I do agree it sits on the weak side, and should probably be updated to also give base eitr (Not only regen), and maybe also add a set bonus on top (Extra elemental damage?)

I find the mage armor very worth it. Eat two Eitr rich foods and a Stamina rich food. (I know, no health makes you weak. But you're a MAGE. You're SUPPOSED to be a glass cannon.) Since you only need to use Stamina for running away and jumping, and your attacks all use Eitr instead of Stamina, you can run and gun much more efficiently than any other build. Run out of Eitr? Have a few Eitr mead with you or just keep running while your Eitr meter charges. Keep using your protection bubble and just MOVE. It actually works fairly well, and you can use summoned skeletons to distract your enemy when you need to.
I personally wear fenris hood for the drip and the movement speed, padded or carapace chest, and the mage trousers. Good balance of armor and movement bonuses, (only have -4% movespeed) and a bit of eitr regen. However I am tempted to drop the mage armor entirely because magic is still useful at base regen. The mage bubble lasts a minute so regen doesnt matter as much, you can reliably keep that up at base eitr regen. The staff of embers provides a nice ranged option with good damage and AOE, but I'd rather shoot fewer fireballs per fight in exchange for better protection or better movement speed, since I have other ranged and AOE options in the Arbalest and the Krom/Demolisher. Magic is very powerful but it does get a little boring slowly burning every enemy down with the staff of embers from range. I'd rather keep it as a utility option for enemies weak to fire and focus mainly on melee and conventional ranged attacks
I think magic need alternate attack like the other weapons to keep it from feeling stale. Magic regen while rested is plenty if you ask me. I just dont like giving up a health or stamina food.
Yes, on my first try I came to the same conclusion: Mage Pants and Hat, different Armour on. Since I learned to love the root armours piers resistance, I rely on fire potions,...
This is only a theory, but It might be that the Eitr regen bonus is multiplicative rather than additive, meaning that each piece gives an incrementally diminishing return. Say for the sake of easier numbers that every piece of gear is +50%. The first piece of gear would result in a cumulative 50%, but the second piece would yield 50% of what remains, or 25%. And the third would yield 12.5%, for a cumulative total of 87.5%, rather than the expected 150%. This suggests that rather than a buff to Eitr regen, it's a reduction of a hidden cooldown timer.
I think another commenter hit it on the head. The rested buff adds plus 100% eitr regen (I didn't know this), so based on that the Mage clothes are working as intended. I was essentially adding 100% to 200% instead of 100% to 100%. If that makes any sense. The numbers are still useful though because they give you the expected eitr regen of mage clothes while rested.

For awhile I ran with mage chest/pants, with carapace helm for a good mix, but I have actually swapped to full mage armor. It becomes more worthwhile the higher your mage skill gets, my blood magic is level 87 right now, and the shields are worth over 600 HP (no armor applies to it, so it's not as great as it sounds, but they usually last 2-3 hits) Add 3 skeletons, tanking aggro, each with a shield on every cast, my "durability" has nothing to do with my armor, it has to do with how quickly I can refresh my shields, and in that case, every bit of eitr Regen helps, often, I only have 20-30 HP with all the blood magic casts, but i rarely ever feel like im in danger In addition, Regen is DPS when your a mage, unlike with other weapons, you don't have to save some stamina, your casting when you have eitr or "on cooldown" and eitr Regen ends up "shortening" the cooldown, and that shorter "cooldown" helps you keep enemies burning so you can increase the fire tick rate, compounding DPS further ;D TLDR, it's good enough, but you need to fully commit to mage, and get your blood magic up
The Eitr regen's not the problem with magic in the first place(the base costs for effects are too high), so the armor's bonus for that isn't super great. The Eitr armor is defensively around what a Plains light armor set should be defense-wise, while lacking a defensive buff to be competitive with the Fenris and Root armor sets. Meanwhile, it also has a speed penalty, as well, making it an ever harder sell. There is *no* set bonus, so one could easily just grab one piece of it and mix it with pieces from the other 2 sets and be better off overall than just using the set proper. Even just getting the Root chest piece with its Pierce Resistance would more than make up for the armor Eitr regeneration gaps. Given that the hood is only 20% Eitr regen, could even use the Fenris one instead to offset the speed penalties of the other 2 armor pieces. All in all, the Rested Bonus seems more useful to magic use than the Eitr armor set.
Being that it may have been clarified that the rested bonus might haave played effect, as well as the protection staff in game renders armor useless, i wonder what new armor combo would be best, now that fenris s lack in armor is no longer an issue per sa and magic regen armor is still optimal for mage builds overall
It depends on playstyle, but overall I'd probably say Carapace helm, Root Chest, and Fenris legs is the most min maxed set you can do currently. I hope they add more armor sets soon.

I witnessed something while I was fighting the Dvergers in their tower last night that really made me think the combat numbers are NOT working properly maybe sometimes maybe always. IMO melee damage testing is pointless for the Mistlands and even to a point the same goes for the Plains the real problem is the magic damage from mages. The reason damage and resists/math does not seem to work was because of a large encounter I had with 3 mages. I had 2x Mages launching Fros attacks and seemed like no damage taken which is odd I assumed 50% reduction from the Frost mead not 100%. Then when a 3rd mage joined in it used Fire and the first fire bubble I saw .....DEAD otk instant death from what looked like full 160 hp while also having Fire mead resist pot on so nothing makes sense. The same goes for the Drauger bow it looked like only one effect was working not both the Frost arrows and the Poison from the bow.I am too lazy to setup a testing bed and spawn them in but I am certain of what I encountered it just looks inconsistent. My first thought was that the Root piece having fire weakness "I assume 50%" nullified my Fire mead but then instant death one hit did not seem to add up especially since I was taking no damage from 2x Frost mages.
Those spells have different damages. Also the big fireball spells have blunt damage as well as fire, so it is likely the blunt damage that killed you. Root doesnt cancel out the fire mead, you get the full effect no matter the armor you wear. You should also get the full damage from your frost arrows and draugr's fang, but I don't know what the dvergr resist or dont resist.

