HOUSE ON FIRE // LYRICS
Wage war on your preconceptions
Of my exception to come
What you rely on to give purpose to you’re lifelong dreams
Of being what you’ll never become
Cause you gotta give
More than you’ve got to give
To watch it all fall
As I watch it fall away from me
Like a house on fire
And all I am turn to all I can be
Like a house on fire
Fall back on the same excuses
That you’ve been using for years
The only person that you’re holding back’s
The only one that needed to hear all along
Cause you gotta give
More than you’ve got to give
To watch it all fall
As I watch it fall away from me
Like a house on fire
And all I am turn to all I can be
Like a house on fire

Our new album #SeeWhatsOnTheInside out now! askingalexandria.ffm.to/swoti
I think your place in music is between From Death To Destiny and Like House On Fire 🔥I hope to hear that kind of music one day 😎
Thank you so much.))
Look at my babies. All grown up and sober and happy and healthy. I’m so proud.
I doubt their yer babies. This probably tops the most dumb comment of the year.
Despite the fact this sounds like a slightly desaturated version of their self-titled, which I did enjoy quite a lot, I'm still looking forward to giving this record the benefit of the doubt. Longtime fan of the band here that owns all their discography and I don't really see it in a shallow black or white type of way. I really want to like this record, hopefully. I really, really do haha.
J Morris the Review Guy I don’t see it as black or white either. But I haven’t liked any of the singles from this upcoming album, but I loved the last album.
Same i loved most of the self titled album. I like The violence and antisocialist but the others? Idk maybe they'll grow on me.
Edit: i like this one too after fully listening to it
Desaturated definitely feels like a good way to describe it. Seeing them on the last tour it really felt like Danny only gave a shit about the new songs where he could do his best Ed Sheeran impressions and this definitely feels like an extension of that. Idk if it's him feeling more comfortable in that register after straining his voice for so long but the music is not trying to compensate for the lost heaviness at all. Desaturated, watered down, Asking Alexandria sounds an aweful lot like Dannys solo stuff.
@@YodaSmokes Yeah I feel like unfortunately these are some of their weakest singles. Many of the singles from the self-titled got me pumped.
@@anthonymanuel2911 absolutely. it's beginning to feel more and more like we are harlot, if you've ever heard them. they're danny's supergroup project. that and his country work I can definitely see giving influence which isn't inherently bad if it wasn't so watered down here, lol.
The chorus saves this song. I haven’t listened to AA in about 3-4 years but makes me so happy to see them still killing it.
Took myself way too long to listen to this album. Yet you guys age like fine wine
This chorus is just GLORIOUS! OMG, one of the best I've ever heard.
that bassline and rythym is perfect contrast with drums!
Now this is the change that is still acceptable! Finally thumbs up that i give to AA since Into The Fire! Love this one!
AA changed their style to show us different faces of Awesomeness! Stoked!
🎶🎵🎶🎵🤘
As a fan for many years of AA, I don’t care for the heaviness if they don’t want to be heavy, I just want more with the band you feel, this chorus was the best thing I’ve heard from any of these singles.
Agree ! This is my favorite
Well said
slavetotheneedle1990 I always thought it would be something cool if AA went into a more diamond eyes deftones vibe
That would be rad.. That was their best album too, White Pony being a close second.
I’ll always be partial to stand up and scream but they really haven’t done anything yet that I haven’t liked
you either die a metalcore band, or live long enough to write a future WWE Smackdown theme
Bruhhhh 😂 💀
Or NXT
Killswitch did a WWE song and they're still metalcore 😂😂
Mason Johnson Yeah but that’s because you’re talking about oldschool WWE when they actually had some good music that wasn’t necessarily mainstream 🤷🏻♂️ that’s why he said future WWE lol
@@MegaNancyLover What about the song Code Orange made for Bray Wyatt?
