One aspect to consider for the pet atk speed is that a faster cat (Starving Mountain Lion 1.2) will do more knockback on casters in PvP.

The rake is bis pvp cat atm for that. But overall I still think wind serpent is better for pvp just because it slices through paladins and warriors like butter.

I was a bit confused by the runes part in your video - We have 2 hunters in our raid, should 1 of us always be using Lion and the other MM? We are both BM spec (16,0,0) in Talents.

In the talents and runes, you mentioned using Master Marksman as the second hunter, but it was maybe a tiny bit vague if that was only for MM spec, or also applies to BM spec. Sorry if it's obvious, but I just wanted to triple check.
You want to use MM if another hunter in the group is already running the lion buff since they do not stack. But if there is not another hunter always use the lion buff

The pet bar is just ShadowedUnitFrames and I adjusted it to my liking
Do you need to queue startattack before you run in? When I melee weave I always end up sitting there for 3 seconds waiting for raptor strike to go off.
I find Brutal War Axe alright to max weave with, you only have to wait like 0.2s for raptors
Also - thoughts on running BM rune over chimera? I just find the latter to be weak, and the time you spend setting up serpent & chimera just wastes weaves. Much more manageable with mana too
Yea bm always outdoes chimera, even as MM. and if you have to run lion, you’ll never run chimera anyway since it’s just way too mama intensive this phase. There’s a lot of off info in this guide. You use BM for single target, and in trash mobs you fill weave with carve. Also, using a wolf with r2 furious howl, and using it manually, and making sure you use it on flankings would be more damage than cat…this ESPECIALLY would hold true if you’re NOT using bm rune like he is.

do you know if the blackfathom sharp stone hit chance buff affects your bow or does it only affect hit chance on the melee weapon. would it be more worth getting the 2% extra hit or having wild strikes
Doesn't affect our ranged hit chance, only melee. And they don't stack so you can only use one. However, you'd always want to have Wild Strikes instead of a stone.
I have a question; do you have to use a 2-handed weapon? Blackfanthom Sharpening Stone gives 2% hit chance, which can be used on 2x weapons + then you have your 1% hit from epic gloves. That's 5% hit chance, which is massive and probably your most valuable stat for raiding. I don't even see you using it on your weapon in the video? Why?
If you are melee weaving and have Wild Strikes from a feral druid you will not use a sharpening stone on your weapon. However, without a feral druid then yes you would use a sharpening stone.
In this video I didn't bring any sharpening stones with me because we had 2 feral druids and one of them was suppose to run Wild Strikes but never ended up using it and screwed me over.
Hey man. Been a hunter main since OG vanilla. I've been an absolute powerhouse in both PvP and PvE. However, little embarrassing; I'm like 80% click 20% hot keys. I want to flip that ratio around and have never really delved into keybindings. You did a great job in this video with explanations and understanding. You should really make a Weak Aura/ keybind/ macro video. You'd be amazing.

I was lucky enough to get Hydra on an alt run, where no one else needed. Is it better than the trident for weaving? It has no stats, whereas the trident has agi.

Very possile, but risky with crashes and chains. I would only risk it if you have a low number of melees. Definitely the least weave-friendly fight mechanics wise in BFD
@@davidt5194 i mean just in Phase 1. So chains arent a problem. The question is will i get shadow crashes if i stay on min bow range.
@@Alex-xc6qb Oh - good question actually, sorry. I haven't actually tried weaving on P1 since we tend to have a lot of melees in group. Will update here if I get to try at some point
While maxweaving i think people are sleeping on keeping the ranged and melee weapon speed close to eachother, esp since we have 20% ms from boon, around 2.8-2.9 on ranged and 3.0 on wep felt really good since u never have to wait in melee range compared to if you use 3.6 wep for example
i will NEVER melee weave infact i am going 31 beast mastery for beast wrath and the pet stun while being a melee hunter.

You can but it likely won’t be a big dps increase until you get a solid 2H. Crescent staff, armor piercer, etc. are decent entry level 2Hs

what im not getting is the rotation. ss-shot - Autoshot - multishot - autoshot - melee - autoshot and then the multishot isnt ready, u just wait for the multishot to get off cd? and do the 2nd autoshot?
Wondering this as well, I find myself having 2 auto attacks before multi shot is ready again

What addon are you using for combat text. I can't find it. Also why are u not precasting aim shot?
It's called MiksScrollingBattleText. Also I don't used Aimed Shot or play MM spec since 16/0/0 BM is better still.
2:00 doesn't mention that you need to have at @target in your flanking strike macro in order to not get a white hit if you separate them

You'll have to make a weak aura for it. I haven't got Elvui to display pet buffs/debuffs correctly for months.
My UI is just a customized mashup of different WA's/addons that I have been using for years. I have never used ElvUI so I am not sure how the settings are but I am sure you could.

