Hi Earl Loving this video Series with the Moto X cant wait to Drive mine when it arrives , these videos a sure a great help and takes the fear away from giving it a go to modify ourselves , i can see Losi and Perhaps others taking note that this was a way forward and a different driving/riding RC experience for a wider range of people in RC , Cheers Andrew Magro - Mag RC
Hey Earl, with the aid of the electronics mount kit (LOS261013).... The 100a esc with the removal of its mounting tabs will fit in the Promoto using the provided mount in the kit...
Pretty interesting how they got everything in there. As a self taught mechanic this is the stuff I like to see , what actually makes something work and how it’s put together
Yes thinking outside the box is what I like to show specially with the external BEC I’ve tried several of them that smoked right away years ago till I found this bigger castle BEC never be afraid to try something even if you smoke a few things learning is key for self learning mechanics 👍
Get on earl glad u done vid showing us all how to do it? Yes it do look like esc to big, I know you can do it locking forward to next vid cheers earl 👍 😮
Thank you so much for doing this vid. I know it's something you probably didn't want to video. But I thank you for this. I just ordered my castle BEC from my local hobby shop.
Man your goin deep on this puppy Dig it! 1970 442 their strong. We were T boned in one, I was on the pass .side where I was sitting 40yrs ago. They don't make em like they use to. Any who i have a 69 Chevelle with a 427 good stuff!!! Cant wait to see the next Vid. Thank You for your inspirational info and content....
Hey Earl! I that was a Olds you were working on with the Red inner fender wells!😲 I have a couple of those myself! Glad your showing the promoto MX change over!😉📹💯✔️👋👋👋👋
Interesting that the stock ESC fan is oriented to suck hot air from the motor...makes me wonder if this bike really needs a fan cooled ESC at all. A bike puts far less strain on the ESC than a conventional 4 wheeled RC. Not needing an ESC with a fan would open up more options.
The gearing doesn’t look like it needs a fan but the weight of it and small esc might but will find out I think the bigger max10 shouldn’t need a fan on 3s
Whew!Losi did a great job fitting all that stuff in there!! It's looking like the stock size with next to no extra wire is going to be your best option. It would be nice if you could find another esc that had the 5mm bullet cups like the stock one had.
A 4s HW is never a waste lol .. curious what you'd think of doing a 'sort of' budget build . Convert ST rally Traxxas to brushless with that HW hmm . Also can't wait to see more with the Mojave off road speed runs . Thanks 👍
Wow, that looks like a lot of work. You seemed to have almost as many bolts as that full-size car you were working on. Maybe you can better fit a hobbywing wp ESC? They come in different amp ratings. And, they are smaller.
@@earlmoorhead5555 I actually bought the Hobbywing Max10 60A ESC. The older version. It fits perfectly in my other RC bike. I do not know how it compares to their new version, size wise?
Hey Earl! Is there enough meat on those side plate to grind or cut the openings bigger to use that esc you want to use as long you can bolt it all back together for strength still??? Good Luck on the mission bud!🤔😉👍📹💯✔️👋👋👋👋
Cap pack is for voltage drop on hard trigger pulls when a battery can’t support the big load it will discharge to allow no power loss till the battery recovers
There was two of them from a CBS show one has 80 k miles selling for 170k the other one has 8k miles selling for 260k one is a 2012 the other is a 2015 I had to replace the push button for the shifter both are for sale now 👌
I thought i had subscribed already. I'm wondering how the plastic rims are holding up? These are so good for our hobby RC in general. These are great, not everybody wants a crawler. My next rc will be a desert buggy, or another crawler i dont need.
Rims do ok as long as you don’t crash hard front rim bend if landing nose first into another jump or anytime the front end bend the forks backwards hard but even bent it seems to work good 👍

Thank you I really appreciate the support 🙏
I love how you get right into RC’s and customize them that’s what the hobby is all about great work Earl can’t wait to see it done 💪🏽🤙🏽💯
I’m all for upgrades in power and performance, but this is one model that is powered perfectly straight out of the box for its size/weight & scale.
Some are happy at 2S but even Losi offers upgrades for speed

I thought about taking the flywheel and tuning it down on the Harding lathe making the mass smaller
That circle is the same as an XLR RFI eliminator. Pretty much an AC power line filter
That thing is packed in there tight, looking good so far ❤
4 barrel carburetor 4 speed 2 dule exhaust pipe( 442) love it

@@earlmoorhead5555 absolutely, you’ll never learn if you don’t try
The castle sidewinder could be a great choice or the easy run 60-amp wherever ESC you choose,💯🔧👍
Yes sir that ferrite bead is for electric noise interference reduction. You're a brave man taking on that challenge.
Should be fun specially if it looks factory 👌😊

That's cool!

