Great ride I have a 99 132xl flattop freightshaker it's been a great Truk also these old trucks will never go out of style thank you for showing us your ride!!!
My buddy has a 1987 379 short hood, he just uses it as a farm truck these days. But these 1987 379 peterbilts are a bit rare I suppose, being the split year transition from the 359 to the 379.
Actually to the person who made this video just a slight correction here. That transmission is not a 15speed at all. 15speeds had and have a blue splitter button on the left side of the gearshifter. This one that u have is a 13speed transmission with the red splitter button on the left side of the gearshifter. A lot of the 1987 model peterbilt 379exhds had 13speeds put in them back on the day from what I know. But I watched the video and I saw that beautiful red colored splitter right there on the side of the shifter and it's definitely a 13speed eston fuller transmission! So just to let you know about that.
What's to say the splitter button wasn't changed and a different color was used all that button is is a valve to flow air the difference itself lies in the transmission a 13 speed the only gears you can cut in half are on the high side the 15 you can cut all the gears except reverse and the 18 speed you can cut everything so the color of the splitter doesn't mean anything
@@bobbyalley5192 on highway over the road trucks do not have any deep reduction gears it's all overdrive that's why they call them double over transmission's the 18 speed even has 4 reverse gears
That’s up for debate for sure. I am completely partial to the 15spd and if the bearings could stand the new engines that’s what I’d want now. Couldn’t beat a B model cat and a 15spd against the dash. No way.
Thanks for watching! Here is a link to the listing on TruckPaper. It has a bunch of the interior. www.truckpaper.com/listing/for-sale/231360807/1987-peterbilt-379-sleeper-trucks
That's a fantastic truck, but you have serious issues with the gear shift bouncing and rattling like it does! I've had a few 379 Peterbilt trucks and they never did that unless your motor mounts were shot to hell!!!
Wish i had the cash i would buy it just to look at parked in my garage while I drink beer😂, sweet ride man

Yeah I noticed that too a 13 speed. 15 speed is 5 deep reduction and 10 highway gears no splitting the high side.

Pretty sure the guy that owns the truck knows what transmission is in it.
what part of the video did you see a red button?
Im looking twice, wow i don't think ya could find one any better 😉
What a beautiful truck. I wish I had the money to buy it
It probably had a 15 speed with deep reduction since it was a log truck and they switched to a 13 speed would be my guess.
The 18spd would DEFINITELY be BETTER than the 15spd

A15 spd sucks in the hills
Simply beautiful 🥰
No disrespect but that a 13sp and not a 15sp. 15's have a blue over drive switch. Regardless that is a beautiful truck sir!
Fantastic truck 💯
Probably twice the truck you will get now says
Days yeah.
Sweet ride
Sir is it for sale . My company is starting a plant in Lebanon Pa n need a flat bed to go into the NYC

What's the asking price for the truck
Did it sell? Is it still For-Sale?
You said 15 speed but it’s got a red button on the side which indicates a 13
How do I get a hold of you
Very nice truck and seems to have been well maintained. How does someone get a hold of you

Got it 20 yrs ago. Then 21-22 yrs ago and he's had it for 23 years.
If you would have put a contract number on the video I would buy your truck
It's a shame that you don't show the interior

Unfortunately soon our government will have this beautiful truck banned off our highways
Can ALWAYZ change the a few things & still run it
Maybe in queerlifornia. It's OK everywhere else. I drive a 95 KW with 3406 and 13 speed. No problem with Texas laws.
I would like to call you about your truck
Is there anyway to get intouch about a serious purchase.
I noticed the red button on the transmission also
I would like more info on the truck. Contact info would be helpful.
Would love to call you but don’t have your number
Did he ever say what he wanted for it. Did i miss the price?
