Thanks for quick to the point video. You mentioned cleaning the area the flap before replacing. How do you clean it? Do I need special tools or cleanser?
Some paper towel or a cloth with some mild soap is usually good enough to clean off any debris to get a clean smooth surface for the flapper to seal to. Thanks for watching!
Gonna drop a question here, not too unique I'm sure. The next flush kit I buy will be the fourth. I've got it down pretty good as far as installation goes. Thing is, it'll go two or three months trouble free. Then it'll start again. Barely audible, and for short durations at first, but the louder it gets, the longer it runs, or vice versa, until it's just as bad as the worst. I've run my fingers on the seat for the flapper and it feels smooth to me. The one thing I know, where I am, the water pressure it higher than most places in my smallish community. Is it possible the water pressure has something to do with this? Thanks.
Yes definitely possible, pick up a 200 psi pressure gauge from Home Depot. I have a video called, How to Lower water pressure & extend plumbing fixture life. It could also be mineral deposits forming on the parts depending on water source. Hope this helps!
Yeah like he said, mineral deposits. If your water is hard, the minerals will adhere to the surface of the tank and it's parts. I would clean the mating surface of the tank and flapper monthly to keep it under control.
That's a tricky one. Next time washing machine is in drain cycle check toilet bowl water level to see if it moves or causes toilet to run. If so you may have a partially blocked drain or vent.
I replaced the flapper a couple of years ago (I've done it many times in many homes over a lifetime). It didn't help at all this time around. Very hard water here, but that's not the first time/place where I've had this problem. This a newer toilet, the porcelain is poor quality compared to toilets of 60, 70 years ago. Stains easily. And it was marketed as a water saving toilet. Now, make a video on that, please.
Hard water definitely can cause problems with fixtures. The plastic part of the flush valve where the flapper seats must be clean & void of any flaws for the flapper to seal properly. Sometimes you have to change the whole flush valve assembly. I will make a video if I run into this problem at some point.
help. mine is a new toilet with the flusher on top of tank lid, push button to flush. it doesn't have any of those recognizable parts. leaks every 10 minutes or so
@@bornagain2641lf it’s not a flapper issue it could be an adjustment required on the push button flush depths but I’d say if it’s a new toilet ask at the store or the company you purchased from.
Also it could be the over fill tube being to far down into the tube. It should only go down to above the full water line
This is really special when I'm in the shower. I go from comfortable to scaled in a second.
That just happened to me
THanks for the alternative. I put in a new flapper and that did nothing for the problem
Thank you this video it helped me

Jensen, I notice that my toilet runs intermittently when I use water in other parts of the apartment, i.e. do laundry. Any ideas?

I've installed a new fill valve and flapper. Still having the same issue.
Me too 🥴
@ms.achieve3777 check for cracks in the overflow tube. That's what I found.
