    The chickens weren’t very happy.
    Undoubtedly, it’s an incredibly tough and challenging task, and you, my friend, with this video, showcase the beauty of such hard work.

    Hi Vince and family. Enjoyed seeing some Drone footage with your new drone. Drones have certainly taken video production to the next level.
    Thanks for the cute footage of Amber working along side of you and Caroline on your homestead chores. Never knew they make a Snow pusher for kids as well. It is great practice for her and makes her feel part of the whole operation.
    Glad to see the Sheep Small and Princess on the mend. Looks like all of your work to look in on them and doctoring them back to health paid off. For awhile it didn't look like Princess would recover so it is awesome seeing her doing better. Must say that your English is great Vince, with it being your second language.
    Glad that you had your growing room that has a warmer temperature to help warm up their body temperature.
    Looks like 2025 is off to a good start for your family and operation so wish you continued success as the year unfolds.

      Glad you enjoyed it!
      She's wanting to join in with everything we do at the moment, so it's nice to have little shovels, wheelbarrows, spades etc. for her. It'll be a valuable learning experience for when she grows up!
      We're also so happy to see those lambs do better again, especially considering how bad Princess was doing!
      Thanks for your compliment. I was lucky enough to start with English at a very young age and it all paid off when I scored myself a beautiful Scottish wife!
      This is indeed a great start to the year and we're excited about it. We learned so much in the first year, that we can't wait to put it to good use this second year.
      Thanks again for a wonderful message and best wishes from the whole family.

    It's a lesson learnt and thankfully you were able to save both of them. I was wondering about the shearing but I have no experience at all when it comes to snow, let alone those temperatures. You guys are doing a great job of it, it's not easy and you have to be there every day, it's not something you can decide to take a break on. I can't wait to see the place through all the seasons. ❤️

      Thank you for the supporting words! We certainly look forward to next season now that we have made a lot of mistakes and know how to improve on things. And we can't wait to film all the seasons, cause they're drastic changes between them and it looks amazing!

    Happy New Year, a great title for your first video of 2025. I'm really glad that you managed to save them because once a lamb goes down it's very difficult. 👍❤️

      Happy New Year to you too! It's certainly a positive start. The white lamb is still struggling with her hind leg, so hopefully it'll get better with time. At least she can get up by herself now and be with the other girls!

    That is some crazy snow, one of the reasons we live in Oklahoma. Enjoyed the video and remember to stay warm. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy new year.

      And for us the snow was a reason to move up north! Really happy you enjoyed the video and we are certainly staying warm. Christmas was nice and quiet. Hope you had a good one as well and happy new year from us all!

    Sheep and lamb (?) voices bring immediate peace. Sth a lot of people miss.
    Loved the idea of natural material insulation.
    It I may, what language does your little daughter speak? I had an impression that she spoke swedish to lambs 😊

    • @northernhomestead2024
      @northernhomestead2024  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      We had to get used to it in the beginning when they were bleating very loud, but now I enjoy working in there and talking to them.
      The sawdust as insulation is rather popular up here. It's a very cheap option and works well. And the hay we have a lot of at the moment, so why not use it!
      Amber speaks mainly English, but I speak Dutch with her, so perhaps that's what you heard her speak with the lambs? But she speaks Swedish at the pre-school and at her age she mixes the 3 languages, so maybe it was Swedish you heard...

      @northernhomestead2024 Thxs for explaining everything, it's such a joy to see that your channel grows.
      As for little lady, you are right - mixing languages of mum, dad and school gave the result I have heard.

      Thank you for your kind words!
      I've heard from other parents whose children speak multiple languages, that at around the age of 7 the penny should drop and they start to understand that they are different languages. Until then we'll have a wonderful mix of the 3!

    Loved the aerial shots. Beautiful. Have you looked into live stock heat pads for your sheep? I heard on the news that Electricity prices in your area are on the rise so perhaps agricultural heat pads are not cost effective. Excellent Video.. ! !

      @northernhomestead2024  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you! I haven't looked into those heat pads yet, but I will, just to see what the options are out there. They love to raise the electric prices in the winter when you use it the most... Since we only need less than half of the growing room for our seedlings, we were thinking of using the other half for sick animals and lambing. This would save us electricity as the heatpump will be on anyway for our plants.
      Really happy you enjoyed the video!!

    Zielig voor de beesten, maar waaom zijn ze geschoren? Doe je dat ook in de winter? Want ze zullen erg koud zijn denk ik, gelukkig dat je nu weet wat de oorzaak is, en je hebt er wat aan gedaan, good for you!
    I just heard that shearing was late this year, perhaps it would have been better to skip it, since they need the wool to insulate themselves...ah well we all learn something new every day!

    • @northernhomestead2024
      @northernhomestead2024  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Ja echt zielig. Dit ras moet dus 2 keer per jaar geschoren worden en dat deed ik dus te laat ja. I should have sheared them in September already, but I was afraid to do it as it was my first time and so I kept putting it off until it was too late and I should've just left their wool. Tough lesson to learn. As we keep saying, it's a steep learning curve out here!

      You did the right thing in the end, that's what matters, we all make mistakes, and we (hopefully) learn from them...@northernhomestead2024
