    *My goodness... What a marvelous nostalgic experience this is !!... It's amazing the strength and the intensity of this nostalgic feeling one gets by watching these old 90's computers we've all grown up with and hearing those long-time gone sounds makes us dizzy because : it's been such a long, long, long way we've been through since those days with no videos and nothing on the net to... To this crazy digital world we're living in right now !... People above 40 everywhere in the world can relate to that and can appreciate the metamorphosis of THEIR LIVES because of THAT, as well as the metamorphisis of our global society... Sends shivers down my spine...*

      Lord, how right you are! True, I'm not 40+, but 60+, but I remember what a feeling of delight swept over me with the advent of even a computer on a 187 processor, not to mention 286! It became possible to collect all your paper archives in a virtual invisible space with the ability to quickly access them ... And then your photo archives ... It was exactly what we dreamed of as teenagers in the 60s. And then everything became somehow ordinary... Now I am writing this in Russian, and my tiny device translates into English in real time... I can answer the question of any person in the world... in this box are thousands of books and dozens of films, I can pay my bills on the spot, make a movie and send it, have an archive of photos that have never seen paper, watch TV and a movie theater... oh yes! also call as if it were a telephone receiver!😀 but it is taken for granted...not the way we looked at primitive ivory devices in the 90s and gasped with delight before the power of the human mind...😁

    HaHa I worked for Microsoft from 1988 to 1998 and remember fondly the launch of Windows 95. All the stages of starting up your PC back then hold a special place in the hearts of many from back then. It really was the first version of Windows to take over the home computer market by storm and sell like crazy, and was good enough to settle the Mac/PC debate for many users, from then on until this very day. OK Windows had some dud releases like 2000, ME, Vista, and Windows 8, but XP, Windows 7, and now Windows 10(11?) were/are pretty damn good. Now I just have to re-configure my laptop to make Windows 95 sounds (but not take forever to boot up). ;-)

    The nostalgia...
    My first Windows PC was a x386 or x486 running Windows... 2 or 3.1, I think? '95 was when we first got a tower PC than a box PC, and I was like 7 at the time, lol.
    This takes me back -- even the bios looks the same!

    This reminds me somewhat of the Packard-Bell PC I bought in 1996. It was a real screamer with 8mb RAM, Pentium 100Mhz processor, a 4X CD-ROM and a 1 GB HDD. Windows 95 took *a lot longer* to load, though.

    • @Rubbafingaz1
      @Rubbafingaz1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rubbafingaz1 That Packard-Bell PC set me back over *$2000.00.* I suspect an important factor behind the price was the massive (at the time) HDD.

    I never had a windows 95 in my house thus never had the nostalgia for it, but fuck, I am already in love.
    Those little rainbow parakeet looking guys in the top corner, though, immediately unlocked memories that were stored away in a vault.
    So deep that I can’t even quite recall what they were meant to signify. I’ll look it up later on my sad, sad shell of a laptop being my modern web surfin’ device. I want to emphasise that I did not fully experience the 90s, but I still miss the fresh new and exciting feel technology gave in that time. Computers were a big box of mysteries which compelled so many people to uncover these and create things within these aforementioned off-white binary boxes.
    Today, we can say “big monolithic tech companies” and not raise an eyebrow. I can’t go onto TH-cam without remembering the current corporate stranglehold engulfing what used to be personalisation. I swear I’m not secretly an old man that uses comments as an excuse to be haded and cranky, the way I’m writing this comment comes more from a sense of disconnect with the internet we have today. Look, I love talking to people but I frankly struggle with starting a conversation (like most people who seek shelter in the internet, which is why I’m here), but now I feel I’ve just become a spectator to some big conglomerate’s dream.
    This got way too deep to what I originally wanted to say, but I suppose I had to say it eventually. The state of the modern internet is frankly depressing. Though, would anyone say that it was like that in the early years? Am I disenchanted because I’m just not a kid anymore? If anyone wants to dump their memories with early internet, please share!
