A Festival Rondo
For Combined Multi-Aged Orchestras
By Richard Meyer
Item: 00-44848
Series: Highland String Orchestra
Ensemble: String Orchestra
Grade 1.5-3.5
Format: Conductor Score & Parts
This work features all of your school district's string orchestras at once and was written to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Freeport, Illinois orchestra program. The piece combines elementary, middle school, and high school string orchestras each playing age-appropriate material, making for the perfect closer to an ""All-City,"" multi-level concert. During the course of this energetic rondo, each group is featured on their own melody. As the piece unfolds, the melodies are creatively combined, keeping all the players ""on their toes"" and active at all times. Grade levels for the three groups are: Elementary - Grade 1.5; Middle school - Grade 2.5; High school - Grade 3.5. (4:45)

The 8 dislikes are people who played highschool first violin
I played highschool first violin......
That was torture to learn😭
Lmao. I can see that, I did 2nd...but our leader for the first violinists can play anything, I betcha he did it no problem
I played first in middle school. I played this.... this was my nightmare 😭😭😭
that's me this year
i didn't dislike though
Our orchestra played this song. 650+ people playing it at once each divided into the Very Advanced, Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner. It was amazing really... Just... Amazing.
I wish I was there
Ours was close too with 641, with the performers divided into 14 zones (A-N, I was in E). My school runs large strings performances every 5 years. This was in 2018 for the 15th anniversary, with 7th-11th graders, some teachers and alumni playing. At the end of the performance the principal announced the number of performers, and encouraged that we should keep our instruments for the next performance in 2023.
Us too !! It sounded so amazing ☺️
@@julsmel8937 How many people did you have? Was it 600+ too?
@@SamuelLee-gw6wr I would say with everyone there-yes
Performed this as a middle school first violin, I will always be in awe of our high school firsts. Their part looked impossible.
trust me they are. I'm playing it in less than two weeks and im in middle school xD
Where is it hardest? Time stamp?
Yes, I'm playing middle school first violin.
as a high school first playing this in a couple weeks, it’s so so fun though
Playing this in a week, wowee. I'm a cello.
At least the horns don't overpower this one.
*cough*_JUPITER_*cough*
Takeusername I’m a beginner playing cello elementary
I also played cello on this in 2018
You don’t know pressure until the teacher be like “your too good for 2nd violin, here play 1st” and literally there’s only 2 first violins
Bruh same
people who say 1st is harder than second are grouping the violins improperly
source: all my orchestra teachers
This is actually a really cool concept
omg this is so nostalgic to me, i played this in middle school orchestra like 3 years in a row. we would combine with the high schoolers in this huge concert hall and it was so cool
Same here. I’m in 10th grade and played this right before 8th grade ended and Covid messed everything up. Good times, I really enjoyed all the songs I played
omg same
Omg im in a concert and I am playing this song
I would honestly have to say, this is the piece that hooked me. I played it way back in 7th grade. This was the first piece that I truly fell in love with and was sad to see it go. I hold Richard Meyer as one of, if not the best composer of out time. I blame this piece for making me adore music.
My orchestra played this song in middle school, with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade groups and I was in 6th grade and to this day I still don’t know how the 8th grade violins were able to play this part.. This is one of the most nostalgic pieces to me and felt so incredible to play
I’m going to be the only viola in the whole school my 8th grade year in August
You sure are! Lol good thing you have blaine 😂
I feel ur pain fellow violist 🥺
Too bad not many of us are out there 😅
@@Bella-dc1hb spent 10 racks on a c string
I used to play this music when I was 7th grade I lost the music, now I miss it
I am actually playing the high school violin 1 for the orchestra that I go to
Performed this in a 640-person orchestra celebrating my high school's 15th anniversary. We had to play strings from 7th to 9th grade as part of the curriculum.
We had 9th and 10th grades play the high school parts, 8th and 11th grades play the middle school parts, and finally 7th graders plus some teachers and alumni playing the elementary school parts.
Can still remember my position number in the orchestra that day: E-110.
Love this song!! It’s so great
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - I C O N I C !!
I know right?
I'm so excited to play this because at my school we're going to the highschool and the highschool and another middle school is going to be playing with us. So it's gonna be a fun night with a bunch of different skill levels
How was it?
My school in HK did it for their 15th anniversary, as strings is our core music curriculum for 7th-9th grade, rare among schools in HK.
i played this song in 6th grade, middle schoolers and high schoolers played this all together so it was pretty cool
My highschool plays this at Graduation and at the last concert of the year. The alumni (for the last concert) come back and play the HS part. COncert (freshman) plays elementary, symphony (everyone else) plays MS and Chamber (the best people in the school) play HS at graduation (except the Seniors of course)
the high school first violin is so fun once i had it down, but dear lord comparing the parts.
Anyone else been playing this song every year since elementary school and are in high school now ☹️ i can play the advanced part in my sleep I’ve memorized it years ago
ngl i would love to play this
Our orchestra teacher made all of her middle school and high school students play this and it was amazing but the lights powers out so we had to play in the dark, some parents had to go up and flash the music so we could play 😭
I played this song for woodridge first middle school
My middle school orchestra did the song last year. 6th graders playing elementary parts, 7th graders playing middle school parts, 8th graders playing high school parts. I as a 6th grader played the Middle School violin 1 part, because I didn't feel it was too hard.
I’m gonna play this song the 22nd and I’m super excited but scared I’ll mess up with wonderful piece 😂
Celia Ciel How’d you do with it? I’m playing it on Nov 2nd
Kanitta Conard actually it was not that bad. The 7th graders really struggled with the elementary school part though
My band director arranged this for band and orchestra and it made me want to die. I place clarinet and it just felt like playing the violin melodies on an instrument they weren’t meant to be played on. My fingers died.
When I was in 4th grade my orchestra had to play this song
Im middle school 2nd violin. I actually really like this song! We are playing it for orchestra soon and hopefully it goes well. A pain to learn tho 😢
As someone who is about to learn to play the entire piece now, wish me luck o-o
As a bass player I loved this song!
(Please let me and my family go I hate this song so much)
I kinda sucked at playing this lol, was still fun at concert
i am playing the Middle School Violin 2 for the orchestra i go to xD
I am too
Which scholl
@@vickydeng2728 one that you should go to if you’re spelling like that
I’m elementary violin
We don’t have elementary orchestras, we have a large highschool group and a small middle school group
👏
If you want to hear this song in action go to the account Ed Zunic. The upper Arlington orchestra played this when we traveled to Hawaii and we played this with over 300 students
10 days until I play this with the entire orchestra in my school (all 3 grades)
The music sounds like something from a mmorpg
I play the middle school violin 1 part. Anybody have a good tutorial for positions?
HappleCraft I’m looking for that currently, did you end up finding anything???
2:27 just to bookmark what i need to practice
I’m a cello player
I have to play this in orchestra and im scared
Crap im learning it now in high school 😢 (worse as a 9th grader)
What will I get if I purchase? Paper scores or PDF scores?
You can have either one. You specify at time of purchase
i want to jump off a cliff now cuz of i have to rec this piece
Why Am I literally the only Viola in the Sixth Grade?
Lol this is a nice way to terrify the elementary school orchestra
you mean chamber
Caleb Kwon is a bad one trick talon
Why are people say this is hard?
Is it just me or does this sound like the festival theme from my hero academia
#weneedarainbowcover #theinjustice #getrainbowonyoutube !!!
Playing the middle school cello part of this is amazing ^^. The only part I "dislike" is 142-145. Dont like shifting 😔
