Reference 7:18 in the timeline: Once in 1991, I was standing on the UPS ramp waiting to load our aircraft with freight (I was FO) and a 747 took off on 33. As he got over a point about 1000 or so feet from the departure end of the runway, he lost a wheel. It fell from about 400-500 feet, hit the runway, and bounced a couple hundred feet into the air and into the woods just off the end of the runway. So I brought it to the attention of my chief pilot, who I was flying with that morning, and he called the tower from our aircraft. The tower called the 747 crew and told them they'd lost a tire/wheel. I'll never forget what the Korean pilot said, in a heavily-Korean accent of course: "We don't need it anymore." True story. They made it to Korea and, because they had burned off all the fuel on the trip, landed without incident. Turns out that they really didn't need it after all.
Going back through this footage NEVER gets old! The attention to detail throughout is mind-blowing to say the least. Thank you Josh for producing these and Chris@Angle of Attack. You guys are the best.
One of my greatest joys was flight training in the USA and the amazing FBOs and cabin restaurants I visited with my instructors. Jump in, fly away, land, a burger, rest a while and fly back to base. Wonderful!
This has been an amazing series you have put together Josh. After every episode, I sit here and impatiently wait for the next episode to be released. As always thanks so much for providing us the videos. Hope to meet you one day.
I have a feeling that after this series is over, a whole lot of people will be screeching out cLeAr! In a loud voice just for the heck of it! LOL Great series so far. Excellent story telling. A few minutes with the owner of that lodge would add to the documentary feel of the video. Just a suggestion, maybe for a "Directors Cut" version to come out later?
I think that an unintended take away from this video was seeing how 2 very capable and reputable pilots gave each other space and seamlessly executed CRM while having fun.
Josh your videos and production quality just keep improving. Many reasons steered me away from aviation so I get my fix through your videos. Keep it up!!!!
Josh- that was the most beautiful filmed aviation video I’ve ever seen. You outdo yourself each time. Can’t wait to see the upcoming Denali video. Keep up the amazing work and thank you.
I discovered your channel a couple of days ago and I gotta say I'm hooked men. I always wanted to be a pilot but is being a bit rough, I recently got my medical though! People like you keep my motivation up, thank you captain !
This is exactly why I am working towards my A&P and private pilots license. One day I hope I will be making that gorgeous Skwentna approach. You guys have put together some truly inspiring content. I hope one day our paths will cross so I can thank you both. But for now, Thank you!
Used to live just down the street from Anchorage Intl off Spenard. To see this pop up in my feed made me smile. I remember going gown to Lake Hood every few weeks to watch the water planes land. Really wish I would have taken one of the Rust's Tours.
Well done series of videos. I enjoy the mix of aviation content with the amazing scenery and local info. Great drone footage in these as well. Nice work.
It looks like a cumulonimbus cloud because it's a pyrocumulus cloud. It's the same phenomena as cumulus clouds, only the source of lift is the heat from the fire. Lighting sometimes develops in them.
Cloud formation over a fire is called pyrocumulus or pyrocumulonimbus when there is lightning development. Relatively rare to see but a very impressive sight. Such an incredible force of nature.
Love the Alaska episodes but if they really want to keep that C172 for another few years, please give it a paintjob! It is really screaming ‘I want paint’ 😉
Absolutely love the video and the entire series. Great meeting you at Osh. Looking forward to enhancing my Adobe Premier skills. Thanks for the input buddy.
Beautiful video. Following the river was a good idea, plenty of gravel bars to land on if you need too. But lowering your flaps when you have a long runway ahead with nothing but trees below was not. I never touch the flaps till I have the runway made in that situation.
Skwentna is approximately 70 miles fly N-NW from Ted Stevens INAP. No roads on that side of the Susitna River. Unless your heading North. Like most places in Alaska you go by Boat, by Air or by Snow Mobile/Dog Sled in winter.
You know what I love about the Alaska videos? The planes look a lot like my 1977 Piper Warrior, old and functional! One day I will have enough to upgrade some avionics and get a paint job done...but until then I just fly the midwest US. I need to find more places to eat...any suggestions for the midwest? CLLEEERARRARRR!
I love Mt McKinley and did you see Mooses Tooth, The pizza place in Anchorage is named after itn not the other way around lol. Yes those were my thoughts when I visited Alaska I was speechless. I say you cant tak a bad picture or video in Alaska. Whic ever way you point the camera there is always something beautiful to behold. I am looking for ward to your next episodes. Denali was the farthest north I got but one day want to go to Fairbanks and experience the Northern Lights as well as the hot mineral springs and ice bars.
Great videos again. Incredible views. Enjoying every second. Also following flight on maps. Just one question, Why is the restaurant/cafe called a "ROADHOUSE"? ....There are no roads. ;-)

