Wonderful stuff Roy, some great memories there with all the loco hauled passenger services and Speedlink. I used to visit Peterborough a lot in the 80s & 90s, but didn't start videoing until 1986.
Thank you, its nice to know its appreciated after spending quite some time editing the old footage to make it look more acceptable. if only we had Digital cameras back in the 80's.
The first Freight looked like the afternoon Whitemoor - teeside! With wagons from Ciba-Geigy near Whittlesford mixed with Grain wagons picked up that morning from NewMarket! The second one looks like empty Mollasses tanks from the sugar industry in Kings Lynn.looks like 31 411 with the white stripe down the side, the next freight looks like from King`s Lynn with Campbells soup wagons ,grain loaded at Lynn and chemical wagons from Dow Chemicals Kings Lynn
The video has been edited in Power Director which uses CLPV to adjust the aspect ratio to 16.9 without causing much stretching effect, which I find usually works well and helps clean up the old footage, it also hides VHS tracking lines at the bottom of the picture.
I see you also suffer from the curse of the careless finger... How many of my pictures needed cropping to get rid of my careless digits? I lost count. The railways in Peterborough look so different now. Ain't progress a bitch.
Many a happy evening spent down memory lane watching your cracking videos Roy, thank you.
Peterborough in 1985 with out over head cables, classic loco hauled intercity trains, 31's 47's 37's. Good old blue and white coaches. Intercity 125's
Glad you enjoyed it William.
Subscribed, im a 70s child which might explain, great footage.
A great video with plenty of class 31 action. Thanks for posting.
Another great video, Roy. Many thanks! A thoroughly enjoyable 25 minutes spent rekindling happy memories.

Great video, great memories. Thanks for uploading.
Interesting that some of the East Anglia/Birminghams are conveying extra GUV/BGs, possibly around Christmas time with extra mail traffic?
Good coverage before electrification
Thanks for posting this video as has brought back some very happy memories. Could you correct the aspect ratio please.

Is there any chance you could post a video of class 08 action? There was quite a lot in the Peterborugh area during the 1970s and 80s.
Arr speedlink and Campbells. Soup wagons those were the days, plus lots of coaches and plenty of. Locos. Ready to. Move em
Nice to see the 'Rat'.....not much footage on here showing them :(
