Its funny when pvp only players try to bash people for playing against ai, but they are the ones that moaning about the ai being to OP lol
pvp players bash coop players mostly because of, when coop players show up on pvp servers, they often perform poorly. pain in the ass if you have a bunch of coop players in your team. they often have to learn the game and all the tactics new from the scratch, if they are willing to do that. if you are used to play against dumb ai, you learn bad habits, which hinder you and your team, when playing pvp. PvP Players complain because they wanna win, and every member had to contribute to succeed on that goal.
We had coop squads diying in mine fields all together while to close together. we had whole coop squads killed by artilery or mortar with single hits while they were holding hands, we had coop players telling the enemy where we are sneaking through , because they found it a good idea to conduct suppressive fire on 1km distance on an enemy which was not aware of us yet, we had coop players moaning about rpg42 HE vs Inf ("against swiss convention" :D), you have to tell them always the same things (spacing, use your ears, flank, spacing, spacing, spacing, use different routes, not always the same route, mark enemy positions, spacing, how to talk short and precise, spacing, turn off all blur effects, spacing, play faster, dont chatter your action plan in base for 5 minutes, spacing... etc)
Most coop players that showed off in our community are gone, just a few stayed. it is too hardcore for most of them. they are used to an easy game, easy win. but playing against humans challenges you in every gameplay aspect. humans punish your mistakes.
But i respect the ones which take the challenge and are willing to improve. and i will take time to train them and show them all the tricks i learned in thousands of hours of pvp.
I played 4-5 coop too in my arma career. But its not for me. I dont even finished any of the single player campaigns. PvP is the highest challenge, but highest reward if you master it.
You have to go through a world of pain, to end in the ranks of the real arma elite :D :P Are you willing to take the challenge?
@@certaindeath7776 Thats all not behaviour they have because they play coop, everything you described they do wrong gets you killed when you play against AI aswell, atleast when you play on the settings we play at. Whoever was playing with you was just bad at playing arma in general.

I start with my stats. As you can see mostly Infantry Kills. 2,96 KD. Mostly in Priority Zone, no lame ass camping.

@@certaindeath7776 Now, I just recently started playing Arma 3 at all, and even more recently tried out koth. I also have hardly played any shooters before hand. You might find players like me, taking the same routes, giving away their position, failing to properly take cover, missing lots of shots, crashing helicopters, having a k/d of 0.15, and generally playing badly, and think "it's those coop people again".
Well, actually, we're just noobs. We suck, no matter if we're fighting AI or players. The AI can, at low skill settings, have a harder time spotting us, but when they get close and see us, we are equally as fucked as if they were a human player.
Hate on noobs all you want, but don't blame coop.
I found your channel via Levelcap's, one of your co-op videos. After subbing to you and watching your Arma vids. I sold my PS4 and upgraded to PC just so I could play Arma 3. I've always loved the Battlefield series and am finding the transition from a control pad to mouse and keyboard quite a challenge. I'm slowly making my way through the single player missions on Arma before I come and play multiplayer. I've a lot to learn before I'll be any help to a squad. But at least I've got BF4 for running and gunning (and looking up for no reason whatsoever).

So, after watching a fair few of your vids, a friend and I finally picked up ARMA3 in the sale. Initially we were getting hilariously stomped, but gradually getting to grips with it. Last night, we had our first experience of Invade and Annex on Ahoy, it was amazing. The kind of gameplay we've been seeking for quite some time, thanks for all the videos, I doubt we'd have taken the plunge without them.

Everything said in this video is exactly why i abandoned consoles and slowly scraped together over $1500 for my build, specifically for arma. Ive waited over a decade to experience the type of gameplay described in this vid. Couldn't have said it better.

