Episode 8 of Star Wars: The Acolyte was SPECTACULAR!
What a FINALE!!!
I welled up with tears of joy when I learned of Leslye Headland's SENSATIONAL pitch for the show. She sold it as KILL BILL meets FROZEN to Kathleen Kennedy.
WOW!!!!
I would or could never have come up with that!!
That alone proves her worth, both to Disney and the film industry as a whole because this body of work accomplishes exactly that. How imaginative do you have to be to make that connection? This woman had better get her season two.
It will be an outrage if she doesn't!!
It doesn't matter if not a lot of people watched the show. Filmmaking is an art form, and as much as I LOVE Disney, they tend to think about money too much sometimes.
Art MUST come before profit!!
There were so many great things about this finale, but what I loved the most was the inversion of good and evil. It was so bold of Leslye to take Osha in the less obvious direction of protagonist struggles with the temptation of the dark side, but ultimately overcomes it; and no, it's not a timeless storytelling trope, it's just boring, especially for a modern audience.
So I say, "BRAVO, Leslye!!! BRAVO!!!"
I'm tearing up as I type this because I know this is it... no more The Acolyte.
However, I am optimistic about the upcoming, SKELETON CREW. In spite of all the man-babies whining about the state of entertainment, women have shown themselves to be both profitable and innovative when helming movie industry projects and franchises.
