed it so much and laughed a lot, dear ORK ! I am fascinated of the complicated process and wonder why yarn isn’t more expensive ... wish you all the best !
Yes, that is true! Human work is not paid for what it’s worth. We can see that also for all the incredible important work of national health service - I speak from Germany - most of it in the private sector for years now .. 🙈 I am encouraged though to learn about you and your work - so I have the choice to get the best yarn and support at least a bit your way to produce. (Please excuse my English 🤪) xx inke
Really interesting tour, thank you. I only just discovered you and I live in North Molton🙂 My Grandma worked as a spinner in a cotton mill just outside Manchester and I guess that the processes for cotton were very similar to those used for wool, which was largely processed in Yorkshire. Fascinating video. 🙂
Very Interesting! Thank you so much for the wonderful explanation of the milling process and showing us your amazing machines. I love that they all have a name!!
Thank you ! I loved this virtual tour. I hope that maybe next year I will be able to visit you in person. This whole process is so interesting to know about and just adds to the wonderful experience enjoyed while knitting with your yarns.
Wonderful! I did come on a real mill tour a few years ago, but I think this is even better. Looking forward to re-booking my slot and coming again in person next year!
I loved watching the tour and have only just found your site. Must say I also enjoyed your music - where can we hear more as a quick Google search on Moda Sol doesn't produce anything useful. :)
Thank you for the tour! I enjoyed it immensely. It's so fun to know where the yarn I've bought from you (or Marie Wallin) comes from. (Or Viola yarn?) I can't wait to get my yarn from the Mill Open Weekend!
@Robert Taylor90y, Are you familiar with the Jute and Flax/Hemp machinery produced by James Mackie & Sons formerly of Belfast Northern Ireland ? I worked for this company 1975 - 2000 (until closure), they are now located in Zhoushan, China (Golden Eagle Mackie), and still producing machinery for the Jute and Flax industry. I still work in the Textile machinery business installing and refurbishing mainly Flax machinery.
Yes I am familiar with Mackie machines.I started work as an apprentice mechanic in a flax mill in Inverbervie .north of Montrose Angus in 1969 .At that time there was a number of Mackie machines at the mill which spun flax .Over the years older machines were replaced with some used & some new Mackie machines. A 5X card was installed in1972.Apron draft spinning frames in 1971& 1975. to add to the 4 that were there when I started work.In 1992 the mill closed and I moved to a mill in Gourdon 1 Mile away owned by Sidlaw Yarns of Dundee which produced Jute and Flax yarn which closed in 1997 .I then found work as a maintenance assistant in an N H S hospital in Aberdeen until I retired last year.
This was lovely to watch thank you for sharing , stay safe x

Such a wonderful walkthrough! Thank you for sharing your process. I’ve developed a greater appreciation for wool to skeins! Time to buy more yarn. 😁

Anybody else want to dive into the can of Zwartbles? It was almost overwhelming here!😂
Iv loved watching your video thank you . What do you do with the ends you just seem to pull off? Jx
Well done Mill Folk! John, how many t-shirts do you own?
Wow,
You're wearing a WFMU tee! I'm going to have to go back several minutes because that's distracting me in the best way.