He replaced the missing wheel with one of his giant balls.
You know, I thought the "CCLLLEEEAAAARRR" would get old after a while. It doesn't, still damn funny!!
Going back through this footage NEVER gets old! The attention to detail throughout is mind-blowing to say the least. Thank you Josh for producing these and Chris@Angle of Attack. You guys are the best.
3:30 Therrrre it iiis-!
Thumbs-up for a *_CclLEeaARr!!_* compilation after this miniseries ends.
Think the belt is on too tight maybe.
Textbook clear
That plane should be illegal to make cause it discriminates for fat people. They wouldnt be able to fit in the seats.

The Alaskan countryside looks so peaceful and beautiful... I must visit it at least once!
These videos are so well organized and the narration is impeccable. Either a genius or the best video tape editor in the world.
How can you not burst at the seams when you hear hime announce "CLEAEAEAEAR" prop lol I love it.
Enjoying the little comical bits you've been including in this series.
One of my greatest joys was flight training in the USA and the amazing FBOs and cabin restaurants I visited with my instructors.
Jump in, fly away, land, a burger, rest a while and fly back to base. Wonderful!
I’m at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your channel. Absolutely captivating.
This has been an amazing series you have put together Josh. After every episode, I sit here and impatiently wait for the next episode to be released. As always thanks so much for providing us the videos. Hope to meet you one day.
I'm convinced you have the best av videos out there.
You're not too geeky about it and share enough information to be useful!
Good work
Love those curving approaches; well done! Toilet paper rolls on the table as napkins...classic! 😂
Awesome place! Nice to see Cindy is doing well. I'm proud to have Skwentna in my logbook a few times.

I am really enjoying this series. I love the scenery. What a stunning place to see from the air. And from the ground - judging by that pizza.
from 12:12 to 12:56 is some of the best footage you have every assembled. I. LOVE. THIS!
Another good reason to visit Talkeetna is it's the only town I know of whose mayor was a cat.
Is the cat a republican or a democrat? :-)
That skwentna takeoff definitely redeemed the quartz creek takeoff. Bravo!
I think that an unintended take away from this video was seeing how 2 very capable and reputable pilots gave each other space and seamlessly executed CRM while having fun.
It seems like shooting in Alaska is scenic cinematography on easy mode. The landscape is so beautiful! Nice job on the camera work and flying!
this Alaska series keep getting better and better... please don't stop... 😃
Awesome just awesome, you are so privileged to be able to enjoy such amazing adventures and yes on the pineapple!
This is pretty cool, takes travel to a new "Boss" Level!
I always love and learn when I watch Josh's videos
I can really appreciate all the editing you do Josh. Great job man!
There’s is something so properly American about this outpost , love it
Josh your videos and production quality just keep improving. Many reasons steered me away from aviation so I get my fix through your videos. Keep it up!!!!
Nice tour with you from overseas! I like your emotion doing this.
Josh- that was the most beautiful filmed aviation video I’ve ever seen. You outdo yourself each time.
Can’t wait to see the upcoming Denali video.

I think being that remote qualifies it to be a $200 hamburger!!
Looking forward to more, really beautiful place to be flygin guys.