How do you resummon your pet for baron without it being at yellow loyalty? Do you need to feed it lvl 25 food? I was using eyes of the beast but it's pretty annoying
I feed it a couple times to make sure it’s at 100% then dismiss my pet, and resubmit it once I jump to the platform
If you meele weave with a 2h weapon, wont flanking strike reset the swing timer and youll have to wait a full swing before using raptor strike? Or are you dual wielding? Because there it seems easier
No, flanking strike is treated as an extra attack on GCD (like sinister strike for rogues or smth) and has no impact on swing timer.
I am just testing it and it resets swing timer.. or not reseting but always will trigger auto melee before flanking is released@@davidt5194
Nzhmusic is right. Flanking, being a melee attack on the gcd, ALWAYS starts your swing timer…this is one of the biggest gripes with the raptor resetting flanking interaction. You want to flanking first to get it on cooldown, so you can use raptor to reset it….doing this means you flanking, and your swing timer starts, and you’re forced to wait the length of your weapon speed before raptoring. So as a full melee hunter, I do indeed dual wield, as all the top dpsing melee hunters do. (Also you can benefit from the hit of TWO blackfathom sharpening stones. I don’t think davidt5194 understands what you’re mentioning. I’ve even tried a /cast flanking strike /stopcasting macro and it still runs through the timer.
@@Burlehmangus Ah sorry, I think I understand now - it was ambiguous.
Flanking will START your swing timer when used since it's a melee ability (like wing clip will do). OP stated it RESETS your swing timer, which isn't the case.
I agree that trying to macro to get flanking resets is really annoying... So far I just accept the slight inefficiency and just do a combined macro for weaves, but it seems that having 2 separate macros for FS & Raptor/white hit is the only way to do it consistently at the moment.
@@Burlehmangus there is macros to prevent flanking starting your swing timer, a lot are using it with 2 binds so you weave in and quickly hit both binds in correct order Flanking macro (that prevents white swing > in to Raptor macro, bind in such a way you can hit both buttons quickly so the weave stays fast.

No Druid wild strikes is a weaponbuff so you can only weaponstone the offhand if you wanna use wild strikes

Hey, why do we use Multi Shot in the rotation if it's a single target fight ?
Multi shot is your hardest hitting ranged ability in phase 1 which is why you want to prio it

You can show it if you want, I personally don't use it right now since I am not concerned with max weaving and only doing FS + Raptor Strike weaves.

Yes but you clip noticeably more. You'd actually run the 2.90 strength bow over gun if weaving for this reason

@@janakipejov3667 Yeah anything in BFD will be an upgrade. The gun has 9 higher dmg on top end than your Raptor's End, despite the speed difference.
There is a 3.40 BoE crossbow that drops off Dark Iron Riflemen in wetlands (Steelarrow Crossbow) which is amazing for weaving, better than Raptor's End, but low drop% and very expensive. Probably best to keep your current and wait for a BFD upgrade

Yes it can - cats are better than hawks with kill command since it works on bite and claw, doesn't work on LB. For melee weave builds you skip kill command and go flanking for better consistent damage over the whole fight

cause it is not instant, it is modifier. just don't press it while u r not in range for mele, than it goes well (like do not pre-queu the mele attack)

put /startattack at the bottom, your telling it to swing first, then raptor. Its doing exactly what your asking it to do.

Anyone having trouble casting Flanking strike and raptor strike separately? I have the stop attack/cast in my macro and am hitting them separately, but still getting an auto in between flank and raptor strike, resetting my swing timer.
Is your stop attack after flanking and before raptor?

Does bow speed matter for melee weaving?
A bit, yea. Anything faster than a 2.5 speed bow/gun is generally too fast to be worth it.
I prefer armor for pets > hp. You should get more value, taking more hits and also not having to heal up your pet as much.
For levelling or solo farming normal mobs, armor is definitely better. HP is better when your pet is taking spell dmg which tends to be more prevalent in raids.

No, bears are not good raid pets to use.
bears have a lower base damage modifier so they aren't good dps. petopia classic shows all the stats for each type of pet

I install all of my addons with curseforge, yes. For Weakauras you need to grab them from wago.io
A slow pet is less than a 1% dmg increase. Also any of the attack speed buffs will probably make you lose dps weaving.
IIRC from classic it's only a loss when you're stacking both Quick Shots and rapid fire. Keep in mind that berserking and epic glove active affect melee swings too.