@@t0ssacoin408 yes I get the point and thanks for the explanation but I just dont understand the math behind why game isn't allowing %200. It probably is intended you are right
The math works out that way because it is +100% to the base eitr regen, and not +100% to the already boosted eitr. So if you regen 1 eitr per second with no buffs. Rested you will regen 2 eitr. In order for the armor to feel like it gives +100% eitr regen the regen needs to go to 4 eitr per second, but it will only go up to 3 eitr per second because it only adds to the base regen, and not the current regen. It is just how the math was done In the video. I was treating the rested bonus as if that should have been included in the base regen.
IMO testing should focus more on the real threats not the most encounters like the Mages are the real threats and or the Gjall or whatever it's called.SO far I been very disappointed by the gear and combat in the Mistlands but the theme atmosphere is really good. Will they ever fix the terrible aiming problem the game code has?You need to be on the same plane to hit anything with the chopping or trying to aim at the head with ranged at certain angles and VERY frustrating with the Aegnir it just looks ridiculous. Then again clipping through walls is also pretty weak coding/properties.

I don't think they will ever fix the aiming issue. As for other monsters, I have a video on the Gjall that does some testing if you are curious about that. Maybe I'll look into testing vs more mobs when ashlands releases.
Me and my friend are entering mistlands. Is it worth to play mage? I wanna go mage because it's cool and something different, or maybe I should go hybrid? What are the items should I use and what foods to eat if I'm hybrid?
@@racszgamer1355 Both work just fine. Food is always what you can produce easiest that is still good. Usually for hybrid I use a seeker aspic, honey glazed chicken, and a salad.
@@t0ssacoin408 I went with two eitr food and one health food because I tried something similar to what you said but my eitr is a little low for me so that's why I have two eitr food and It works pretty well for me, tho I don't have much stamina but oh well. For armor, I went with fenris hood, root harnesk, and eitr-weave trousers. I used the fenris hood because It gives me speed and the harnesk for the seekers, but I'm weak to fire but not really a problem for me. I'm not sure if that's a good armor set but what can I change to make it better or maybe it's already good. I appreciate you taking the time to help me.
@@racszgamer1355 I would honestly swap the fenris hood for a carpace helm for more armor, or to the eitr weave hood for more regen. If you end up using the the staff of protection, swap your health food to a stamina food. Also, since you have a root chest (best armor piece for mistlands) make sure you have barley wine to deal with fire.
@@t0ssacoin408 I might just change the fenris hood to the eitr weave hood for the regen. I do use the staff of protection so I'll replace my health food into stamina food. I already have alot of barley wine so I'm good. Anyways, thanks alot for helping me!
@@racszgamer1355 Anytime!
i just hate that eitr is tied to food and not potions... idk why they did that
I wish we all had a base eitr that we would unlock access to by wearing an accessory. Tying it completely to food feels lame
Yeah the eitr armor seems really underpowered and it reads like it's imbued in refined eitr. Yet doesn't give any. Only regen.
It is just rough because the rested buff gives +100% regen, so the eitr armor bonus really doesnt feel like it is all that much.
Sorry, but I don´t need mroe Armor for full magic setup (Armor and Food) You have that bubble, strong magic with extreme range and also that two dead guys. He kills Yagluth and Queen without big Problems alone.
Sounds good to me. Glad you are getting it out there!
I'm confused , why the root chest?
Gives pierce resistance. So it halves all pierce damage, which there is a ton of that in the Mistlands.
@@t0ssacoin408 I'll give it a try
Full mage is with it too me.
Playstyle is going to affect a lot of our choices. I can't wait to see the magic they add in the Ashlands, hopefully some really cool stuff for mage players.
Everything needs to be readressed with the deep north patch. I'm still mad an iron battle axes is only hitting for seventy when it should be hundreds like the other irons stronger than crystal makes zero sense. Armor needs to be tweaked everything. All axes besides berserkers are now useless and I don't even use them for combat better at cutting down trees than they are combat. The messed it all up with the ashlands cause if light armor from their goes to 100 how about the rest? All of them need rebalancing or they're basically useless the root harnesk is fine as is it's an enchanted item in my book.
They really need a light armor set for the plains and mistlands. Light armor doesnt have to be about the protection, but the bonuses and effects that it has. I doubt it will be addressed because I'm sure more variety in armor is something that has been requested for a while.
@@t0ssacoin408 yes. Yes armor has to be about protection. When you have a set that's at 100 and the rest are lower what reason do you have to use it? Harnesk yeah enchantment the others fenris is outdated so on and so forth I won't use any other than ask for devs who want a balanced game they sure know nothing about it so far. Cause nothing is. A crystal axe is stronger than metal think about that one. A rock is better than metal. Zero sense all it should it should have over Is sprit damage. Sorry off track a little but I'm sure you see that point all the mistlands and ashlands did was upset balance and they never fixed it.
@@t0ssacoin408 but yes I agree they need to add sets for them. It looks like they dont plan to until the deep north.
