    Stalkers are usually a very weird mix of being insanely crafty when it comes to getting information and at the same time being absurdly naive and stupid when it comes to realizing what they're doing.

      The majority are suffering from severe delusions, where they're convinced that the object of their desire wants them in return and that outside forces are getting in their way. Thus that mixture.

      Was once in the psych ward with a woman who was planning a wedding with a man who wanted nothing to do with her. Similarly, I've gotten calls from the hospital's phone number from a man who I'd blocked on everything I can. These people are not mentally well, but by no means are they stupid.

      It's also important to remember that it's depressingly much easier to stalk someone with modern technology and data brokerages. Like it or not a person can do quite a lot to track someone if they have the money.

      @@Utriedit215 I said temporarily. What if the stalker does somehow get into the room their victim they're stalking was staying in originally but a new guest was checked into that room when the victim was switched? That would call for a big lawsuit if anything happened to the new guests, especially if the new guest was female (single or with another person, doesn't matter, since the crazy stalker will just think that's her ex's new gf and attacks her when she's completely innocent and then finds out what happened, will definitely press charges against the crazy ex and sue the hotel for not having the room vacant for reasons like this).

    • @Hationor
      @Hationor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@audreym3908Actually you would get in trouble for claiming a room is vacant when it's not. In situations like this you do what Jess did in the video. Deactivate all cards to that room and move the guest to another

    • @chrishubbard64
      @chrishubbard64 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@audreym3908 Agreed on all points. First step after confirming a stalker would be to demagnetize the keys which was done, then move the poor bugger to another room. Preferably as far from his original as possible. And yes, leave it empty for a night or two just in case. Its possible they sell out every night and that might be an issue but considering the alternative is to risky crazy stalker girl shivving an innocent woman or attacking someone she thinks is her ex, id say the single vacant room for a bit is the better choice both morally and financially as a lawsuit is more expensive than an empty room. .

      Yeah, no, at that point, I'm getting a manager to change my room. That's not being a bit extra. There's a REASON that video with Natalia was made, why this one was made. Because they wouldn't think to act a certain way themselves, many folks don't think about the "bad" reasons that might be motivating the person in front of them.
      I've trained many FDAs and until I started laying out all the reasons why you don't want to give out a guest's room number or other info (and illustrated them with some true stories) they had a hard time getting why the rules are in place.
      I'd rather be yelled at by someone for not transferring a call when they don't know the room number than EVER confirming by accident that a specific person was staying at the hotel...
      [But I've had to deal with crazy stalkers at 2am when I was the ONLY employee at the hotel (and an unarmed female one at that)-- so I know that safety comes first!

    Of the 8 1/2 years I managed a hotel, we never had a problem with a stalker, but I saw one go horribly sideways at a Six Flags park. During the off season I picked up some security shifts because actually I worked in their fire department. With that said, late on a Sunday evening (off season) this male employee came from within the park and ran, at high speed, through the security office. Seconds later, he ran through again. As he did, the dispatcher pointed and yelled "OUTSIDE!!" Two of us ran to the building's front porch to see this demented woman try to enter the front porch with the jagged remains of a glass coke bottle. We tried to stop her, but she slipped and actually fell on the broken bottle, which entered her body through the solar plexus area. The woman was crying and reeked of alcohol. The other officer ran inside and got the first aid kit. The dispatcher saw it all happen and called 911. I could only apply direct pressure to the open wound. Police got there first and quickly gave both of us gloves. We washed our hands with rubbing alcohol, then put on the gloves. The ambulance took about ten minutes to get there. They just decided to do a "scoop and go" with police escort. It turned out that the woman had broken the bottle bashing in her ex-boyfriend's car windshield.

    • @OptimumTaurus
      @OptimumTaurus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Actually non-fiction. Ms Vanel's skits are based on real-life situations she and other hotel workers have encountered, with obviously the names of the people and hotels involved changed, which is fairly common practice. A work of art is only considered fiction if it's made-up whole cloth. This would be non-fiction because it's based on real events.

    I stay in hotels a lot working for the airlines, and I’ve learnt so much from your videos, so thanks!
    I recently had an experience where one random night a man opened the door of my room unannounced! I politely greeted him before he just shut the door and fled, I wasn’t going to have it, so rang reception straight away to see if they could intercept him there.
    They did, and I went down there to have some firm words on this, however, the truth then came out! It turns out that he was also staying in the same hotel, had locked himself out, went to get a new swipe card key for his room, but accidentally quoted my room number (Instead of his) and the reception staff member lapsed on protocol and didn’t check his details when they reissued the key 🙄
    So apologies from everyone all round and a $100 meal and bar voucher later 😂

      I'm thankful that my general, mild paranoia has helped me *avoid* a couple likely stalkers.
      One was a guy who got *way* too insistent on being friends after helping me move stuff from my car to my new apartment. A friend had recommended his services, so he had my number from me calling him. He got weird, so I blocked his number. I'm also not friends with the person who recommended him, anymore, but for different reasons.
      The other was just a random dude who started hanging out at one of the fishing docks I used. He started following me as soon as I left the dock, so I took a... creative route home. Didn't use that dock for quite a while after that, too.

