Shillong is undoubtedly the best place in India.......natural beauty in bounty and the people are friendly too.Was posted there for 3 years and still missing the place. Beautiful indeed. God bless the people and the place.

I was in Shillong since 1960 till 2004 and do you believe ,I had studied and started my self employed carrier and done my best ,made two of my sons doctor & daughter a Teacher. I love SHILLONG it the best place in earth,definitely visit the place if you have not visited till today.

Please do not be misinformed, All Jadoh is not made with pig's blood. Jadoh literally means Meat-rice. It can be made from any kind of meat, but usually pork or chicken. You can recognise the Jadoh, if it is made from blood or not simply by looking at the colour. The other Jadohs has a yellow colour while the Blood Jadoh is yellowish Brown or just brown in colour.
A vegetarian version called Jastem is made with vegetables like mushrooms, they are light yellow in colour

This is the wonderful place on earth called Shillong. Read a vaster account of the town and places all around in K.L.Khanna's novel : SUNSHINE ABOVE THE SHILLONG PEAK to get a story of love nestled in Shillong of the seventies. A quote here for you from the first chapter: -
"" All-wood houses on raised platforms with colourful slanting roofs; delicate lasses with conical baskets on their back carrying anything that throbbed with life including small cherubic faces that popped in and out of the basket tops and who squinted and laughed; thin lines of wavy smoke lazily emerging from the chimneys over and about a panoramic countryside alliterating by the local pine darting out of the scented bushes of bay leaf. A cadence of freshness on the wet earth awakened by the sunlight.
Life on the terrain dehisced with a motif that he could see. He was falling in love fast with the town and its countryside as the truck rolled up and down. By the fourth mile, he passed through a wilder patch. He wanted to get off and run in the wilderness. Exhilarating eagerness poured over him, even with PRP on his side and his whistling tune. He was overwhelmed.
After about an hour, the truck reached a crowded place. He was deep in the town. Several boys and girls with satchels on their shoulders or books in their hands walked about in groups. Some adults too. He saw many school and college signboards on the electric poles and the roadsides. It is not Barapani, the actual name of the Dam is Umiam, there was a river by this name that flows in this area before it was dam. The lady own a coal mine in 'Sohra' (the actual name of the place before the British sets in) not Cherrapunjee.

yes there's a restaurant called the bistro and we have mithai shops like unique, Delhi mistan and palace that are also pure veg. There's also a newly opened sizzler restaurant called Jivas. You should visit the place
If you want local cuisine, then no, but there are vegetarian restaurant that offers Marwari, and Bengali, and North or South Indian vegetarian food. But it's very very rare to find a pure vegetarian restaurant in Meghalaya.

I think you mean ground. The past perfect tense of grind here is ground, not grinded. Minced is also correct in this context since it means using a machine to cut the meat into small pieces which is exactly what they do in preparing doh shain.

One thing I was noticed in Shillong there are non khasis behaviour is bad.. being a Assamese person we are use to bargaining in everything but the locals feed back are very bad in it..! I will definitely go to Shillong next but my previous experience in police bazar was not good...!
