    Greetings from Southern California!
    I watch your work when videos pop up in my feed, but not so much for the world-class quality of the dendritic agates, jasp's, and the perfect specimens of wood, but rather, I tune in for your smile and sunny demeanor. See, I'm house bound, for, my little Mom had stroke and heart attack in December after hip replacement surgery, and while in rehabilitation, she caught the dreaded CV. She was not doing well and I guess she hasn't long, so I brought her home. Home to the little house she was Born into 80 years ago. Where she took her first steps, her first bites, said her first words. The house is still in the family and is in my hands, the youngest of her 3 sons. As she lay seemingly unaware of life passing by, I lay beside her and watch whatever is on the feed, and when you pop up on the tiny screen, she turns her head and smiles, and so do I. Thank you, Mrs Katy, and blessings to you and your beautiful family.

      I am so moved by your comment, Theo. Thank you for being with your mother during this time. I'm sorry life is difficult right now. I can tell your love for your mom is deep, and you are doing what you can. I, too, have three sons, and I would hope that one of them (probably the youngest :D) would care for me if I was in that state. Peace and love to you and your mom from Montana.

    It was a beautiful day, and you found some more amazing rocks! Thanks again for the great content Kate!
    LOLOLLOL!!!! You re-grew the calcite! I've never seen anyone both etch and evaporate in one container! Try HCl (muriatic), you can get it at a hardware store. Much faster, though you should neutralize with a baking soda solution after *soaking* (not evaporating!)... You're always going to get crystals if you let your solution evaporate!

    • @KatyDidRocks
      @KatyDidRocks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I may regrow it now that I know how - those crystals are purty.

    • @thirstfast1025
      @thirstfast1025 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KatyDidRocks I was thinking about it, I am probably wrong that it's just calcite re-growing. The calcite has actually reacted with the acid, not just dissolved, so the precipitate is very likely something different. Acetic acid and calcium carbonate gets you carbonic acid and calcium acetate. My guess is calcium acetate is what the crystals are!

I been bathing mine in acid and water 1-2 weeks and drying the same time, then again as needed; and find they come out pretty nice and the bands if any show well. Even discovered bands on some that didnt show any signs in the water or sun, so that was cool. Would love to know see those two in this video all cleaned up and polished or such!