Say what you want about their new sound, that chorus is a gem
Okay lol, their new sound is like a dumpster falling down 5 flights of stairs. Im still saying they lost a bet or something. This last album was a shit slide. And the one before it wasnt all that great either but hell at least they wrote a few decent progressions in that one. This is nothing but autotune city lol. And the bad thing is about this whole comment, i love this band i have their name tattooed on my forearm and theyre the single biggest inspiration to my own musical career. But jesus some shit just cant go unsaid.
Im honestly glad Lamb of God came back strong or id have to have given up on music
@@seizeimmunity4113 Damn man...But yeah you are totally right theyve lost their power and this autotuned turd is absolute thrash.
Honestly the chorus is the worst part
The chorus is ass
Jesus Christ his voice matured so well over the years. That chorus is so beautiful it caught me off guard. Haven’t listened to these guys since 2015.
The singing by Ben!!!!!! And of course Danny. So amazing.
This wasn't too bad my favorite so far along with antisocialist. Not gonna lie that begining I expected heavy but its still good
Why would you expect heavy lol they've been heavy in 2 albums
Vocês gostaram da música ?
The beginning is phenomenal imo.
Luke w actually 3! The Black was maybe their heaviest album
th-cam.com/users/gambaloo33
Always funny when fans expext from an artist the same music in every album. Great Job concerning creativity :-)
They expect a simular sounds from a band not the artist. If Danny wants to make this music fine but dont label it as Asking Alexandria because its not.
I was expecting not the same sound, but the same creative lyrics/writing but this is the most basic commercial rock album ever
Lets them explore different types of music. They are very talented. This is a form of art. And i'm all in!!! Fan forever
I still don't understand why people hate the new AA
I totally agree. They had to move forward and I'm loving the journey
U mean, it's not like Danny is new to the band... he just took over. Those who hate on the new AA don't understand things gotta evolve
Omg I didn't think we'd get to hear another song until the album was released on Friday! This just made my day 😍 another awesome AA song 🔥
Same! This hit home, it's beautiful!
That bass player is badass! Also this gives self titled vibes, like rise up, or when the lights go out
Rise Up part 2, great song btw!!
I was trying to figure out what song off of the self titled record this reminded me of and you nailed it! Haha
A combination of that song and Into the Fire.
@@wheelsofmercury Into the fire + High
Into the High 😂
I dig their new stuff but it isn’t the same as day one. I can still jam out to this, much respect AA!
I don’t care what anyone says, I’ve played this song on repeat for about an hour. I also sang it in “StarMaker” with my brother who was in a band (he sang covers of Asking Alexandria) and I ABSOLUTELY love them. I’ve listened to them since I was in middle school over 10 years ago....
Danny and the rest look happier than their Reckless days, still rooting for them even if their sound has changed. Been a fan for the past 8 years and still going strong
if Asking Alexandria wants to go this route, they need themselfs a Jordan Fish
Someone like Jordan Fish will bring some new air to this band, i like this idea
@@brunonascimento9633 Totally
Jordan and Oli are just totally into what they're doing and you can tell by listening to amo. This just sounds, while not necessarily bad, like dumbed down rock-pop without soul. AA just isn't talented and versatile enough to pull this off.
Broooooooo😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man😘🤣
@@hunk8299 lol
That scream at 2:23 is one of Danny's best. Also nice to hear Ben sing again
Definitely my favourite single. This is catchy, maintains that heavy sound that they became popular with, whilst also implementing new sounds and styles to their music. An overall fun track. Bring on Friday! 👍
WelcomeToMANTRA Hell yeah brother! Bring on Friday! 🤘🤘👍
Agreed! 👍👍
I agree except with that "maintaining heavy sound" comment...
idk bro Well it’s certainly no R&R heavy but it’s not completely soft, is what I meant.