If you weave really well, always hit the sweet spot, there is still huge gain to be had during attack speed buffs, partly due to how big wf procs can be

Nah it’s by far the best weaving weapon, top end is huge. +50 top end damage is worth a lot more than stats from trident or pre-bis greens
3.50 is not too fast to max weave on, I’d disagree with Veramos on that one
when i go in to melee and i go back to range, i stop shooting. why? am i supposed to restart autoshot every time i go into to melee?
Yes you need to restart your auto shot when you get back to ranged. Unfortunately in classic it's not automatic and it also doesn't auto swap between ranged and melee attacks depending on how far you are from the target.

It's been a thing since original classic and always gaining more traction. Blizzard said they plan to support melee weaving even more in the future too.

Its well known for the hunters that actually care about doing dmg
On the day the scorpid/wind serpent nerfs went through, I went to get a Ghost Saber and there were over 20 hunters competing for it, so I'm pretty sure it was never a big secret or anything. Wow has been out for nearly 2 decades at this point, so the community knows pretty much everything there is to find in the game.
Also petopia ctrl+F cat in the 2.0 attack speed bracket and you get the Ghost Kitty leading to a Wowhead page to how to spawn it. Its not a big secret anymore
@@nedbear1970LOL this comment. Even with full weaving, the difference between using a 1.2 cat vs 2.0 cat, or a 2.0 cat vs 2.0 wolf is still minimal. Raptor will be the same, and in this phase since there’s no dash it doesn’t matter. Also, since nobody seems to have done testing, I’m curious if a black ravaged mastiff wolf with r2 furious howl, and making sure you burn furious howl on flanking as both you and pet will benefit, might net more dps than a cat having claw vs the wolf only having bite.

As soon as you have gun or crossbow from raid, theres no way melee weave is worth, cause either weapon will always hit a lot harder than a melee attack, to the point that even if wf proccs its questionable. I guess if you take the epic sword, you could still consider it, but with the trident, it is not worth. Especially with the run time, you are essentially giving up atleast 2 auto shots for a melee attack, even when you perfect it and have boon.
Even with wsg bow its not worthed. I really dont think there is any good reason to wear two-hand in PvE. Im atm combining WSG 6agi dagger and quest 15atp sword with 2 blackfantom sharpening stone.
Melee weaving without any sharpening stone loses so much there.
This is incorrect - I got a 511 raptor crit the other day, and that's with a non-BFD weapon.
The crossbow from raid is 2.80 which is pretty comfy to weave around, you don't clip much. Until you get that, the 2.90 strength bow is best, then the 2.50 agi gun. Even with the gun it's still worth to weave.
If you're giving up two auto shots for every weave with boon, you're not moving/casting efficiently enough. Unless you have the 1.90 crossbow with def rating, which is griefing anyway.

I didn't have any footage of playing MM since it's not better than BM in Phase 1 anyways. Very few people actually play it.

That’s your prerogative. Lots of people complain that the rotation is boring, this is just a good way to spice it up.
I kinda agree with you @hvdiv all this info out about classic wow since 2019 is taking something so simple and overcomplicating it. I don't melee weave and do just fine. Sure I am not top DPS but I just don't care that much about being the best DPS in a 19 year old game.

Huh? I melee weave the entire time in the background lol. With a 2.8 speed Crossbow (Azshari Arbalest) it's impossible not to lose uptime on Auto Shots, but the melee weaving damage makes up for it, that's the whole point.

I don't weave phase 1 just to be safe, although it is possible. If you watch the whole fight I do weave at the end.
I do more DPS without weaving, seems like a waste of effort

This statement has been made since 2019 and melee weaving has always been a case of being better if done properly lol.
@@veramosgaming The problem here is that the extra tedious effort required is simply not worth the very minor gain in DPS for most situations. The whole dead space issue is beyond stupid for this class as originally designed and it's good that Blizz did away with it. Class fantasy with taming pets? Great. Channeled pet healing and dead space? Moronic.
Ironically, I've been top DPS on the last boss of BFD just by standing behind the boss in melee range and hitting a macroed Rattor Strike/Flanking Strike over and over. That's how poor hunter design is in Classic.

being top dps in a group doesn't objectively mean you are doing good dps, just means you are doing better than the scrubs along with you.
also if you don't like the design of a class, there's a simple solution. don't play it.
