Shading in cover 0 is everything. Where’s the help. Also to note. If you shade up then Dbs play catch technique. Shade under they Play under and play trail. Cover 1, where’s the help from the safety inside. Shade outside. To funnel like Civil said. 2 man under, shade under and inside because you have 2 deep half Saftey over top. If you’re good with adjustments you can individually shade each db
Most college defensive coordinators would steer clear of calling Cover 2 when the ball is on the hash and the offense has trips to the field, it's just too much space to defend. With that being said the issue the way I see it is with the deep half Safety and his technique and to a lesser extent the middle read Linebacker. The Safety should be getting both width and depth so that he can be in better position to play routes thrown to that area of the field. In the video he's flipping his hips and running inside which is a big no-no. The middle read's job is to open his hips and run down the field between the hashes to be in position to take the post route by the #2 receiver. This gives the deep half Safety freedom to expand as I mentioned earlier.
Cover 2 is useful for 3rd and medium situations when the opponent is expecting man coverage, especially on out breaking routes from the slot. In the red zone, teams will run what's called Red 2, which is just C2 with corners in a soft squat like you mentioned. Tampa 2 is mostly a 3rd and 11+ coverage.
@@joec4685 In college teams will call Cover 6 with the 2 side to the boundary vs 11 personnel and the twins side to the field. Helps vs max protect play action, and the corner playing the flat can come up against the run.
I use cover 2 all the time. You just have to know where your weaknesses are and take that away with your user. Corner routes will be wide open if you don't take them away yourself. Have a good idea on where your opponent is trying to go and if you have to user it, then do it.
Man coverage doesn’t suck u are just using the wrong man coverage. Use man zone particularly with the linebacker in the middle of the field but u can use the one with the safety in a hook curl also as long as u know how to play your zone correctly
I'm not able to save audibles for my Def. formations. I thought they had patched this and I think it was working at one time. I am trying to save them in practice mode but when I enter a game in Dynasty mode they are back to the original.
i been doing ok at this game , but defense is a total crap shoot... no clue what defense is best to select, i just random choose from suggested, and then rush the qb every play... if i use a lb the cpu almost always will throw a pass to that guys area , and if use a db i have no chance ... i get beat by short routes mostly, only a few times has anyone been left wide open...going deep
@@kobebucketsa cover 0 OL blitz, hope your defenders play good enough man coverage, and the user doesn’t make the right read. 5 WRs means no RB to pick up blitzes. Or you can put your DBs in zones, depending on players tendencies and formation they are in. It’s a big game of chess.
@@kobebuckets I usually go cover 3 match with my corners backed up if it’s 3rd and long or I’ll mix in some cover 2 man. Occasionally I’ll go Tampa 2 but that’s risky
In this game, I think it’s best to keep it simple. Have a redzone and non-redzone defense formation. Based on your players, known your options for zone, man coverage, and blitz within that formation. I play Nickel (4-2-5) unless I’m in redzone or against run heavy formations. I have 2 zone calls, simple cover 2 man, and cover 1, and cover 0 calls. But if you don’t have corners with speed or can get to QB, those last 3 options will getting you burnt.
Depends on the formation. Cover 2 can stop it depending on the line up of the offense. Cover 3 cloud to the side of the receiver also. Cover 6 could be a great pick depending on where the ball is.
@ true but clearly there is a difference in the response of the OL AI that can’t be user controlled etc. Now if u could put yo lb ss cb n not have to user them to keep them from moving out the gap and its AI vs AI with no user assist then it’s fair and more realistic.
These videos are getting ridiculous. You can use any defense…you just need to time it right, disguise when necessary, stay off balance, and align properly to put your guys in position to succeed. Some other channel the other day said Quarters wasn’t a good defense before the patch. wtf?? I’ll concede that he does caveat: “defenses you should avoid unless you know what you’re doing”. 🤝

I like using cover 2 in the red zone. I would of like to seen you breakdown the soft squat in that section

U outta pocket for that comment he only plays COD
Needed this my defense terrible besides my user and switch stick
nice video really made the concepts clear I can finally dissect a defense.
When you hover over a player how did you turn it on so I can see what route/zone they are in?
can you please make a video how to stop five wide?
12:35 ahh, you got me with the Grant Williams reference
The only successful defense I’ve used is cover 2 man with really focusing on recruiting good dbs