I’m really liking the chorus on this song. It’s very powerful. I tell you why, Danny’s vocals have improved IMMENSELY over the last few years since returning back to AA. He doesn’t need to do these crazy screams to prove that, because I’m really a fan of the yell-screams he does. They have power and range. If you need something heavier, go to another band. These guys don’t need to prove how hard of a band they are. They’ve been around for 10+ years now. They’ve already done that. I like where they’re at
I’m so glad that you made this comment. I am 110% with you in all of that. They have grown immensely as a band, as have Danny’s vocals. Proud of how far they’ve come, and their confidence to forge their own sound rather than do fan service only.
Monarchy Of Forlorn implying their old stuff was totally innovative 😂
Monarchy Of Forlorn dude if you don’t fucking like it then beat it. Lol lyrically it’s actually more than fine. Vocally it’s a step above what Danny’s clean vocals have ever been. You don’t need to scream to be a good band. And your name is that of a shitty deathcore band that’s never gonna make it. The riffs are actually pretty sick when you break them down more. The leads are simple but fun and that’s all you need. If you want technical shit then listen to Veil of Maya, who are going down sort of the same path, but they will always be technical and somewhat heavy sounding based on their guitar work. Vocally they aren’t nearly as brutal as they were, but when you’re in your 30’s, things change, voices change and musical references widen. You’re an idiot
@@Straw_Breaker Lyrically the old stuff wasn't the best for the most part (some songs in Reckless and Relentess are lyrically great), but defining of a genre and leading it to its peak it most definitely was.
Now this is decent, but nothing AA has released on this album compares to From Death To Destiny, their best release overall on my view, nor the great ones in Self-Titled.
I 100% agree as well, I've been listening since 2010. I'd say the last several tracks have given me that powerful and uplifting energy and had me thinking to myself how Danny's voice has grown and I'm glad he took the time to experiment and decided to share it with us. I appreciate your commentary on this, was a nice read.
Personally not my cup of tea, but I’m so happy to see them pursuing their dreams and making a huge name for themselves. The scene kid in me wants SUAS era to return, but I’m glad they changed into what they want.
Aslong there are good lyrics and good riffs I have nothing against this style just like „moving on“ „into the fire“ the death of me rock mix“
Whats your cup of tea
this has the best chorus i've heard in a long time
The chorus is incredible. Can't wait for Friday 😃
I absolutely LOVE what this band has become. From “The Final Episode” to “Moving on” to this!!

Best of the singles so far 🔥
I like that they are doing what they feel is right in their hearts. Rock On Asking Alexandria! God bless!
Best single of the five.
So agree! First like that i finally give to them since Into The Fire..
Definetely!
Man I been an Asking Alexandria fan for a long time maybe they kinda switched their heavy metal style but yet hasn’t changed a bit of how good of a band they are they are the greatest band I have ever listened to before in my life love them or hate them Asking Alexandria is the best rock band ever
Absolutely incredible. I clapped at the end.
Best single by far.
I'm not going to lie, I love Asking Alexandria, but Like A House On Fire is my favorite album, these song's choruses are my favorite that they ever done, any of you can hate on it, but I think this is great
This have some Self Titled album vibes and I really like it
this is actually one of my favorite songs from them, gonna be honest
I can see how much they are loving this. It resonates so well. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
Zach Bailey Exactly. You can see their passion. Their sound change is probs my fav out of any band’s sound change. I was really disappointed with new ADTR but this easily makes up for it. ADTR have literally gone straight pop. At least my boys at AA have the decency keep rock elements in there. Saying that I’ll love anything AA do so I don’t know lol 🤘🤘👍
The pre-order was definitely worth it!
Who else has been a fan since 2009?
I'm a fan since early 2016, but damn, I really like what they do from SUAS till Now, never disappointing me
Look @ the dislikes +5% blind fangirls than u'll know. xDDDDD
The only album I didn’t like was the one with Dennis
@@WhiskeyBoots me either. It had good mysic but with Denis, it really didn't sound like AA.