Forget trying to fit ESC in stock location. ESC backpack baby😳😜🤣😂
Lol 😂
Esc snow boots 😱
Wow those screws...... Are confusing... But nothing to you earl I'm sure. What a fascinating vid bro. 💯. Can't wait for PT 2.
A lot of patience goes into a build like this 👍👍👍hats off to you Earl🎩🎩🎩 and here waiting patiently for running video
Thanks
They really did a good job on those bikes
Yes
Thanks!
Appreciate your support
Thank you Earl we doing the ESC install 💯🔧👍🍻
Thanks for the video

Yes the small 2.5 mm or 3mm bullets
Wow! I think I'm going to wait for an upgrade kit to come out, that is a wiring nightmare atleast for me.
Simple on where they go just no room for all the wires 👀😱🤣🤣
Yep, that's the biggest challenge.
Hey Earl the New Castle Mamba micro x2 is 4s and has a very small footprint
Yes looking for one locally
SW4 CASTLE ESC WOULD HAVE BEEN GEAT AS WELL
A 4s HW is never a waste lol .. curious what you'd think of doing a 'sort of' budget build . Convert ST rally Traxxas to brushless with that HW hmm . Also can't wait to see more with the Mojave off road speed runs . Thanks 👍
i see why losi discontinued the lmt roller, they needed to chop up all the frame plates for the promoto 😂
Lol
Nice cars 😮
Hobbywing QUICRUN 10BL120 SD would probably be a good option, really cheap at this point too
Nice car ,Earl 🚗 😊
Alright thx Earl 👍
Wow, that looks like a lot of work. You seemed to have almost as many bolts as that full-size car you were working on. Maybe you can better fit a hobbywing wp ESC? They come in different amp ratings. And, they are smaller.
Maybe I will be going to a few hobby shops to see what I can get to handle that motor kv

@lexsteel12 most other bike had the gyro on the rear wheel where this center gyro takes up all the room not mush space now
Wow is that getting involved but that’s you ,and in this hobby it’s what else can make it better 1k later lol😅😅😅
😎💯💯💯
i couldnt wait to see one of these bikes torn down,👍
Man there’s sure a lot of screws for a motorcycle. I’d never be able to put it back together right 😂
Yes the plates make for a ton of hardware
Hey Earl! Is there enough meat on those side plate to grind or cut the openings bigger to use that esc you want to use as long you can bolt it all back together for strength still??? Good Luck on the mission bud!🤔😉👍📹💯✔️👋👋👋👋
I might relocate a bigger esc
Awesome bike , hopefully the esc housings will transfer easily
Yes that would be awesome looking factory would be best
Furitek might be an option... Does the cap pack and the donut for lack of better terms serve the same purpose?
Cap pack is for voltage drop on hard trigger pulls when a battery can’t support the big load it will discharge to allow no power loss till the battery recovers
Your a brave man taking that apart lol nice Ferrari 👌 what year?

Yes❤
what size are those bearings? Be interesting to see if a lighter wheel could be ran.
Boom 🎉
ONLY MY OPION 3S PLENTY OF POWER
Yes 2S was enough on the Bmx track but on road I feel 3S would be great to rip at 70+ mph

Water can get in that flywheel easy right?
Dust wasn’t in there I’m sure water might go in if submerged but splashing in puddles idk normally dusty inside water would get in easier to 🤷🏻♂️
Water and electricity don't mix. Some mud, yes. I dont know why people put expensive rc's in the water?
Would you want to sell one of them spectrum 100 amp ESC?
Idk if it’s worth shipping one as Jenny rc should have them cheap specially since the big sale on vendettas
Ok thanks man I'll check and see if I can find one. I'm trying to find one for my son's rc
You could have decased the esc maybe?
4s next earl?
Possibly goal is 100mph on road
and since you know more than losi's electrical engineers why didn't you design the bike for them 😂
They didn’t pay me enough 😱🤣
I could use that esc
I thought all u needed was a bec?
The BEC install said ready for any esc capable of 3-6s now ?
It doesn’t take long
I know this is an old vid and you might not see this comment but if you do, is that a 488? 😬
Use that esc on another project
Did yo see my email?
I don’t normally check any emails so I didn’t see anything but I’ll look for something
Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 for the support brother 💪
