North india has their own sets of rituals that are followed after 12 days of baby' birth and then again at the end of the month. Just because there amalgamation of other influence doesn't mean people dont follow their own traditions. This is 21st century and the mix of ethinc and modern is normal. This doesn't make anyone less "Indian". Its engrained in us and always will be.
