Great video thankyou. It was my understanding that as well as the refurbished 484s the Island Line infrastructure was to be modernised? Semaphores, bullhead rail and wooden sleepers still in situ at this late stage. I’m assuming that this is no longer the case if they’re intending to begin operating soon?
With a budget of 26 million unfortunately not everything could be changed. And besides if it isn't broken and still works why replace it. The semaphores will probably end up being replaced within the next few years anyways. Most of the budget was spent on the station upgrades and the new loop at Brading
Hasn't run under its own power since the last day of the 483s back in January. Its stored in P3 as they need the space in the depot to run the 484s under test
The trains are also at fault too. They've had to had some Modifications to the software etc. They also all need 700 fault free hours running before entering service. They get a few hours and then they fail again
They encountered a lot of problems whilst doing the upgrade works, line still hasn't been handed back either. Also the new units have been having a few teething problems so have had to had some minor tweeks to resolve those. The pier unfortunately needs major work doing to it
Great video - nice to see a 483 there too - is that the one going to the IOW steam railway? Also what’s happened to the pier? I see in other comments it’s got problems?
I think that is 483006 which was planned for the Epping Ongar Railway but i dont know if thatis still the case, 483007 is at the IOW steam railway currently
Great video. I wonder why someone gave the thumbs down ?

They seem incredibly noisy James when drawing power. Certainly louder than the 483’s.
Great video. ☺️
Wow theirs still a 483 on the main line

Maybe they should temporarily run trains between St John's and Shanklin if the pier needs more repairs.

Or to the Esplanade if the tunnel's been cleared for 484's now? I know that they've dragged one through there and back successfully.
Soon´t the line should re-open.
How comes the line has been shut for so long?

Both 006 and 008 will eventually end up at the epping Ongar but for the time being are penciled in for storage at highgate depot in London
@@UKTransport232 It’s great they are being preserved! The E&O Railway have done well out of their retirement!
@@jamesrailwayvideos4365 glad they’re not being scrapped!
@@AnthonyFurnival 483004 is also preserved on the Isle of Wight at a place called the House of chilli at Hale Common near Sandown

Sounds like its 'hoovering' the line. Unfortunately all new trains sound like vacuum cleaners these days. So boring.
