    Continuing to trash-talk DVD drives, but they keep trying to sell us on RGB LEDs. What's REALLY the useless feature, here?

      i need a minimum of 5 dvd drive bays in any case because that's where i keep my reservoir and fan controller.

    • @WatchScotch
      @WatchScotch 8 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I haven't installed anything on my computer with a disk in over 2 years, yet I look at my case daily. So...disk drives are useless yet LED's are pleasing to look at, so I consider them useful.

    Don't ever mock disc drives again, I still use mine and you hurt it's feelings. I had to pop in my dvd of caligula to make it feel better again.

    Just purchased this case in Nov 2022 for my 4080/water-cooled 13700k build because it was basically the only case I could find that supported a disk drive. It isn't for new pc builders because the sheer modularity is overwhelming but it is great. I ended up taking a Dremel to it to be able to drop the motherboard tray an extra half inch in order to fit a push pull fan setup for the top mounted radiator and just removing the door for a little more airflow. I'm running 6 140mm fans and 8 120mm fans (plus the 3 gpu fans) and at full blast the computer is still whisper quiet.

      Ya here?

    • @MmeHyraelle
      @MmeHyraelle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usefull for side mounted motherboard sata ports, that way you can plug the bottom row with right angle and process them under the motherboard and leave the top row available for straight cables.

  • @naibaf710
    @naibaf710 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got this case two days ago and it is the best case ever!!
    I inverted the case to have the motherboard upside down and switch the window panel to the other side.
    That leads to my only critique point: You need to remove and screw back an insane amount of screws, and some of them are drilled in so hard, that it is not possible to remove them without damaging the screw head.
    Also, I already damaged one of the plastic latches that holds the top of the case. At this point, they could have used screws instead of latches to hold the top down...
    So if you plan to buy this to invert it and make an insane build, get some really strong high-quality screw drivers...

You get what you pay for and if the Define R5 is all you need, then you'll be happy with it, but if you want a premium case with premium fans included, the Dark Base 900 Pro is one to take a look at.

    I have ver. 2 of this case. I was able to drop my CPU Temps by 10c+ at idle by taking my 360mm water cooler from the top and mounting it to the front. Heat gets trapped in the top cover, and since it's metal, I actually had issues with it getting hot enough to the point that it was uncomfortable to touch it for more then a couple seconds, which is great for winter months as a space heater, but not so much for summer. Don't mount your water cooler on the top.

    thank you linus tech tips for being awesome at computers! I came here from one of PrestonPlayz's videos almost 3 months ago. Coming in all I new was that big numbers usually meant it was better, and I also knew what parts you needed to build a pc, but I didn't know what they did or anything. In just a short 3 months of watching you you have taught me so much, and now even though I've never built a computer, I have a feeling I could build one (but I don't have enough money to afford one D:). Thank you so much for being smart and awesome and making me smarter (and maybe awesomer)

    have recently purchased this case, I do not regret my purchase
    nevertheless there are a few small drawbacks
    in my opinion
    negatives
    * motherboard screws are too small
    * the door lock does not close properly, bad design
    * internal power supply mount, I do not know what its purpose is
    the cooling holes are not big enough under the power supply
    good points
    * a very spacious cabinet for many possibilities such as water cooling enough harddisk mounthings ....
    * very quiet case
    * assembly went flawlessly, many accessories, screws cable management strips ....
    * very nice design

    bruh, this is the case I chose for the first time for building a PC, it was the best case I thought ever, but it wasn't..., the glass cover windows thing is heavy, and what happened for me was that every time I tried to open it, it is so, so, not easy to grab or just simply take it out, so, guess what, it was so heavy that it makes my fingers slipped just a tiny bit of one side of the cover, then, the bottom corner of that glass hit on the floor, Boom, the whole glass shutter, I was shocked, hearing the clock noise tick tock tick tock, couldn't believe what happened, and didn't know what to do, gladly, it wasn't falling all apart right away until.. I tried to leave it up and put them in trash, pieces of glass dropped alone the way.
    Solution? 1 months of using the case paper board as a cover, while ordering a custom plastic(?) PCIE board (not sure the name of it, but like a transparent plastic board), which took me so long to figure out the right size, because I couldn't find the length and width for that windows.., then drew 4 holes, and finally solved after few months.
    Also, after 1 year of using, Problems:
    1. this case, for some reason it has another short cable inside the case located at the Power Supply part, basically, instead of 1 Cable > Power Supply, Now, it is like 1 cable > connected to another cable, which located in the pc case like i mentioned where it is > then to the Power supply. I hope this make sense, but the problem is, it was so loose, from time to time, you might not able to boot your PC, and you have to go and twist it like a old broken cable earphone..., so it was disappointing.
    2. inside the case, where the bottom part have a metal thing protecting the power supply, it is so hard to lift up, this would be a problem when you try to install some new components in every while in times.
    finally, I just want to ask if anyone would know any case that have the following features:
    - a cover that connected to the case, you open it as if a window without the effort of taking the whole cover off with screws.
    - driver holder (SSD, HDD) that could be installed easily via some sort of sliding function built with the case.
    - similar size to this Base 900 pro case
    Thanks.

    Request: Midrange build using this case. Max cash: $700 USD ($800 feasible if absolutely required)
    Requirements: Wireless AC, Larger storage over Speed HDD (target 2TB), Nvidia GPU, Plenty of ram, Intel and AMD variants (pick your poison) Decent Audio, outperforms the PS4 (Must greatly outperform the ps4 compared to pricepoint, as I would need to justify almost or double the cost of a PS4).
    Liquid cooling is a plus, especially if you can OC it.

    Loved the case but ran into a major issue. The motherboard stand off's were all stripped! Had to replace each one from an older case. That's not an oops one off but might be a production issue among many. May want to examine that first if you bought the case and before full install of the MB.

    Reverseable option is huge, I'm locked in as to where I can put my case and have pull all the cables to hoist out the rig just to get at it for cleaning and access. I've been looking for a new case for while and was considering the CM pro5, maybe now, not so much. Had a BQ before, was pretty good at keeping dust out of the system which is another pro for me as I didn't have to pull out for cleaning as often

    The one thing that really bothers me with bequiets cases is that the front fan mounts are on the inside, which means that if you want to put a radiator in the front you pretty much have to have the fans in push instead of pull unless you want a big gap between the rad and the dust filter.