There are gamers and then there are tacticians.
I can attest to the AI being unreal at times. I worked my way through a city to get into a second story window overlooking a group of AI soldiers that had shutters almost completely closed. The opening couldn't have been more that two inches wide. They were completely unaware of my presence,... until I barely peeked through the opening. One shot to the forehead and I was dead before I even had them in my scope. Them seeing me was rather unrealistic but it does show just how hard it can be to get the drop on them, especially if you don't turn down the skill level a LOT. Definitely not fish in a barrel.
Lol, been on the receiving end of that a few times myself... All you can do is laugh after... It does keep you on your damn toes!
Playing ArmA 2 was such a bother in armory/scenario mode against the bots- aside from frantically trying to convince my AI comrades that we shouldn't all charge at a tank shooting at it uselessly there were plenty of times where a man 700 meters away could accurately fire at you within 5 seconds, while you were still trying to zero in your weapon. At least they made the AI much much better in ArmA 3, it's a big improvement.
OMGvert unreal? I shot 3 titan missles on a t100 Varsuk and it didnt go, afterwards i try to nade it w my launcher but it just got stuck in a ditch... my whole squad when stealth on it while i just stood there cursing why looking in it barrel straight. Yeah talk about unreal
Not sure I&A is the best way to get those experiences, but I definitely agree that teamwork is what this game is ultimately about. Lazing with a drone quad copter a bunch of armoured targets for a human player 20km away who then took them out with a laser guider artillery shell fired from a captured howizer was one of the most satisfying moments in any gaming I've played.
i agree, i love playing I&A. aldo sometimes some tker joins or a hacker but if you play a lot on the same server and start to know the admins then your gameplay will become a lot of fun.
I do agree with you. It is so rare to find a game that challenges you like Arma do and requires teamwork, I mean scouting out the area and coming up with a plan and finally executing that plan, I love that rush. Everything lately puts you in the shoes of a super soldier.

I like the 77th jsoc version of it. On EU 2 you have at least 5 obj in each AO and very unique side missions. You guys should try it

But...i kinda wish there was a PvP version that follows the same concept.

I 100% agree with this it's amazing watching tanks role up with infintry in the tree line or on the ridge and I love to fly jets in arma and even though it's not much just telling people to clear the left runway due to you landing for a rearm it's just feels real
I love playing this game mode as well and I completely agree with you. I think it's amazing and I love being a pilot and the aspect of the game mode just makes it the most enjoyable thing ever.

Thanks for the videos! I played ARMA3 this weekend when it was free and i was just not sure about it. I played the tutorials and some single-players and I felt really frustrated because I never played something like this before. Some friends joined me and we jumped right into the multiplayer. There i found some server I could barely understand anything on. I searched on youtube guides about ARMA and found your video about Invade And Annex tutorial. I had some great time on the server, and I even bought ARMA, but with no DLC.
Arma 3 doesnt exactly have the best tutorial, though Apex did implement a tutorial/training/how the game works. Best thing to do is join a server, eg Invade and Annex, join the teamspeak for that server and then talk to the guys there playing. Normally its just the pilots in teamspeak (which is what i always play as) but 99% will be more than happy to explain the things you dont understand :)
I couldn't have said it better! That's exactly what i am missing in most military/shooter/survival games! The Teamplay. I personaly prefer pve because, as you said, it creates a team spirit among players. And most games are missing that or never even gave you the opportunity to handle things the "Teamplayer" way. In most survival style gamed it's mostly shoot on sight or shoot first, ask later. Because the ai isn't the real threat. The player is.... I'm really sick of that! So it's nice to see that arma is providing real challenge and i'm also glad that there are people with the same opinion as mine :)
This video is old but everything he says still holds true in 2020. The AI on high settings is very good. They will flank and ambush you. The AI can also be VERY accurate depending on what optics they have on their rifle and what difficulty settings are used. I've been playing Invade & Annex servers 6 years.
just picked it up. started invasion coop yesterday. had not so much fun in years. very cool game
I love playing Invade & Anex, sure it sucks some times, but the servers i mostly play on are extremely well organised, admins are usually playing as HQ and organizing the major part of players ( squads, who takes what AO or side mission etc). Then your squad leader decides how to approach AO, what equipment do we mostly need and other small things, and they are also communicating with other SL`s and HQ to organize mass attacks, CAS.... It`s pretty fun to be honest.

