Italy is a good duty station to go too. Beautiful country during the spring and summer. Gets really cool during the winter months. I spend 15 months in northern Italy with the 559 Field Artillery Group from June 1981 to September 1982.
Can somebody please explain the process here ? What's on the second board they pick from ? In my day (1979) you filled in your "dream Sheet " and they sent you anywhere but there !
Heh - at my Infantry posting night ('78) we didn't get nice cards or whatever those are, and very few got brigade-level assignments (I did as 3rd Bde 1st ID was then forward in Germany and that was my pick). I missed Italy by one spot. No regrets, though.
Questions? Do the cadets know where they assignments are before the date of this event? What do they do until their course starts? Can the attend Airborne or Rangers schools etc??
This is where they find out where they are going. Every one of them will be expected to attend Ranger and airborne School after the infantry officer basic course
Ok, misunderstood. Did you graduate USMA? Just curious. They graduate around May 27, most will go on a one month leave, then they will attend the infantry basic course. A few will attend airborne school before and after the infantry course, all will attend ranger school after the basic course. Once ranger is completed, they then report to the duty Station that they selected in the video. Sometime around Jan - Feb of 2023.
@@josephjones5582 OK, I didn't know if they had to finish basic course before attending Ranger School. There was a fella that graduated a few years ago. He was prior serve 11B and had come out of Ranger Batt. Attended all of the schools. I don't think he went Infantry. but another direction. I guess his vacation might have been longer before attending IBOLC. BTW, I am prior serve, but enlisted. Just curious.
@@josephjones5582 Why do all of them attend Ranger school? They all become Rangers? And if so, what of those who didnt graduate a Ranger? (not from US).
Nice to see that the 25th was a popular duty station after the European duty stations. Welcome to the Tropic Lightning Lieutenants. Just please don't try to going swimming or surfing on the North Shore in the winter months. Also, if you're like me, you'll love the Big Island. But when did the 25th get an element in Alaska? I mean, we used to go there for training, but I don't remember us having an element there. Nevermind, I just looked it up. Activated in 2005. 17 years after my time.
To all the future Sky Soldiers, understand that there is no place to work there. No place to train. It's greatness stems from a tradition of innovative, pipe-hitting leadership. Go crush it
For some reason, this was provided through the algorithm so I checked it out and it seemed interesting. Asking as a city cop because I just don't know but did these cadets choose their assignments or did the Army send them to those units?

Italy goes first! After all these years, some things never change!
Yup. Berlin Brigade would go quick then Hawaii then Fts Lewis and Carson. No one wanted Polk!
Forgive me for being ignorant, but is there any reason why?
is there gonna be another war inwhich 1000+ us troops get killed in the next 50 years?
