I live in a country thar crosses the equator line and I keep telling myself and others around me how priviliged we are for having sunny days for like 90% of the year. Most of us here tend to whine a lot about "how hot it is" or "how harsh the sun is" and we forget to appreciate something that is very uncommon for many people around the world. I also feel like when you go out by bike you tend to appreciate the sun more than if you go out by car. That's why I often try to ride a bike when it's sunny, and I always feel great after it!
Yeah, I mean the sun is also dangerous, especially for pale Scandinavians, but it’s vital to absorb sunlight, so the sensitive skin is also a risk reward situation :D. and I am pretty bad at handling heat, but yeah the sun is a blessing so you gotta remember to enjoy it. Happy to hear that you get out with your bike!
I live in northern Germany at about 53 degrees north latitude, and even here I find it a bit extreme, both with the short days in winter and the long days in summer. So respect to you and all the other Scandinavians who have to endure it further north. Very good attitude !☀😊
Two things. First, it's amazing that pedal spins that freely after being in a swamp. Second, I feel the pain about the sun and getting outside, too. We suffer similarly, in MN. Having a bike with snow tires has given me much more permission these last couple of years to go out even when it's cold, dark, or snowy. I wonder if the Swedes, Norse, and Finns were drawn to this region because it's so much like 'home'...
Shrek is a miracle bike. Yeah, the Minnesota climate is for sure what made scandis move there :) they knew how the crops work and how to survive in harsh climates!
I'm excited about the Winter Beater, it seems to be a really nice bike. I hope your knee injury heals well, as always great video. Shrek didn't want to go back to the swamp😅
Shrek really wants to keep riding! Thank you, the knee is much better than a few weeks ago. Yeah the roadie is really nice. I’ve done a lot of great rides with it.
Yeah, but I don’t want the garbage bikes to have high saddles. They are not meant to be ridden like sporty bikes, they are just convenience machines, plus I don’t think the posts can extend that much on them, as the bikes where never intended for my long legs :)
I'm a huge fan of all year riding: you get to notice the sunrise/sunset and generically always know the weather because you're out in it all the time. Having a beater/garbage bike helps because you're not super worried about weather effects on the bike--yes you have to think about ensuring that you can ride it, but other than that, just get on and roll.
Thank you very much! No promises but yeah I always feel the happiest when I have a video in the making so I really don’t want to take breaks from making them :)
i've been missing the sun for quite a while, for a month or so it has been raining almost everyday here in Brazil and it's getting quite depressive. i complained a lot about the heat, but it is what they say "you only miss something when it's gone".
I'm not sure if this is something you already noticed or mentioned about shrek, but I think you have an internal gear hub on that bike! you might be able to get that in working order so you can have multiple gears
Yup, you’re right! It’s a three speed. I tucked the gear shifter into the frame when I was switching handlebars. I lost one of the pieces that I need to attach it again. Also I don’t care much for switching gears anyways :) but yeah, I should figure it out again at some point
@@addvurtbikes That's awesome! I'm a bit of a gear hub nerd so I just get excited to see them since they're so sparse in the US. She's fit for the swamp regardless :)
Yes, I think so. Unless it's a different number, but it's specialised tactic for sure! I bought it one size too big, but it's pretty good for the winter cuz I can fit a big warm beanie hat under it :)
as a newbie to the hobby, i really really appreciate your more casual approach to cycling- never miss a video. keep it up dude!
Heeeey thank you so much! I appreciate that :)
For a split second I thought you were going to toss Shrek back into the swamp. I'm glad you didn't.
Haha yes I was trolling a bit there. Imagine if I threw it in. Wild card behaviour.

Thank you! Yeah northen Germany is also fairly north if you take a look at how small Europe is on the globe :)
@@addvurtbikes That's true, our continent is almost frighteningly small... Small but beautiful 😊
Find the joy…sunshine is a luxury others miss…the essence of cycling. Cheap and simple enables this so much better. Lovely video again❤
Thank you my friend! You're right, the best things are free :) Sun, fresh air, exercise :)

good to see shrek running strong. and yes i love the winter so much, my favorite season by far:)
Shrek is powerful! Glad to hear that you like winter :) I just tolerate it, but riding is still nice :)
I love that you took Shrek back to visit 😆
I’m not sure if Shrek felt connected to its roots or scared to be thrown back in, but yeah, it felt fitting to visit the swamp :)
Love the outlook on riding
@addvurtbikes so cool that you recognised her! Yeah, she's visiting the area
Great girl!
Wouldn't a taller seatpost, on your garbage bikes, be a benefit to your knee and spinning?

All year riding is great for you! I have decided to not let myself be beaten by the winter this year! Even if it’s short rides, I’m gonna ride!
@@addvurtbikes even a 5 minute ride is worth it!

Sorry about the rain. Sounds like you have pretty extreme weather over there.
sending love from FL
Thank you thank you :)
Thank you for making this video ! I’m going to build a bike like this and take some lunch rides.
Thank YOU for watching :) That's a great idea! I hope it turns out nice :)

Awesome
fresh helmet!
Thanks!
Sweden looks so nice. I gave you a shoutout in my last video.
Thank you very much! Looked like a great ride :)
Is ur helmet a specialized tactic 4?
Yes, I think so. Unless it's a different number, but it's specialised tactic for sure! I bought it one size too big, but it's pretty good for the winter cuz I can fit a big warm beanie hat under it :)
@addvurtbikes we have the same helmet and online clothes buying skills by the sound of it hahaha
Cool video :)
Thank you!

Do you like shrek more than the original garbage bike?
I like them equally but I ride Shrek for now because I will give it away for Christmas :)
