This is a good assessment and its been true for so long.
The rot set-in in the 80's with the over investment in the City of London and the running down of manufacturing and out-sourcing this to China.
Rather than retraining the British workers for this new world and the new jobs nothing was done. This led to a shortage of the skilled worker London required. The skilled workers moved to London or were imported from abroad, leaving the post industrial towns behind. These post industrial towns suffered from low skilled low wage jobs, which the once skilled industrial workers (engineering or mining) were ill suited to fill. These jobs would be filled with immigration.
No politician explained to the British population or understood this demographic bomb and they only cultivated populist image. It was believed that a young energetic image was more important than anything else to the British populations (Tony Blair, David Cameron).
The over reaction to the 2007-2009 banking crisis led to the disenchantment with politicians (British and Europeans) and simplistic right wing snake oil politicians offered solutions, which ultimately led to Brexit and Boris Johnston. God help us.
Where Britain once trod, America is destined to follow.

it would be good for the counties/rural townships of Britain to start making trade deals for themselves, to start soliciting the best prices for good produces locally from external sources; heaven knows there's a dearth of high quality wool products (clothing in particular) on the market today, and I bet customers would love to have excellent quality dairy and vegetable products again too

With less taxes who's going to pay for roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, rubbish collections, defence, airports, ports, street lights, ambulances, fire fighters, fire stations, police, to name just the blindingly obvious.
The problem with tax isn't that we have to pay it. It's that the rich don't and that we then subsidize the rich with the taxes they don't make a fair contribution too.
When the UK had good roads, enough schools, free university education, free dentists, free glasses, enough hospitals, doctors, nurses, police, fire fighters, teachers, the general public actually paid less tax and the rich actually paid their fair share.
Yet we are working harder than ever for a lot more hours a week but with less money to spend. The reality is that no matter how much or how little tax we pay nothing will change until we tax the rich properly and stop letting them take more value from our labour than we receive

Governments are very inefficient, thats the problem. All this tax money isn’t used effectively.
Back in the day, if you were weak, another country would invade. Now we don’t have wars anymore in the EU.
Wars keep governments efficient: only the truly needed departements will survive.
After a war a country is at its best. The UK, US, Germany and Japan were all booming after the wars. Victor or victim is irrelevant here.

5 reasons why the UK is failing.
    1) Free healthcare (it doesn’t work because healthcare is funded by a combination of taxes and government borrowing)
    2) unemployment salary, in the UK you get a “salary” for being unemployed and your rent and bills are paid for. This is called universal credit.
    3) the government prints money like there’s no consequences.
    4) Mass immigration, there are positive aspects of immigration, but the uk is flooded with refugees and migrants who are not net positive to the economy.
In fact if you’re a skilled immigrant it’s very expensive to enter and work in the UK.
    5) Probably the most important, high taxes, the UK is obsessed with taxing the most productive in society at the expense of the least productive
    .

Especially when China adds 100 coal plants doing more harm by some standards,, then the rest of the world has cleaned. Just before French revolution the 10% richer owned 90% of wealth, the 1% owned 60% wealth
Today in the US the top 10% richer own 2/3 nation's wealth. the top 1% owns 60% wealth. UK is following the same economic recipe
But yeah the problem is always the most powerless people in society...

What could cause the cost of housing to go up?
Well, inflation itself, for one thing, since it means that land, materials, and labor ALL get more expensive.
Then, of course, there's the law of supply and demand.
Unchecked immigration means that the demand increased... while the supply did not keep up with it... probably *could* not keep up with it.

It doesn't surprise me at all that England could be a second & working its way to third world country. Good example is Cabo San lucas. Sure its first world. But it's surrounded by second and third world issues.
A good portion of the Midwest and south in America is a great example of a second world country. Even parts of the northwest when you get out into the sticks.
And as long as the second world situation is stable. You can actually get cheap property that way. But it's when law and order pretty much falls apart. At that point you start realizing you're making your way to a third world country.
And England has a lot of issues that we can't talk about on this platform..

I'm guessing you have figures backing your point up but for the everyday person it was less about what the Government gains on a spreadsheet and more about removing the control from some unelected bureaucrats in another country hellbent on meddling in every aspect of the peoples lives.

People were misled. They voted for Brexit because they thought it will stop migration and regulation. And yes, it stopped migration from EU countries ( the only one that was tax positive for the UK) and replaced it with 3rd world . And it didn't stop more regulation as UK governments love pen pushing as much as EU does

Steady on son. Being a English man, im gonna save this video and watch it later. Let me help you out (if your video fails to mention it/). Sky high house prices cuased by 25!years of the government increasint the population by 10million while no extra house were built. 1 in 6 people were not here , 25 years ago and mass immigration has caused untold damage. Many dont see the point in workig hard since you can no longer buy a house. People have had less children since couples often both have tk work to survive, , and all the time the elite have allowed ever increasing numbers of foreign labourr into the market (who generally dont pester for pay rises).

Disappointed. Pointedly pointing out that wages have stagnated, inflation is high, taxes are high, but zero recognition of stock market gains, CEO pay, price gouging, real estate values, landlords, record profits, tax avoidance, and rich people getting way, way richer. Nor any context considering covid, or BREXIT...Along with the subtext that 'third world' means 'non native' or worse, 'non white'. I'm a fan, but this analysis leaves me disappointed.