Great video LT i actually also prefer playing arma just for the fact its realistic but great fun and challenging at the same time, challenging enough so that on your own doesnt matter if youre in a tank or not youll get wrecked so it really encourages teamplay.
Arma 3 has been next on my to-buy list for so long! I play Battlefield 4 with MG (Monkey Gamers) Clan and we try to play as a squad and it's very fun. But I really want to explore the massive sandbox that is Arma 3, being a transport heli pilot or logistical support for troops really appeals to me in particular.
You won't regret it The large scale maps alone make already a huge difference.

This video from 2015 could not be more valid with how the gaming industry has become. I&A IS an amazing game mode. I have only recently started playing it more. Wish i could find some good Tano servers!

I love Arma III because of the long range engagements that you don't get in most PvP shooters. Having 500+ meter shootouts with AI is some of the best fun I've had. A lot of times you can be under fire and it takes several minutes to find out where the shots are even coming from. It's just such a different game than most shooters, and while PvP in Arma III can be fun, the AI & teamwork experience that Luetin talked about is much more enjoyable.
KOTH is also a good game type :) most of the time I play missions with my friends using ares zeu ot scripted missions by us. its so freacking awesome!

I love to play Invade and Annex, best Arma gamemode IMO, but I play almost exclusively as a Pilot, whether it's a Heli, CAS or Atttack heli. Shame that there are never any free slots :(

My first time playing Invade & Annex was a blast. Every time since has been terrible. Can usually only find 1 or 2 servers that have people on them and everybody is usually just doing their own thing. The last 2-3 times I tried to play, there were no chopper pilots, so we had no air transport and everybody just stood around waiting.
Do you guys use any AI mods to enhance the experience a bit more? There are a few out there that you can add into the missions with a script. One that I've grown to enjoy when creating missions is VCOMAI. The AI is pretty snappy... they even deploy smoke, set charges on a building if you're trying to hide out and even heal injured AI... so you have to make sure you've killed them. Give it a try, if interested. Even better when run on a HC - Headless Client... Great video!

I bought Arma 3 some time ago to play Battle Royale, it was really fun. Would love to get back in to the game as I havent played in a long time...should i try Invade and Annex by going in to servers solo or find other people beforehand?
IAA is my favorite style, you just made it clearer to me what I like it over other types

I play both PVP on KOTH and coop and I love both for different reasons. I sometimes wish to see more communication and cooperation in pvp modes, specially koth. This is the whole point of ARMA to me, talk with other members of your team to i.d. targets and make plans of actions. This is something that is horribly missing in koth.

Bought arma 3 because of this vid, although I didn't really know what I was doing, I had an amazing time filled with epic moments the first time in invade & annex.
the first time i played, someone laid landmines all around the HQ, so when enemy troops came to attack we had random explosions from various directions as they hit the tripwires and were vaporized

I totally agree Luetin I have had the odd game where I've shot the a.I to pieces rejoined the server a hour later and the a.i nearly torn us a new one, always a different experience and the enemy are never in the same place excellent game best $27.99 I ever spent
What mods work best for Invade & Annex?
I used to always play CTI but unfortunately the playerbase of the 173rd is thinning rapidly and isnt as fun. I might try again at it soon tho. I gave KOTH a try and the playerbase ruined it for me. Currently enjoying playing actual of my usual squad callsign:SPEARHEAD over at NAKSQUAD I&A altis.
Luetin09. I am wondering what servers u prefer. Every time I play invade and annex it's not very fun. For example, I will wait a long time for a heli then once we get to the AO it's taken and I have to try to get the heli again. Is there any way that I can try to make this better?

He is using VTS Weapon resting and Blastcore for the effects and JSRS for sound.
Quick question concerning I&A: Is there a minimum time you'd recommend that people have available for a session, or is it possible to jump in for 30-45 minutes and both have a good time and be of use to others?
it's definitely possible to be in there for just 10 - 30 min and simply deploy/support troops. Drive a truck with fuel/ammo, take a cargo plane and paradrop an APC to the field, fly a chopper for low-level CAS.
You can get that communication and teamwork with PvP but you have to either play something like the TacticalBattlefield mod or join an actual group. AI can be good or it can be horrible but they will never be able to be as unpredictable and creative as a human player is, when playing proper PvP things get a lot more tense and tactical and you won't be able to sit on your ass as much, you have to be constantly aware of your surroundings because everything isn't as linear.

