Yea, I agree. In most songs, the violins, especially the violin 1's are the most obvious and are the most heard, meanwhile, the audience is usually oblivious to other parts, especially the bass. This piece really brings out the bass in all of the parts of this song, but more on Earth and I love that.
@@RiCh...6969I will be honest the most time the bass is featured and rlly brought out is the very end of water and fire. Earth is more cello heavy than anything. The Cellos have the melody in the beginning and are the most clear because we are in our lower register while also being in the higher part of the register
I love how you can clearly hear all parts for each instrument. Many composers try to do this but it is extremely hard to balance out every part equally. with that said, Richard Meyer nailed it. Edit: I JUST GOT A FRICKIN AD BETWEEN WATER AND FIRE.
Richard Meyer really went above and beyond with this piece... Every part fits its element *perfectly* Earth sounds structural and commanding Air is free and playful, while also being unpredictable in its melody. The plucking of the strings represents droplets of water, but the rest flows so smooth like a river, or even a waterfall. Meanwhile, fire is intense; fearful, like you're frantically running away from danger that's slowly, yet quickly closing in on you. Everything about this piece is beautiful. Fire is by far my favorite, but damn... All of it is amazing. Props to Mr. Meyer!
The concept reminds me of The Planets, lol With the 5/4 time signature for Mars, and all the flats (the fact the first one was called Earth) But this is really cool, glad it randomly popped up in my recommendations
7:43 probably the most epic part of the piece Edit: coming back , I wrote this comment right after playing the piece in an orchestra, and wanted to hear the real thing. Coming back to this again, I was fingering along with the part I played, and realized that this may be my favorite orchestra piece that I've played yet
I listened to this piece two or three years ago in middle school and thought it was really cool, and now we’re actually going to play it! Im very excited :P second violin here
this peice really shows how genious richard is. its so clear to tell that there are 4 elements being repersented in this peice from earth, air, water, and finally fire. each expressing itself with vibrant and much feeling. what made me feel so much join in this peice is when the third section(water) appeared it started as plucking and very short notes like water dropletts evertually ending up into faster smother bows like longer rain is being poured. truly an unforgetable peice.
They may be easy notes, it’s a matter of execution. The strong 5/4 beat of the cellos in Earth can’t be sloppy or the transition of notes in the slurs in any of the parts Water as well, the drops can’t be too strong or weak, but just like the subtle drops in water. Completely agree. They’re definitely the easiest though 😂
I enjoy how the violins don't overpower the other instruments, especially the bass, it is very clear and easy to hear

I appreciate the Violas, even know I'm a violin player, I just love hearing the viola section play so beautifully!

I love that the lead in to water is raindrops. One drop, then two, and it swells you into a flowing river

Earth is so much fun to play

And water is kinda like milky/creamy
Air is so light and fluffy
Earth and Fire are my two favorite sections - they have intense, yet beautiful tones, which I love in music. Very emotional and dramatic!
Yeah! Seems very few people like earth as much as the other sections, but I think it’s really good!
I think that the cellos in earth are spectacular! Wow!

Sort of, writing songs about the 4 elements (4 humors) has been a thing for ever, but that is a neat connection
at :55 it reminded me of jupiter
To me, earth sounds like Jupiter, air sounds like Mercury, water sounds like Venus, and fire sounds like Uranus from the planets
I really do like 'Water' and 'Fire'. Because on is very nice and smooth, the other is fast and epic
my favorite is water because the epic viola part, we get melody almost the entire time

epic gamer moment

When do we get a piece about the 118 elements?
What would the last few elements sound like 🤔
Earth sounds kinda like Holstein's Jupiter peice, or atleast the melody.
