    Its good to see someone doing their roll-crimps correctly. A bit of lube, checking that the crimp has right and load not loose. A+

    *BUBBA ROUNDTREE OUTDOORS... Wade has the two ball.... three ball... and the buck and ball loads figured out. Different wadding and other size balls do make a difference.*

    I just ordered a .690 mold from Lee Precision. I am very hopeful after watching your video. Thank you!

    I would be willing to bet that the ball are obturating just enough to catch the rifling to give just a bit of twist. Might could try one of the competition designs of the .69 Minnie and see how well they shoot. I have been hunting with buck and ball load using my reproduction 1842 Springfield musket (.69 cal smoothbore) for years and have found the best patterning using 4 .451 round balls on top of the .69 round ball with a felt wad between the .69 rb and the .44 balls. I have also had good success using 3 .36 (ooo buck size) with 1 .44 rb on top of the 3 smaller balls to group decently also. I build my column as follows, powder of 80 gr of FFFg Goex or swiss, a wadding of balled paper of approximately 4x4 in size balled up and then ran down the bore, a .69 round ball followed by a 12 ga felt wad that has a mix of either bore butter or bore butter and beeswax 50/50 placed in the muzzle before the felt wad goes down, followed by the buck shot size rb or either 4 .451 dia rb or 3 .36 with 1 .4451 rb followed by another balled piece of paper the same size as my over shot wadding. All compressed nicely with the ramrod.
    With this loading I can keep the .69 rb inside a group of the buckshot out to about 25 yards. After that range the buckshot will print consistently higher than the .69 rb does due to the weight difference. I have taken deer out to 45 yards with this load but the deer was only hit with the .69 rb as I had expected and thus aimed for.

    Here in TN the ridiculous laws say we are only allowed a single solid projectile for hunting.. period .. no multiple projectiles for large game..

      That sucks I’m mainly just trying theses for fun. Hunting has me tied up for now then I’ll work up more loads and share.

      @@alwaysreloading288 I called the game warden to confirm.. to be specific #4 BS or smaller, any lead shot, and Steel T- shot or smaller is illegal... so I was a Smart a$$ and asked if I could use a single .25 caliber ball.. he said I guess that would be legal.. 🤣

      Same thing in Nevada unless your hunting mountain lion. And you cannot take any shots at the elk with shotguns.

    I've loaded a few double 69 cal in 2-3/4 hulls, man they kick! I need to upload a vid of that and many more! You'd love the cups off the lbw (light brush wad) with .125 hard cards underneath

    You might have better success with Imp Mod choke. The former owner of Dixie slugs promoted full choke for double ball handloads. These things have 20-50 yard clobber! Be well

      Since this video I purchased a new mold. I got a full bore .732 round ball mold and use my rifled choke and get very good group out to 50yds. I should make a new video of it .

      @@alwaysreloading288 you are effectively replicating Hevi Shot Hog Wild .65 buckshot which is now discontinued. Mathematically got to be the very best stopping load for any magnum 12. You already know this I am sure. Probably the best dangerous game load for wilderness North America. Be careful friend

    How do these do out of a cylinder bore?😊 I'd live to empty a drum of these out of a saiga

      Out of my Remington clone aka pardner with a fixed cylinder bore barrel they hold a decent pattern out to 40yds.

    I recently scored a .69 lee mold plus a whole bunch of smaller round ball molds. I cant wait to try this. Do you only use pure lead or will wheel weights work?

    • @jacobwilbert1018
      @jacobwilbert1018 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Soft lead would probably be better but wheel weights will be fine.
      Wheel weights will probably give you less deformation upon ignition and better penetration, but i would be careful with the round balls going through smaller chokes. Wheel weight balls will not swage down through tight chokes as easily as pure lead. Possibly leading to pressure issues or you could damage your gun, for sure ruin your accuracy. 👍

      @jacobwilbert1018 Thank you. That makes sense. I will just do cylinder bore then

    So the .69 cal round ball falls between the #2 & #1 buckshot on the shot size chart?

    • @alwaysreloading288
      @alwaysreloading288  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      #1 is .30 and #2 is .27. The 69 cal ball is .69 a lot bigger.

    • @alwaysreloading288

      For theses double .69 loads I tried a MOD choke and a rifled choke. The MOD choke did bad but for some reason the rifled choke is what provided them groups. The rifled choke dosent constrict the 69 cal ball but wondering if it’s giving them a twist dude to the gas seals.
