I just came here to talk about Colt, sending my condolences to his family. I've had similar folks in my family suffer from the evils of alcohol but we were fortunate enough to save them. It's such a shame that Brennan couldn't be saved, not for my own interests, but his families...
Colt Brennan was one of my favorite college players of all-time, I would never forget. Dude should've been the starter for the Redskins out of the draft.
Not necessarily. Being a great college player doesn't mean you have what it takes to be great in the NFL. I remember watching him in both the NFL and NCAA. He never found his feet in the NFL, he was jumpy and hesitant and struggled to throw with anticipation and find windows in coverage. He tried to side arm too many balls and had a lot batted down easily as a result. People need to remember, there is a HUGE difference between thriving in a spread college typically one read system playing against mid level schools, and stepping into an NFL offense against the best defenses in the world. A lot of these college gimmick-ish systems produce some major stat padders against weaker competition whose numbers don't necessarily indicate their next level ability. The things they do and rely on in those systems are not at all sustainable in the pro game. He deserved his chance for sure, which he got. But there's no way in hell you can say he deserved to just be handed the starting job.
i stil think about col brennan all the time. I randomly googled him last night actually. He had some of the most insane highlights ive seen and the best accuracy I've seen outside of the NFL.
I never understood how Brennan never got a chance. He lit it up in preseason on a team with nothing but scrub qb's. He was crazy accurate and had a cannon arm. To this day I get disappointed when I think of what he could have done in the NFL.
Yea he definitely deserve to be the number one pick more than JaMarcus Russell I mean think about it JaMarcus Russell only through 28 touchdowns against eight interceptions with the LSU receiving Corps come on Colt Brennan would have thrown like 70 or 80 touchdowns
Colt Brennan never got a fair shot in Washington. They only played him in the preseason, where he killed it. Came regular season he never got on the field. Call it politics or favoritism or whatever the reason, Colt got jipped.
Hamoanese same league let vick play qb. Same for big Ben after rape allegations. If you're good you will get a shot. There's never been a time every team had a franchise qb that's why people keep searching for one.
That WVU loss to Pitt was just another one for No. 2 teams that year. It was like a curse to be ranked second that year. There were so many stumbles by No. 2 teams that a 2-loss LSU team that had just been beaten by Arkansas two weeks earlier was put in the title game against Ohio State.
The thing about Reggie Bush was that he was really fast and deadly on the edges. But in the NFL you have to run north and south, not side to side. NFL defenses are too fast to let you get the edge consistently. He couldn't run between the tackles. So he ended up mainly being a pass catching back where they could get him in space more. In college you've got spread offenses, lots of space to do that kinda stuff. And the other team's best defender likely wasn't even good enough to make the practice squad in the NFL.
@@aznnp77 yeah he was mediocre as fuck in NFL. Wasnt horrible but defo the worst out of the big name rb’s at the Saints since the turn of the millennium
My college roommates both played for Hawaii during that run, fun times! I miss those guys.. Colt was amazing and it was a sham he never got a chance in the NFL..
Worth noting that Burrow did play one more game than Colt Brennan. While 60 TDs is EXTREMELY impressive, Burrow only managed to pass the record by throwing 5 TDs in the Championship game against Clemson. He also threw 7 TDs in the semifinals before that. Not downplaying his accomplishment, because it is a record that likely won't be touched for a long time, but it took 15 games to break a record that Colt Brennan set in 13 (he did not manage to throw a TD pass against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl). Edit, for reference, Burrow was 10 TDs behind Brennan after the SEC Championship (Game 13).
Here's a story from that Hawaii vs Georgia Sugar Bowl... Colt Brennan had skipped curfew and was partying out all night in New Orleans the day before.. cause it's New Orleans In the 2nd quarter since they were getting beat, June Jones decided to call plays with no blockers just as payback for staying out late the night before. My dad knows June Jones, he's a pretty nice guy.
