    First comment, I will be honest I was inspired to learn how to observe and deduce after watching death note. L's level of deductive reasoning motivated me to practice deducing daily. Not to mention it helps when you are doing college work.

    I really liked this video but i have an issue. You don't have to go through the same way in a mind palace every time. In fact, anthony metivier says going backwards or starting in the middle can help overcome primacy and recency based inefficiencies.

      tbh, I think he lost a great opportunity when Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were in court. (It was such an interesting thing to watch even for people like me who didn't know JD before.
      I think these sorts of opportunities are the best for him to do non-verbal analyses. Just make a vid or two and then don't post for 2 months, and keep reappearing every time there's smth interesting and controversial on a national or even worldwide level and you'll get new viewers that would eventually visit the rest of the content of your channel. And everytime you post a video they'll see that too.

    Even after learning these systems long ago, you've explained them a great deal better than the people and books I learned them from. Also, no one ever explained to me that you have to maintain your mind palace. This mini-series is proving to be so valuable. Thank you.

    This makes me so happy because it's been almost 5 years or so that I've wanted to get into doing deductions myself, and it's sometime after that that I discovered The Art of Deduction and well as Logan's Observe. Glad that you people are keeping up with it, and I hope you guys continue with it, this video was mind refreshing in that sense, hopefully will let you know how it works out for me.

    Awesome lessons, I’m learning a lot from your channel. I intend to not only learn for my own sake, but to train up my toddler, his personality makes him an outstanding candidate to be a mentalist. I’m kind of making up our own observation/recall games as we go along for now, but I’d love to see any tips on building a solid foundation specifically for young minds if you have any.

    About the Journey memory system. I've heard its best you use a familiar room, but what if i make up one and use it all the time? Or it is harder that way?

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is not recommended that you make up a room entirely from memory, the journey system needs to be based on something outside of your imagination. That can be literally any physical space or 3D digital landscape. So like I said in the video pick a place and walk through the room stopping at furniture pieces or other visually distinctive parts and sear the image into your mind, the order that you go in while walking through that space is the order you will go in when mentally “walking” through that space as your journey. Again a digital space can work as well, a free roam video game that has distinctive visuals and intricate set design can be used in the same way provided you’re in first person perspective

    • @stenledtrap5273
      @stenledtrap5273 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TangledTangent_Official Its easy to use a room that you know well like your own bedroom and my concern was mainly for when a person is constantly switching homes and places, there's often a different everyday room witch i think would make the old one less memorable, thus influence the mind palace. But this is a great solution with the digital rooms like you said.

  • @omarrafei2236
    @omarrafei2236 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So can these memory techniques work for something like a math equation, and if so how would u go about doing it??

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In theory yeah, you just have to be creative with imagining things to represent components of the equation

    • @darkghoul4049
      @darkghoul4049 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maths more about logic than memory, it’s coming from a maths lover.............
      And also NOT about your IQ, mostly about practice.

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darkghoul4049 absolutely, remembering an equation doesn’t really help much if you don’t understand the equation, but the use of a memory system to remember what variables represent and where they go in a particular equation would be similar to having an equation reference sheet given for some tests, but again yes logic and practice are essential to actually using the equation

    • @darkghoul4049
      @darkghoul4049 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TangledTangent_Official just personally, it’s chemistry that requires extensive use of memory..........
      Pretty much why I suck at it. Tho I never have to even try to memorise anything in maths, it could be a matter of interest, or something else or I dunno

  • @hivakabki620
    @hivakabki620 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    why it's always about some list of things? could you use these memory tricks with some real-life examples? like how to memorize an event, how to memorize a conversation, a text, ...

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I’m glad you asked because I’m planning on starting to phase out the traditional educational content, after the last episode in this mini series I want to start doing practical demonstrations, like body language reads, doing memory feats like memorizing the periodic table and counting cards and other fun stuff like that and use those demonstrations as a platform for teaching the skills

    • @hivakabki620
      @hivakabki620 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TangledTangent_Official Thank you, I am happy to hear that. because what are you teaching is valuable and could be effective but I watch them and I get them (theoretically, at least I think I get them) but when I am in a situation live, I don't know how to use or activate them or what should I begin with. so real-life examples could be helpful with understanding the materials better since it would be like an experience of someone else, not just theory.

    Quick question! I have a maladaptive disorder and uhmm i think. I confuse my mind palace to my disorder.
    So my question is could i really develope that kind of skill?

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the disorder. Are you talking about aphantasia? In which case a mind palace would probably be impossible, and you’d have to rely on clever auditory pneumonics

  • @thomasblack-slytherin2886
    @thomasblack-slytherin2886 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I might have missed the answer to this question, but with mind palaces, is it best to use a place that you're familiar with/visit often, or to make up your own space?

    • @TangledTangent_Official
      @TangledTangent_Official  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be any space but you have to familiarize yourself with it. Making it purely from imagination doesn’t really work unless you’re an extremely visual thinker. You can use a digital landscape instead of a physical one, but again you have to use your journey and familiarize yourself with the space