@@light8228 omg dude, your pfp. I absolutely love Parting Gift. I'm still saddened that they broke up. 😔😔😔😔
This band has grown so muchhhhhhh! I'm so damn happy w this first track!
I'm really digging asking Alexandria's new sound its fun listening to!🔥
the best song of album for sure. Anxious to see this live. Please come to Brazil 🇧🇷
I don't care about the old and new shit. I'm just enjoying music. I love this band, the sound, the lyrics, everything
My favorite song of theirs, I just love the whole album, it's my favorite by far and it means a lot to me, but this song I think encompasses that set of emotions that this album generates in me.
AA is one of those very few band that exsist in the Rock Genre, that makes me wish Rock never ever dies!
This is better than their last song I like it. Adapt people with what you’re given.
no.
This song is so amazing!! The riff, the vocals, the sound is... oh shit!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Casual alternative rock that deserves to be on a radio. Tasteless, not even stuck in a head. Bleah.... ((
Danny doesn’t know what to do with his hands now that he isn’t holding a beer 😂
haha you’re so funny..oh wait,no you arent
@@kollerhajnalka 125 people seem to think so and agree, your negativity isn't wanted here anyways
Yeeeep😂
@@KrisMIW91 idrc...it wasn’t funny.
@@KrisMIW91 divine got hurt feelings. makes sense. hahaha
I want this album🔥💜🔥💜🔥
Honest, non biased review:
Good track, questionable mixing in places. The heavy riffs could have gone on for longer. Really enjoyed the ending, like a calm after a storm, very unique, haven't seen it done before in this scene.
Screaming vocals could have been stronger.
Solid track, definitely the best out of all the singles so far.
The snare is awfuly mixed, in my opinion
This shits been done 1000000 times in this scene before. Where have you been lmao.
@@DillyWilly87 Oh really? I haven't heRd it before tbh, can you tel me some examples?
All of the new singles would be kinda okay if the mixing didn't kill it
Yeah I agree with you here. Only other thing I could add is the verses are very weak but love the chorus here
Between the Hip Hop vibes and the Heavy Melodies...Damn, I'm really lovin' this!
Lets get it boys!!!!! Cant wait to hear this album live!! So proud of all of you
I’m so excited for the new album omg
This brings me SO MUCH excitement
Seeing how much they changed kinda makes me proud of you guys.
Damn AA is on fire again 🖤🖤🖤
I recently haven't heard much from Asking Alexandria, but I hope the guys in the band are enjoying their work and not getting carried away by so many negative comments.
Fuck yeah. Digging this record far more than the self titled album. Solid work lads
I'll be honest this songs been doing alot for me lately and I'm personally proud of the direction Danny has been going.
people criticizing the song that these are not heavy or that these more the same group as before, everything changes evolves, you cant not always stay in the same place you must advance, personally me as a fan since 2009 i love what they have become.
i agree i still like the old AA and the new AA he did have to change due to his injury of the vocal cords first song i heard of them was Closure when i was like 14 or 15 (im 25 now) but i will continue listening to AA
i add their old songs to my playlist and no space for their new songs. i dont wanna go to their concert anymore
how can anyone listen to that chorus and think "man, i wish it was 10 years earlier" don't get me wrong, i love the emo days too, i was literally listening to The Final Episode in the car today, but that chorus, man, that's what it's about.
Fan from 2009-2016. RIP Asking Alexandria
Danny is definitely the mvp. Love that voice
Thankfully my house remains ok, but I'm ON FIRE. Been listening to this song for like 20th time today, it's SOMETHING.
You have done a very interesting job with this album, for sure.
Big THANK YOU for not delaying the release and letting us immerse ourselves in your beautiful music in these times.
And don't mind the haters who can't seem to handle the band if it tries to develop themselves and try new things.
Much love from Lviv, Ukraine!
