I play on vintages myself and find I agree with this experience of it having a darker and warmer tone. It's also more flexible to my mind: good for orchestra, pit shows, jazz, and chamber music. I expect the tradition would feel similar but I haven't played on it. The Tosca I've tried had better intonation and a beautiful tone, but as one retailer put it to me: it always sounds beautiful, and that's not always the sound we may want to produce on a clarinet.
Either I have lucked out or I am just a buffoon (who mainly plays bassoon) but I've tried my Festivals next to Prestige and Vintage and Tosca and can tell a difference, but never enough to merit the switch/upgrade to Tosca or Festival. I notice a difference most with the Prestige and Tosca bass clarinets, but not as much (if any) when playing my Festivals next to a Tosca clarinet...
Im kind of shocked but as similar as they all sound the Festival simply has more focus than the other two. The Festival wins. Traditon is the darkest but vintage is more middle of the road
Good Grief!
What brilliant playing !!
😄😄♥️♥️😘🎵🎵
Thank you for this informative and beautiful comparison! I wanted to hear the differences, but few stores carry these 3