    I rarely have the opportunity to go to a hotel. At 71 I do very little traveling. But I have a question for you. On the rare occasion I do, why are handicap accessible rooms at a higher rate? I understand they have different amenities but it still seems like discrimination to me and my senior citizen friends.

    • @Kestral287
      @Kestral287 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Usually it's that they're of a room type that's not the cheapest option. I.E., if my cheapest rooms are queens, but my handicap is a king, then I'm going to charge the same as my other kings for it. Whether or not that's right is a whole discussion of course, but that's the justification.
      Also, sad as this is - when they are the cheapest room, they tend to get picked up quickly by people who don't need them. Especially since there's usually fewer of them in the hotel that presents its own kind of problem, where someone who actually needs the room can't get it because someone else snapped it up to save ten bucks.

    • @lins918
      @lins918 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@Kestral287 Okay that makes sense. We wondered because the one place we go the only differences we see are the accessible shower and the rooms are in back the farthest away from the office. In fact the ofc gal told us the rooms are 17% higher. So we did wonder when we've had people in both types of rooms during the same stay and the only differences were the shower and location. Decor, bed size, everything else the same. I guess we thought the rate should be the same but yeah I see where the availability would suffer. Thanks.

      In the US, by law, hotels above a certain size must have one ADA room for each room type they offer (and I think they must have more ADA rooms per type, for a larger hotel -- but I'm not 100% certain).
      Those ADA rooms have to be offered at the same price as the non-ADA rooms of the same type.
      However, there is no rule about who is allowed to BOOK an ADA room, which means that it's very possible than someone able-bodied booked an ADA room because it was the last one available of the room type they wanted, or the ADA room was the cheapest remaining type of room & all the others were of a different & higher-priced type.

    The level of excitement you showed when the stalker showed back up is amazing acting. It was actually disturbing.

    oh the timing on this is perfect. I work at a hotel (that looks VERY similar to the background photos of the front desk... is that a candlewood suites?) and just the other night I had to call the cops with my coworker and have someone trespassed from the property. He was a guest but he was ALSO asking for another guest's room number and personal information after harassing the girls I work with for two days straight

    To those new to the profession and similar ones, I get it, all these extra steps are a hassle and often causes upset customers who ARENT stalkers, but this skit is the reason why all those confirmation steps and careful information exchanges are done that way. Because 99 times out of 100 its useless, but that one time its not could save a life.

    Stalkers can be deadly, so it is necessary to take proper precautions. It can be some addled fan of an actor or singer, or a estranged spouse, boy/girl friend. There is also that someone is trying to get into the room to rob/steal valuable property, business documents, a computer.

    So fun story
    Long story short my Uncle travels for work and happened to get assigned a hotel where we live, so he gave me his keycard and let me use the room for a few nights as it's really nice, he just told me to lay low. One night, the fire alarm went off at 3am and I panicked and ran outside without the keycard. I told the front desk this and they made me a new one no questions asked, and as I'm heading up to my room I'm thinking "yknow he probably shouldn't have done that lol... and I probably should've just gone home and called him about it in the morning lol"

    Yup, stalkers are crazy and I don’t understand why some people don’t understand: I don’t want to see you, please don’t contact me again directly or indirectly as in trying to ask about me from people that know me.” …it’s not ok and people need to get a life.

    Question. Would someone who has been banned from a hotel be able to make an actual, legitimate registration for the hotel they've been banned from?

    • @The_Dudester
      @The_Dudester 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I would say no. In Texas, once you have been banned from a property, that's it. Trespass again and you will go to jail. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.

    I know a girl who did this and it was her ex husband and they did give her a roommate and she hid behind a curtain until you showed up. He did tell the front desk, but somehow somebody didn't get the memo or did their job properly. Which is probably most likely

    There's NOTHING like hotel drama! I went from working in hotels as an assistant manager/night auditor to EMT lvl 2 and still think on the drama of hotels. Can confirm that getting a chance to be in a way "involved" in the drama was always a highlight of the day. From cheating spouses getting caught, people trying to hide their "mistress" in the lobby bathroom, producing porn in the room, and pool drama it was always something to make a shift go by faster.
