Also spoiler for the comic Nolan actually is the true king of his people who had been usurped by a general Zod like character. And Nolan becomes a hero protecting earth.
"Whenever you're telling a story about superheroes, you're essentially telling a story about gods." That's a really, REALLY broad generalization. Batman's series isn't about him being a god. Nor is Iron Man. Spider-man's series is about him balancing being a hero and living a normal life. X-men is about prejudice and racism.