Sup KTO! I recently played as Colt Brennan in NCAA 07, your video motivated me every game of the way. Here are my stats for his junior season. Passing: 238-381 62% 52 TDs 3 INTs 4285 yards 11 W 2 L MPC Computers Bowl Champions
It's not just Colt Brennan at Hawaii who ended up like this. Hawaii has spent the last couple decades having some gunslinging QBs who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn half the time (but who racked up huge numbers playing against glorified high school WAC/Mountain West players who were still confused from flying 100,000 miles to paradise for a football game.) Timmy Chang was the other top example. Everyone talked about how amazing he supposedly was while at Hawaii, but he was never that accurate and disappeared after college
Dude I REALLY like these videos, this should be an ongoing series you do. I think it would be a great idea instead of it just being videos you make, keep it going
@Chistopher Palmer did you go and comment to everyone who thought he should have had a better shot and demand an explanation why? Jeff Demps from Florida. 08-11. He didn't have the most impressive career numbers wise, but he was pretty incredible to watch at times because of how fast he was.
Jose #12 they wouldn't do that cause the colts knew he was old and wanted a young guy, and a year later Andrew luck was gonna be in the draft (who was arguably one of the best QB prospect of all time) they had no reason to keep manning so I'd be stupid for the colts to pass up on luck
Jose #12 Andrew luck would be even better. Being able to sit behind one of the smartest QBs ever for a few seasons. Yea Peyton wouldn't have another ring

No one talking about Dennis Dixon? The dude was the front runner for the Heisman the year Tebow won his first and if not for the ACL against Arizona he would have won it and likely the BCS
No doubt, Dixon could've been the greatest Oregon QB of all time if he had never gotten injured. As a fan I personally think that was the greatest Duck team of all time.
ProDucktions I agree they had a great defense and Ed Dixon, Jonathan Stewart, I believe Jarius Byrd was on those teams Patrick Chung. It was also when the Beaversvs. Ducks were trading BCS Champion ending upsets how many times did they end up losing right when they were favored to make the Championship game
ProDucktions dude for real? Huskies fan here and I remember Dixon raping UW obviously each year. But I swear Marcus Mariota was the most unstoppable QB the PAC 12 has ever seen. He destroyed the pac 12!
Crazy Brennan never played a down in NFL Regular Season...played great pre-season and led Hawaii to be seasons in their history, 58 TD... should've gave him a shot
It's kind of depressing to think that colt Brennan didn't even get drafted till the 6th round with all of his numbers in Hawaii, while JaMarcus Russell was the first pick overall in the 2007 draft wall throwing for only 28 touchdowns and 3000 something yards with a stud recieving core in LSU. I bet Colt wouldv'e thrown 70 or 80 touchdowns with LSU sure Hawaii had the run-and-shoot offense but nothing compares to LSU's wide receiving Corps

Man this video gives me the feels for that 2007 season. So many stories left with what ifs. The amount of great teams that year from all over the damn country was insane
Captain Spartan 04 not really the dude has the most wins as a about with 46. He is top of the leader board in win percentage as well. and people still talk about him even today.
No people remember, it just doesn't matter in the NFL. College stats don't mean anything once you graduate. How many college records did Tom Brady set? He could barely even fend off Drew Henson to be a full time starter. Look at how many Heisman winners have done absolutely nothing in the NFL. So no, people don't forget what Kellen did on the blue turf. It just doesn't matter in terms of what he can do now.
Tell the story about when #3 Oklahoma state lost to the worst team in the big 12 because there was a plane crash that day and they didn't get to play in the national championship
I remember all the exaggerated hype of Crabtree in college. They said he was 6'4" and had 4.2 speed. Well 6'2" and just under 4.6 speed is pretty close I guess.
Colt Brennan is the ultimate "what if" quarterback. Tremendous accuracy, poise, and had the "it" factor teams covet. Sadly, he was drafted late by a bum HC Jim Zorn and never given the opportunity to showcase his skills. He injured far too many times, then got into a car accident. Scouts ridiculed Brennan over his throwing motion, but as you can see today, many QB's have similar awkward throwing motions. I hate acknowledging this fact, but often times, the very best players in football weren't lucky enough to have made it to the NFL due to a severity of reasons.
