To my eyes the Bachmann colours seem to accurately represent my memory of these coaches having grown up in the 70s!

Thanks for that. This seems to be the general consensus alright.

The WC glazing was never that colour.
Who signs these things off as correct?

The Hornby coaches are way to dark even compared to when the paint was new before they started to fade, I worked for BREL and never saw anything that dark come from the paint shop.

Hi, Thanks for that. It's a pity Hornby haven't taken this fact onboard yet.

Thanks for your thorough review. Would you be able to do similar for the InterCity livery coaches please?

Hi, I've actually just posted my review of the InterCity Swallow coaches so I hope you find that useful.

I think Bachmann is the worst. Unfortunately, in my view, Hornby is better and if you look at it. Hornby does a lot on doing on colour matching if you follow their site. I think it is unfair, Bachmann are very expensive and losing the plot.

Thanks for the comment Nigel. The colour issue has been there for a while and Hornby management know it. At £35 a coach I expect more. It's a pity as these are nice coaches and my pending review of the InterCity coaches is very positive. Ditto for the Hornby MK3 Intercity's which I particularly like.

Bachmann MK2’s are by far better coaches, only beaten by price by Hornby, but you are paying for a better product so should expect to pay more
