Probably not! Certainly Shayne doesn't realise the work and sailing he does is not that obvious to everyone else. That's why I (Anna) try to make these videos 😅 It is challenging to film and edit videos while we work on Paikea plus we both work full time jobs so THANK YOU for the wonderful feedback ! 😁
I find it funny you would compare a 40ft cruising mono with a 42ft performance cruising cat. Can get a 40ft mono like that for under 80k, which is not comparable to the price of a Catana 42. The mono also looks like it is not tacking as best as the boat should be capable of. I get both cats and monos are great in different ways, but if you're going to compare at least compare like with like! You have a beautiful boat and a great channel and thanks for the videos!
Awesome as always !!! Should you pass by Gibraltar or any port around that area on your way back out and you need anything let me know. Live just around the corner :)
Awesome trip, every time I had to have the boat somewhere it was always to windward. Great weather and sea state, when she was little my daughter used to call it bumpy bumps, she and I were the only ones who never got sick.
3 am or so somewhere between Sri Lanka and Maldives, doing 7-8 knots. Big bang as we were both below. We were convinced it was the stbd hull daggerboard. But a month later we found a big bite out of the port one. It's a bit hard to really figure out sounds of collisions sometimes.
What Shane! You going to work for Jimmy "the Devil" Spithill?? NZ's archrival enemy. But I suppose a man's gotta work to support his family's lifestyle! Good luck. Love your channel. Cheers from NZ
Nice video as usual guys thanks. The repair to my C47 daggerboard was poorly done and the bottom folded off the other day so here I am in SE Asia gathering materials to take out my good board make 2 half molds from it and make myself a new daggerboard. I am aiming to use gelcoat then vinylester resin for the 2 halves and make the box support down the centre in unidirectional carbon fibre for strength. Using vacuum bagging on the carbon. I am thinking of 4 x layers of 600gm biax cloth for the shells ? Shane do you think that’s plenty strong for the shell ? And 12 layers of 200gm of unidirectional carbon fibre 100mm wide for the box formation inside using epoxy resin (West systems). Your comments will be appreciated
yup... we just pulled away from a one year old 47' dufour Mono upwind in 15 knots over the weekend. we were as high as them but faster... the skipper was amazed that "Cats can go to windward"....
Whoops, ignore my previous comment. I thought I heard the Italian team mentioned in relation to Am Cup 2024 but when I played the video back I was wrong. So what team are you working for Shane?
Awesome video as always guys. Quick question about your steering. We are just about to start the build of a new cat and debating our steering set up. I see your steering is hydraulic? If it is how do you find it and do you have a hydraulic tie bar to connect both rudders?
You may not realise just how helpful your video’s are. Really very good stuff from proper sailors who know what they are doing 🙏

Love the rolling right by the monohull part, “cats don’t go upwind?” 😂
👊 oh yeah!
Keep up the great work guys, your customising has made this my favorite boat ever, not suprised it goes so well upwind, it's brilliant!
Love watching your family take care of business! Safe travels!

Great video ! One question: Why you have one SS shroud and the other is synthetic?
QTVLM...Amazing free software! What kind of map do you use with it? Thx and happy new year to the all crew!
I think we talk about it all here th-cam.com/video/TSaxmav_HuI/w-d-xo.html

Good luck with the Orcas
As usual, great content. Thanks
Hard on the wind, both boards down?
Correct 😁
Be careful of the Orcas by Gibraltar
