I'd never successfully shucked an oyster before, yet had almost put the knife into my hand at least twice trying. After watching this video, I shucked 108 oysters for a Super Bowl party without injury. Thank you!
No one cares

I love straight to the point videos about food/cooking. I love charbroiled oysters and think I can do better than the restaurants
You probably do better work than restaurants, because most people working in restaurants are high on the job.
This is a better explanation than most, watching for the shell to "give" it happens quick when it happens.
I have been trying a new skill lately, shucking oysters.
Nice reward for you your efforts!
Very nice. Thank you so much. You make it mush easier than the way I've been doing it. And safer, too.
Yesterday, just for laughs, I bought some raw oysters from the grocery store. I started to try opening them and then I realized that the disaster potential was high. I am glad that I hesitated and watched this video before I proceeded any further. The potential disaster wound up being an enjoyable experience. I did however have to improvise on the oyster knife, as I had no such thing available. Thanks for posting.
Literally just stabbed myself doing this.. should have watched before hand
@@docsridingadventures2880 Ouch! :-p
Just one stitch. Old medic skills came in handy

You should try the East Hampton Shucking tool, it's the safest and easiest way to open oysters. It keeps your hand away from the knife. You won't hurt yourself.
Nice video. Clear, concise and to the point.
Thank you for posting. Very helpful with protecting the hand. I had to use a screwdriver as I don't have an oyster knife.
Before shucking oysters I like to pick up my Cell Phone and dial 9-1..... then I start to work!
Lol
😂😂
Wow! Dan sure looks young in this video!
Awesome tutorial. Got a new subscriber. Was fun and informative to watch. Great video
This is the video that finally helped me shuck an Oyster tonight. Thank you very much!

I had never shucked oysters before and this video was great! Made me feel like a real pro!!
Look how young Dan looks here! Definitely a tad more camera-groomed these days. Still, very enjoyable vid. Great tips. Thanks.

Thanks😊
That's shucking awesome.
Thanks
This video is safe and effective.
Worked for me, a first-time shucker.
Thank you
See I thought this is how I do it, but I never get them open this easily. I need a big bag of oysters to practice with now!
this video allowed me to do successful battle with a dozen Cape May oysters.
Thanks for this. I was using a fork at first lol, turns out there was a shucking knife in my kitchen and I stopped being an idiot and watched this.
谢谢您的详细讲解🙏
made things easy!
i'm such a dummy, i saw this video awhile back and was easily able to shuck some oysters I picked up and now I just got some more and couldn't figure it out. I always assume the hinge is not the place to go... i'll probably forget again and come back once more but at least it's here should I need reference hehe
There's another video that says the hinge way is the primitive way and that the oyster should be opened from the front.
For real? Or are you indulging in some double entendre ? : )
No matter how many oyster tutorials I watch, I can never successfully shuck an oyster 😢
My first time. I was able to shuck 11 out of 12. They were blue point. Not much meat. I had to double up on some of them . Thank for the video
Technique is good except for the widdling motion used on the oyster. This grates debris from the oyster and it falls into the liquor.
Does this hurt them?
what do you think?
Not as much as your stomach acids
I shucked oysters for the first time in my life tonight and it went otherwise successful thanks to this video.
Thanks.
shigoku?
I just shucked ten oysters for the first time thanks to this video
Windler Cape
