Hi Kevin! I'm trying to apply tip#1 on my opening and closing sentences. My essay is about how I'm thankful for a certain experience with my friends and how it motivated me to spread empowerment to others.
"I'm not usually grateful when someone breaks my phone. It's also unlikely that the culprit will become my best friend for the next four years"
"I'll continue to play my part in breaking mental loops, even if I have to break a phone in the process"
I was unsure if the last line felt a bit forced, any feedback?

Well, not everyone wants to be a liberal arts major at a community college. I think college admissions offices have their priorities skewed in the wrong direction if they apply the same yardstick to each candidate's application. Seriously, if someone wants to major in quantum physics or molecular genetics with an end-goal of a career on the cutting edge of human understanding of the fabric of the universe or the very foundations of biological life itself, if I were to be an admissions officer, I sure would not want to be dragged through some emotionally-manipulative sob story fabricated to draw the reader in, or shown political leadership qualities, or the candidate's commitment to social-activism, crusading for the cause-du-jour in their spare time. No, I would want to see evidence of their passion for their chosen majors, their proven ability to endure the academic rigor those majors would demand, resilience under pressure to ensure their success, and moral character to be a good citizen on campus. That is what I would look for in all STEM majors, especially if it's a Tier-1 Research University.