I can see im not the only one who came here right after hearing about his passing. Rip Colt 🙏

i'm born and raised in hawaii and 2007 was a great year. it was nice to finally watch our team actually do good. colt was amazing to watch.
Do one if rg3 never got hurt
Man this video gives me the feels for that 2007 season. So many stories left with what ifs. The amount of great teams that year from all over the damn country was insane
Kellen Moore isn't forgotten, his career isn't dead either. He's dak Prescotts back up and he's still in the NFL
Devon Long people forget what he did at Boise
Captain Spartan 04 not really the dude has the most wins as a about with 46. He is top of the leader board in win percentage as well. and people still talk about him even today.
No people remember, it just doesn't matter in the NFL. College stats don't mean anything once you graduate.
How many college records did Tom Brady set? He could barely even fend off Drew Henson to be a full time starter.
Look at how many Heisman winners have done absolutely nothing in the NFL.
So no, people don't forget what Kellen did on the blue turf. It just doesn't matter in terms of what he can do now.
Matt Kirby you mean drew bledsoe
Steve Miller, no he means Drew Henson. he's talking about the time at Michigan. They split time as the starting QB in 1998 and 1999
this video was how i found out about colt’s legendary college football career. rest up legend ❤️
GOD BLESS RIP COLT
To this day, I still think Colt Brennan could have been an NFL starter.
Tell the story about when #3 Oklahoma state lost to the worst team in the big 12 because there was a plane crash that day and they didn't get to play in the national championship
Just found out Colt Brennan is dead. RIP man. We lost an amazing football player
Can you do a full story on Marcus Dupree?
Awesome videos and great research/knowledge like always 👌🏻keep up the great work
Crabtree was a red raider now he's a raider
Steelers Fan120 that's fucking nuts man
Ah, ah, ah. He was a Red Raider, wore the Red N' Gold, then signed with the Raiders.
Deandre Washington was a Red Raider and then became an Oakland Raider
I remember all the exaggerated hype of Crabtree in college. They said he was 6'4" and had 4.2 speed. Well 6'2" and just under 4.6 speed is pretty close I guess.
soon as i saw colt brennan i clicked, i still got his college jersey
YOOO I WAS GONNA SAY GRAHAM HARRELL. I REMEMBER HIM, PLUS HE WON THE SUPER BOWL WITH MY PACKERS
I was at that game vs Boise St. great memories. Thanks for doing Colt Brennen. Legend in Hawaii
When KTO uploads a vid and it's 14 minutes 😍👅
4:44 man look at UH filling upper deck seats at Aloha. What an era that was
You should do a video on the time the browns fans threw bottles at the refs
wow R.I.P Colt Brennan who sadly passed today
that Texas tech team was great
RIP Colt Brennan. That famous season he had was like Peyton Manning. Straight up
You need more subs
Colt Brennan is the ultimate "what if" quarterback. Tremendous accuracy, poise, and had the "it" factor teams covet. Sadly, he was drafted late by a bum HC Jim Zorn and never given the opportunity to showcase his skills. He injured far too many times, then got into a car accident. Scouts ridiculed Brennan over his throwing motion, but as you can see today, many QB's have similar awkward throwing motions.
I hate acknowledging this fact, but often times, the very best players in football weren't lucky enough to have made it to the NFL due to a severity of reasons.
Colt Brennan was the man. Didn't they have a just as good QB before him though? Timmy Chang or something?>
Jack M I see you everywhere lol #hailwv
My man ;)
Jack M yeah until he faced my Georgia Bulldogs
Timmy Chang had the most passing yards in a career in Cfb history until Case Keenum passed him
Jack M yeah they had Timmy Chang, set a bunch of records
RIP Colt Brennan, you were that dude when playing at Hawaii.