I fully agree with you. The guys that play Arma or DayZ for the gunplay aren't doing themselves any favours. There are way, way better games for that (e.g. the BF series). Arma is clunky, unoptimised and generally very cumbersome in almost all aspects. Not even to begin to talk about the steep learning curve for menus and how to do even the most basic stuff in the game. It's lack of intuitiveness is legendary.
However, and this is a big however, it has no equal for what it's doing. Bohemia gets a lot of heat for how they handle development, but the truth is that all the companies that try to emulate their products fail miserably. It's like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Buggy as an ant nest on acid, but it has something special and character. And that's why I keep going back to these games since not matter how much I rage quit ever once in a while, there is no other game that can deliver what Arma is doing. The grand scale of things and, of course, more mods than you can shake Trump's penis at.
Long time Arma player. Zues AI is one thing. It can be incredibly bad too. A good private server is the best experience, invade and annex is ok but join a recruiting server and get in a private server and your game turnt up to 11.
Ever considered to run an Arma 3 server where guys from Veritas would gather there? Or we already have it?
We had one a while ago, when there was a division for it in the clan, but support for it deflated unfortunately.
***** Oh... That's sad. Once I've joined one the I&A servers and I guess admins were not online so peopl on server was dicking around doing comepletely bullshit things Out helicopters and jets we're TKing us at base, one guy built a dick from quads... It's was fucked

It's sad when you take a look at the server list and it is populated by Exile and Altis Life... absolutely not what arma was for.. it's very hard to come by a decent milsim server without joining up to virtual regiments.

You can do simulation gameplay on PVP with teamwork. For me, is really a turn off how bad the AI is.
I'm seriously considering getting into Arma 3 but the fact that I don't have any friends playing it and that there's so much DLC you're supposed to get kinda afraid me. This "coop vs IA" (Invade and Anex) gamemode is definetly what I'm looking for but is this a mod you haveto download ? A DLC ? Are there that much active servers playing it ? Do you NEED Apex to enjoy cooperative gameplay or find servers easily ? .... Too much questions :x

You just pick one... All guns are free for the game
Depends on the game mode you play. Wasteland makes you either find/loot weapons, or buy them. Other game modes have you choose a role in the game and give you specific gear to fill that role, and sometimes you can just customise it freely.

As the AI may not be very smart, they make up in their aim, got taken out by a T100 from 2km away, when I was by my own stupidity, paying too much attention on finding threats in the sky with my AH-9 and not on the ground threats. :\

I have just started playing Arma 3 and I was wondering what my video settings should be. I was running 60FPS on medium/high on shadow of mordor. Now when I play invade and annex, I have my textures at standard and I only get 20-30fps. Should I go to low settings or something?
If you have a strong GPU, I´d crank it up. ARMA is always a processor hog, so the lower your settings, the more burdened the CPU becomes. Try to balance it out to lessen the impact on the CPU, since its mainly the cause of lower frames.

i have never joined a I&A server that gave me more then 30 fps; same settings give me 60-80 fps in SP though :-/ any recommondations on good servers?
MissVerstand3n Problem with I&A is that it is a long running mission with a ton of scripts, which hurts performance real bad, specially after having ran for quite a while. The best servers for it are probably those hosted by Ahoyworld, since they are the guys making the mod and probably have optimized it the most.

I agree with you. The AI is amazing now. They use to be, as you said, like a brain dead goldfish. Only play on that server. Friendly and always a laugh to play on.

lmao i made the mistake on a server like this of taking on a spawn location of AI and totally getting fucked instead, although going from 112 fps to 21 fps on multiplayer is sad

If you love that side of Arma so much why don't you join a Realism/Serious Arma group where they have proper OP nights and everything is extremely team based very much what you say you enjoy in arma?