Beautiful scenery and I love Hawaiian pizza as well!!!
Some great flying, awesome scenery, fantastic road(airfield)house and yes, pineapple definitely belongs on pizza.
Your video skills are amazing. Piloting also. All shots are steady and well-composed. Looking fwd to your next video.
Dude you're living my dream! Thanks for sharing you're adventures!
Just took my discovery flight. Cannot wait to join you in the skies
Congrats
You won’t regret it,,,,,,, and don’t quit halfway thru ! Tough it out and your rewards will be endless. 🍺
Good luck and God speed 👍
You should get a boat plane.
Used to live just down the street from Anchorage Intl off Spenard. To see this pop up in my feed made me smile. I remember going gown to Lake Hood every few weeks to watch the water planes land. Really wish I would have taken one of the Rust's Tours.
Josh, consider adding some posters to the website using stills of your Alaska footage. 100% would buy, the cinematography has been amazing.
Awesome, and that is one of my favorite 100$ pizza runs. The wife and I do that run at least once a year... hrmm maybe we will do it this weekend...
Great series. Flying and fantastic views. Doesn't get any better!!!
13:06 bring a tear to my eye especially the music so so so familiar
Chris & Josh, thanks for sharing the Alaska series
I agree with the cleeeaarrrrr!! Should be a short vid with all them in it lol.
loving the series so far josh. keep up the good work
Well done series of videos. I enjoy the mix of aviation content with the amazing scenery and local info. Great drone footage in these as well. Nice work.
Good stuff gents, can’t wait for part 8.
That approach and landing looked very well done. Fun spot!
It looks like a cumulonimbus cloud because it's a pyrocumulus cloud. It's the same phenomena as cumulus clouds, only the source of lift is the heat from the fire. Lighting sometimes develops in them.
Good lawd did you see the prices on that menu!! Cool remote place.
Loving the Alaska series so much.
That roadhouse is amazing! Worth more than a $100 pizza. I use to pay $100+ for hamburgers in Colo and Utah. Probably cost $200 to get there!
Enjoying the videos so far.
I'm also a big fan of pineapple on pizza...going Hawaiian in Alaska !
Omg that was amazing thank you for sharing your trip with all of us
Cindy makes an awesome pizza!
Nice approach with the short turn final!! The only thing missing is a few Whataburger stickers on that orange and white plane! Lol
Oddly, I was introduced to my first Hawaiian pizza when I was in Alaska. Super tasty
Looks like you've really stepped up your film making since last time I watched!
“...trimmed for tak’... Where I want it!” Awesome!
So much to learn even after ground school.
I never get used to that CCCCCCCCLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAARRRR
Never seen anything like it before. Lakehood is like a mini airport inside a bigger airport.
Yes we do.
Cloud formation over a fire is called pyrocumulus or pyrocumulonimbus when there is lightning development. Relatively rare to see but a very impressive sight. Such an incredible force of nature.

Can you do some more fpv flying videos like your traffic pattern practice? It is more immersive and awesome to watch!!!!
Josh, one of the problems with this series of videos is I can only hit the thumbs up button once!
Beautiful video. Following the river was a good idea, plenty of gravel bars to land on if you need too. But lowering your flaps when you have a long runway ahead with nothing but trees below was not. I never touch the flaps till I have the runway made in that situation.

My Alexa device was going crazy for each time you guys said "echo" .. I found it kinda funny tho
Amazing! Mind.... Blown.... WOW!!
Obligatory request for cLEeEeEEaAAR shirts and/or hats :p
That is a beautiful restaurant. Also you better have tipped her well!
Especially the shot at 13:06 it seems so familiar even though I've never been there
Great Vid! I look forward to the next one! :)

Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Pineapple Pizza is called Pizza Hawaii in Germany. My wife love it. Nice Video. Thx for sharing.
In America we call it Hawaiian Pizza. Also paired with ham, or as we say it Canadian Bacon.
Great video , great flying and I love the scenery :-)
Great work man...
I have always been in love of flying.
It has always been a big interest and something I long for in the near future.
You are living my dream. . .
Reminiscent of Pancho’s, without the legendary attitude and atmosphere. Got any Beeman’s ?
"Yeah, I might have me a stick."
great series, loving it! Thanks :)

Calling Denali Mt Mckinley to the Inupiat (Eskimo) is like using the N word to a black person
I'm late but @ 1:32 sold! subbed.
The clearance controller here sounded exactly like the tower controller at San Marcos. Lol.
Great video as always !!!
its a really great Place and Video...
thanks for this and best regards from Germany ;) see you...
So many life experiences when you fly.
As a resident of the lower 48, Talkeetna is a name I know via "Ice Road Truckers" and "Alaska Railroad" on TV, but that's about all I know.
Wonderful video, guys !
It takes a big man to admit that they like pineapple on their pizza! Lots of respect for your pizza choices!
You never herd about a hawian pizza? Its got ham and pineapples on it and is almost the best pizza you can get. Some places even put bacon on it.
Surprised to see you here Glen! Love your videos 👍🏻
I love pineapple on my pizza
@@greenlawnfarm5827 Of course I know about Hawaiian pizza - It's a Canadian Classic.
@@GlenAndFriendsCooking You have pineapples in Canada?
Great videos again. Incredible views. Enjoying every second. Also following flight on maps.
Just one question, Why is the restaurant/cafe called a "ROADHOUSE"? ....There are no roads. ;-)
amazing ! great episode !
Awesome video's!
