I really feel like this song was about Gerard's addictions, and how he kept wanting to quit but he was battling with trying to control himself. It's written as if it's about a girl, and for the longest time I thought it was, but when you think about it and really listen to it, you can hear his pain and how so badly he wants to quit and be free from his addiction, but he doesn't want to let go of the feeling the drugs and alcohol give him. I think the girl In the song represents his addiction, and how she doesn't want him to quit, and he's always giving into her in the song. It's such a sad song, to think about being in that state of utter depression and feeling like you have no control, and I think this song captures that feeling perfectly.

Same exact thing happened with Coheed&Cambria's 'Second Stage Turbine Blade', their 1st full length album. FF another year down the road (approximately 2004) and In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 their send full length album, hit shelves. And the funniest part to me is the fact that after a cpl more albums hit they had changed their sound, become extremely mainstream, and I started to lose the interest I once had but these savage cats who persecuted me about the band LOVED their new sound and passionately carried the C&C torch from there on, LoL. I haven't listened to a C&C album fully since Afterman: Ascension - which I was not a fan of. I still get texts from these guys informing me when they're going to a show or when an album has dropped, to which I thank them and go on about my day bc C&C haven't been relevant to me since No World For Tomorrow or Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV: Vol. 1 From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness (...yeah, I know).