(please consider visiting us with a tour, as soon as all this quarantine situation cools down)
Total agree. Some people don't involve with years. Some bands like judas priest still play the same shit. I changed metal taste all my life because I envolve. And love the fact that same bands change according to the years. Its call evolution instead of playing what all bands playing
Love it so muchhhhhh
I love all the singles but this one is special. Amazing chorus.
Haters gonna hate. This whole album is amazing.
I love the metalcore elitist that cry themselves to sleep while AA writes a album showing they don’t care at all what anyone thinks.
they grown up as a man, as a father maybe.. their fans grown up too.. they can't be a forever angry teenager band.. if they go heavier, they know that they don't have capability to compete with soooo many good metalcore above them..
btw, have you heared the black? i mean all the song of that album, they try to stick in the way that a lot of elitist want it, but what they get? good album with no sell.. i know there some drama over there that makes that album and even the concert canceled, but do you really think that it's the problem? c'mon man.. money talks..
and then, if people complain about what they do, who the fuck they are? they even not donate to bring them at recording session.. back in the old good days, if you are good, then you're gonna get fame.. if you are not good enough, then you gonna get ignored.. as simple as that..
Just a talented band showing versatility. I'm not reserved to one genre or style of music. Music can be good no matter how hard it is. Lyrics also contribute to good music. I personally like aggressive, emotional music but everything this band has put out, I'm ok with... so far.
i think they won't be a legend.. they just wanna keep making music and making money from it.. that's still a good move.. if it's bad for you, don't be mad.. just don't bother to listen to them.. let people enjoy their taste.. bye
Yeye whatever..
Almost as weird as the people bashing long-time fans for not liking when their favorite band changes. Let people express their like/dislike.
out of all the songs, Danny vocals shines bright on this track!
I wasn’t a fan of the first two singles, but this track and “Down to Hell” are dope. Actually hyped for the album now.
Really? I liked the Violence, Antisocialist, and They Don't Want What We Want. Honestly this is my least favorite of the singles. It's not bad though. They Don't What We Want is my favorite.
John Lewis I must say first I didn‘t like the violence and co but after a few times listening I liked it really hard
Down to hell is awful, the lyrics are insulting the fans 'cause they don't like the new singles and the writing is bland and unoriginal.
The violence has a stolen riff from Jaden Smith.
Antisocialist completly missed with the name, I get that they were going for a wordplay, but it landed so badly. It's pretty bland and the only okay thing about it is the chorus.
Also, the mixing and mastering are not good.
@@Jkbalkan yall insulting the band and when they don't even insult you, you act like a bitch?

This album is beautiful !! Such a great rock album. Danny’s vocals are something else. Gah.
Im so obsessed with this album been listening to it on repeat for weeks😍 . this band is so unappreciated, they deserve a whole lot more recognition then what they get
They kinda had a solid fanbase but they pushed them away with their newest album
Preachhhhh
I started listening to this song and my 2 year old son started head banging. We love it. 😂😍
Actually, I grew out of the screaming shit years ago and so happy this band grew with me and many others like me. We were kids once but there comes a time to hone the voice you got. Danny... My dude got an amazing voice and he uses it well in studio and live.
i still like some screaming but i grew out of the growling and angry lyrics a long time ago. but then again, i'm already 30. most of these complaining fans, i'm sure, are still in their early 20s and still havent gone past their "teen rage" phase yet.
I agree with you is hard to see how many fans want them to be on the same line forever instead of support their musical development, if people followed them on social media they'd see how talented AA guys are, solo and in group and how they're making something they enjoy experiment with... they left behind the teenage angst and so do I.
Not saying screaming/growling doesn't have a place in music, because it does. We just have to move past the pointlessly angsty lyrics. Screaming and growling are alive and well in genres like deathcore and melodeath.
I still love that music but I like this too
Not even out of high school and still can agree, that every song does NOT need screaming. It's a cool little bonus, but it's not as, nice? I don't know how to describe it.
Im just glad to see Danny is doing so much better
