He was also Superintendent of the academy when JEB Stuart was a cadet. He was offered command of the Union Army in the spring of 1861, he turned it down, but when Virginia seceded he resigned his commission. I consider Lee a man if honor and conscience who merely fought against an intrusive federal government. I would do the same. Now those men who opposed a government which pushed itself to the forefront of violating the Cobstitution. Now the shiny snowflakes say such men are traitors. They just did what their ancestors did. Oh boy.. new butter bars, we had a new butter bar assigned to our unit, while walking through a swamp one night, he hit a soft spot and started to sink. The dude started to panic, It was easy to just extend a hand and pull him out. In another incident, I was TDY to jump school from the 1/75th. A butter bar could not keep up during morning PT runs, as I was behind him I would push him when he started to slack that was standard procedure in a Ranger unit... guess who decided to pull rank?
PADSO is post of choice. For an additional 3 years of service they are able to pick a post of their choosing even if the regular slots are all filled. 25th ID is out of Hawaii.

As an old 1/509 er in Vicenza Italy in 1982-84 I knew Italy would go fast. As an enlisted Grunt I was told by my 2Lt. One night that only the top people from West Point get chosen for Italy. I signed up for the 509 on contract but was sent to Ranger school and then to Italy. Hope they still run Monte Berrico on numbered tongue depressor runs. Find an old timer or someone who knows how that went , it was brutal and you didn’t want to be the last in with Col. Nukem Needham looking at you. But women in the infantry ? Outboard personnel stand up- inboard personnel standup -check static lines -check tampons .. All OK JUMPMASTER
I am ashamed that I was convinced that everything would equal in Ranger School and RASP. They failed. If you can’t meet the requirements of a school that has requirements; why split up the men and women with standards?
