When I was 10years old, we had an accident on the Expressway on our way to Cape May. We bent the axil on the trailer and had to find a camp ground quick and ended up at "Lake and Shore' camp ground. The year was 1967. For the next 15 years we returned brining more friends, relatives and my dog Duke until the owners sold out to a resort. This place has so many summer memories and lost friends of long ago.
@@HomeMeetsRoad The original owners used to drive around in the evening in a golf cart and visit people. Any complaint they fixed. Anything you needed they got you. Wood could be delivered to your site. The sites were twice the size they are now and maybe even bigger back then. We'd rent the "Front Loop" by the lake for our friends and relatives to all camp in. I wonder if anyone you talked to were friends of mine from years ago? Indeed it was Magical.
Looking to go to this Campground October 22nd of this year very helpful. I have been to sea pirate very good camping ground went there for the chilifest they support the fire department the only bad thing is they are overpriced for what they offer. Very much love and dig your camper
@@HomeMeetsRoad One of the owners last name was Tate. Big guy, the new kids were afraid of him, because of the stories the kids that stayed for the season told us.
I been going to Lake & Shore when it was out Outdoor World I Lived at Multiple Outdoor World Campgrounds Traveling All Summer Long With My Grandparents Years and Years I'm Actually Here Now and How Different It Is...This Campground Is More Like A Trailer Park Now...It's Basically "Cabins" That Take Up The Bulk Of The Campground... The Lake Swimming Area Is Roped Off Way Smaller Than It Use To Be....They No Longer Have The Dock By The Swimming Area You Use To Be Able To Swim Out To The Dock and Jump Off BIG 👎For Me....Outdoor World Lake & Shore Had The Biggest Coolest Arcade, Now Small Arcade And Half The Games Have Out Of Order Signs On It BIG 👎For Me....The Pool Isn't That Bad Now But Way Nicer When It Was Outdoor World....They Basically Cut Most Of The Trees Down And I've Seen 2 Toads The Whole Time I've Been Here This Trip And This Campground Was Filled With Toads...(JUST SAYING)...They Did Away With The Pedal Boats (DUMB MOVE, THE PEDLE BOATS IN MY EYES WAS FUN FAMILY BONDING TIME EXSPECIALLY FOR THE YOUNGER KIDS).....For Stand Up Paddle Boards SUPER BIG 👎 You Can't Bring Your Kid/Kids On The Paddle Boards 😡......The Did Away With The Conoes For Kayaks 🤷...The Store Has Barley Anything In It.. But They Do Have The Water Park (ONCE THEY PUT THE WATER PARK IN THAT'S WHEN EVERYTHING WENT DOWN HILL, DON'T GET ME WRONG IT'S FUN FOR THE KIDS).....I Can Go On And On Nit-picking Everything But The Reality Is It's Not Really Camping, When You Think Of Real Camping And Water Park Sounds Like Real Camping To You Then You Aren't A True Camper And Scared To Get Your Shoes Dirty Etc. So If You Don't Want To Miss Your TV Shows And Feel Like Baking A Cake In Your Classy "Cabin" This Would Be A Perfect Place For You 😉......(YOU CAN GOOGLE THE New "RV RESORT")......That All Being Said It's Just Not The Same For Me But It Brings Back Memories With My Grandparents RIP🙏....Like I Said I Basically Lived At Outdoor World Growing up, All Summer + Long It's Not The Same But Like Everything Else It's Gone Through Changes.......If You Like The Luxury Of The Cabins You'll Enjoy Your Stay....The Choice Is Yours So Atleast Give It A Try And If It's Your Cup Of Tea I Hope You Can Make Memories With Your Family Because Memories Is All You Have Left At Some Point In Life So Keep Those Memories Going....PS. WILL I STILL BE COMING BACK ABSOLUTELY 💯 FOR THE MEMORIES
A lot of people I talk to, who have gone to these campgrounds for years, feel the same way. Thousand Trails tries but there is just not enough money to keep these parks up. I think a lot has to do with insurance. Several parks have stopped some of the boating, etc. it’s sad.
I started going to Lake and Shore way, way back in the 60s. It was very free spirit back then. Those were the days you did what you wanted at your own risk. It has changed and the people I knew have all moved on. What was one site in my day is now two sites today. There were no fences either and we went everywhere for miles in jeeps and dirt bikes. We would sometimes swim across the lake as a challenge and at night go swimming on the other side, well it was dark, so no one noticed. They had bonfires on the beach of the lake almost every night, where the Dunes used to be. People (Hippies) would bring their guitars and sing. Every year the same people came back and then some. I will never forget how much fun I had there as a kid.
Yep that’s the one
👍

You are not the first to tell me this place used to be magical. Before it became a Thousand Trails.

Looked nice! Thanks for review!
We have a Thousand Trails and found this review to be very helpful! Thanks for sharing! ~ Shion and Matthew
Awesome! Glad you liked it! We have three Thousand Trail reviews in Maine coming out next week!
I am working on booking this area. What made you choose this over Sea Pines? Or did you do both?
We did not go to Sea Pines. Sea Pines was not open when we came through NJ.

Oh yes, the old timers call this place, TATOR LAKE.
Reference to drunken lake?
