Nice to see the lads back again- although Jordan still manages to pop up. John’s knowledge 🤌 Him and Reuben always make me lol. Let’s get back to more vids like this!
I live in Portugal and now I understand why some English customers ask me to place the electrical panel inside a cupboard! Here our technical rules do not allow it, they have to normally be located at the entrance to the house. I really enjoy watching your videos and understanding what your electrical installations are like.
@14:08, the longer the cable, the more capacitive it is. By applying high test voltage to the cable from the hand held test equipment, this capacitance in the cable is charging up. When a capacitor is discharged, it effectively is a short circuit and will draw the maximum current the test equipment can source. This is why the insulation reading is low. As this capacitance of the cable charges up, it draw less current which means the insulation reading on the test equipment increases over time.
This capacitance hasn't had time to self discharge by the time he performs the second test. Would be interesting to see if the conductors are temporarily shorted together before the start of the second test.
One of the best videos. Love the banter between the lads. Nice Man Love going on lol. Been in the trade since 1988 and this is great for mental health. Well done guys!
Thorough inspection here the way it should be done! Clearly the customer opted to pay the right price for a full and in depth inspection of the installation only after realising the mess they have gotten themselves into by allowing "Builders" to operate as "electricians"🤭
Great watching these videos, all the guys are good at explaining what’s what, not as I understand the technical stuff, and fluent no “ums”, “ahs” or “you know what” etc.
Nice one chaps. My main concern is with two CUs with a combined approx 28 ways and the two seperate mini CUs next to one of the CUs, what on earth is the main fuse compared to the maximum demand?
These aren't that bad, we had some "builder" in and had no end of problems after they left. One the leccy side we had an LED light stripe to a bathroom cabinet. The subsequent electrician who sorted out the mess found that they ran a power cable to the back of the unit and then wrapped the live and neutral around the 3 pin socket for the light stripe and "secured" it with electrical tape.... The plumbing was just as fun as we ended up with an unvented system with 2 of the 3 fail safes installed incorrectly and a pump on the system for the shower.... Joy....
Any electricians in the comments, I have been wondering when people are trying to trace circuits, is there any reason you cant just shove a somethings like a telco tonner on and go around with the wand. Any mysterious circuits, plug that on and go around and you may be able to locate it, I am not sure if it works like this with home electrics too, but a good earth helps you tone it really well and given if you are tracing it from the consumer unit theres a earth block right there
You can and I've done it - but you have to be dead certain that the cable is fully isolated to connect the tone generator. If they're buried deep in a wall sometimes the tracer won't find it. It's also tricky to use them when cables are close together - sometimes the cable you're testing will couple onto another. It is a usable trick but it's not a silver bullet. The CAT and TOMKAT type outside tracers (used with a suitable tone generator eg a Genny) are well worth having for tracking buried outside cables, I had to track down a bunch of outside lighting cables to replace them - and after that job I wouldn't be without mine.
@maxwellboyne2770 that's what I mean any trade be it plasterer a builder it's really isn't that hard. It's basic stuff we learnt in science in middle school.
Would 63 downlights be too much on a radial 1.5mm circuit? Is there a limit? I’ve wondered this for a while because an LED GU10 is maybe 6w. So 63 x 6 = 378w draw
Nah, that would only pull 1.6 amps and I doubt the rest of the lighting circuit would be pulling 4 Amps so it will be absolutely fine, could get away with 1mm
Good work but too many accronyms. Can you provide an ACT please? Accronym Conversion Table of course! A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous ... good luck guys
You're heading in the wrong direction! This is pure click bait and you know it. There are many competent builders who can also do electrics properly (or contract appropriate electricians). Come on guys!
Ah, so then nobody would be able to find an electrician, and the builders would be asked to do it instead? 😆 (I'm only joking - I know what point you're making there, and well done to your unions and their members for being willing to stand up when safety's at stake!)
Hi cory keep it up you are doing a great job and having fun making some brilliant videos superstar Ali Walsall west midlands england junction 10 m6 Walsall churckery
And here we go again. This channel is focussed on slagging off other trades, other sparks and DIYers. Come on guys, get a life. You have skills, so be nice and be positive.
Maybe just grow up and stop doing these stupid rings. Your electric is 30 years behind europe... think about those sockets next to the sink or basin if in doubt... "why would you ever use 3 core?" because you can connect it to a double switch dum dum...
Great vids, but,, I’m trying hard to listen to what they are saying (they don’t talk loud anyway) and you get the music playing over them,, I’m missing important stuff Play the music (if you must) on parts where there is no commentary!!!! Come on you guys, makes sense.

Oh yes, this is why you should always use an electrician for jobs like this. They know the rules!
That’s interesting, why would that have the added effect of collecting a charge faster the second time round as Lee eluded to?
This capacitance hasn't had time to self discharge by the time he performs the second test. Would be interesting to see if the conductors are temporarily shorted together before the start of the second test.
Ho7 is nice cable to use for power tools nice and flexible.
But not ideal for permanent installations.

Love John Ward. A proper electrical engineer.
Builders shouldn’t do electrics you say’’ there is also many so called electricians who shouldn’t do electrics.
True 😅

The guy doing the Tradify ad has an awesome voice, do more work on the channel!
15:50 Another Aussie-ism from Reuben. Lol
They should adopt the same rules as in Sweden, if a builder had been touching electrics here they would be sued and go to court
back to normal programming. Finally, tell Jordan if his on holiday to enjoy himself!
He will not allow that haha
Link for the meter used to trip the rcd? Thanks
It concerns me that anyone thats in the trade cant handle basic electrics. Ring circuits arent complicated and fitting a socket is easy.
@maxwellboyne2770 that's what I mean any trade be it plasterer a builder it's really isn't that hard. It's basic stuff we learnt in science in middle school.
@maxwellboyne2770 I'm not it doesn't take a genius
Does anyone feel like they’ve watched Reuben grow up?
Amazing to see 🥲
He's certainly becoming more Adult. Please never accuse an Electrician of Growing Up. Grown-ups are boring, look at Accountants!
I really enjoyed the video. Well done guys! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very professional guys.
😎
At 10:44 when he set the Megger to 500V is that not dangerous to connected devices(garage door and lights)?
So awsome do u havemore. Footage of that i would like to see more

The only issue I can think of is higher resistance on the continuity with all the connections
It would be terrible design and depending how it was switched you could well get nuisance tripping on inrush. Why 63 lights on one circuit?
Why is the main panel inside a cabinet?
