  • I made another deal on wheels and now I have a set of steelies. These are off a tundra that I traded my alloys I got off a sequoia in a deal a few months back. Land cruiser, tundras, and sequoias all have the 5 lug 150 bolt pattern. So why steel wheels, they are heavy but they are strong. They are ugly but that is cool. They might bend but they won't crack. If you wheel choose steel.

I'm with you brother. Looking at a newer Hyundai Elantra tonight, and they're touting it's alloy wheels. I just don't like them. Like the steel - looks so much more refined and simple.

It has been a while since I had those wheels. I know they were signifcantly heavier but both sets had tires mounted so I couldn't weigh them and know true wheel differences. I bet you can find details on the exact weights on the 100 series forum on ih8mud.com

Steel wheels are absolutely fine. Alloy wheels are often lighter so there is some benefit there. Many people also like the looks of alloy. For offroad use steel wheels have some advantages if you are off roading hard. I hope that helps.

Do they ride smoother then alloy? Thanks!

With tires as large as they are I think the ride is far more dependent on the tires and air pressures
