    Now, I am not sponsored by anyone. I am a free agent. I experiement with different types of gear, but I'll tell you my honest opinion about everything out there. I am not sponsored by Excalibur or Scorpyd...read on:
    Bunjie (The O.B.) is a 2010 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow. After a decade of killing deer, hogs, squirrels--you name it!--with the "stock" 20" Easton Firebolt arrows, Bunjie experimented with heavy arrows during 2020 but has since decided to hunt with 20" ProFlight arrows from Easton, for a total arrow weight of just under 400 grains when tipped with a 100 grain Rage Crossbow Hypodermic Broadhead. This keeps ol' Bunjie around 300fps. Is Bunjie retired as of 2021?
    So, I am not sponsored by these companies. I am sponsored by Friends of Bunjie! (I'm not asking for gifts whatsoever--please don't feel like you should send me stuff! But I do appreciate the support I've received over the years! I'm just trying to express my appreciation for that.)
    Once again, this channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt exclusively with the crossbow. I love it. Sure, like a lot of kids, I started hunting with a good ol' Model '94 Winchester .30-30 back in the 80's, but drifted away from hunting when I went off to college, law school, and started a family. As my daughter got older, I regained my interest in the outdoors, and I consider myself lucky to hunt on the same property today that I hunted on as a kid. I got the Excalibur Axiom crossbow in 2010 and I haven't looked back. This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...
    ...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere. A third album is in the works.
    All Hail Bunjie!

      I number and letter every arrow and nock tune them to make sure they all fly the exact same. I do this process with a broadhead attached so I get the same arrow flight or really close to it from all my arrows.

    Rich I got a commend you on the way you explain things lots of visuals that’s great.
    I have a suggestion put some 1 inch circle sticky paper on your 30 yard target. Then shoot three or four arrows at the different stickers so you don’t hit your arrows. Using your Crossbow tripod rest not freehand. Keeping in mind all your arrows are numbered you will then have a record of which arrow hits the bull’s-eye and which one doesn’t. That way there you’ll have the confidence in the arrows that you put in your quiver for hunting. This has helped me. You and Genevieve are very good ambassador for Crossbow shooting and hunting. Well done.Hope you get your bear with bungee.

    Thank you again for all the work you put into your videos Rich. You’re able to put beginners and intermediate shooters on the path to successful Crossbow shooting. I have a suggestion for you next year try to do spring bear hunt instead of the fall. Spring bear hunting is more successful then in the fall.Bear fat does not taste very good that’s the other reason why you want to hunt in the spring rather than the fall. I live in northern Ontario we have lots of bears that’s what I found over the years. Good luck on your hunt with Bungie.

    Trust me when I tell you...You do not want to be shooting a bear like a deer. A bear is laid out like a human. Go for a heart shot and you are going to be blowing out in front of the chest and never seeing that bear again, Shoot center mass and towards the shoulders 6" at most. Get on your hand and knees and look at yourself in the mirror (because what you will see is a bears layout) and your heart will be well behind your arms, Being from Maine and seeing more dead Bear than most hunters ever see in a lifetime.... I am kinda chuckling here....
    You usually state (in a way) that you are not into tuning but over the years, you have come closer and closer to what super tuners do routinely. Numbering arrows and charting. Good stuff. Makes sense.
    You will be with the super tuners eventually. LOL
    Its fun. You obviously see the upside and appreciate it.
    You just need to slide into it...like you are doing.

    • @chrisruzsa2798
      @chrisruzsa2798 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahahahaha i agree with Rich on this one if you have a well made arrow/ bolt you don’t need to paper tune this doesn’t mean you don’t need to maintain and check equipment. Making sure speed ring didn’t move or scope didn’t move ect. But to fiddle around with points and so doesn’t make that much of a difference at least it shouldn’t of does than i would say you have a serious problem of either a damaged bolt, fletch or crossbow, and no amount of tuning will make a bad bolt fly good. Unless its a vane and you need to refletch that bolt or arrow. If you have a fletching jig and other equipment than maybe you can better paper tune the arrows and bolts but if you don’t than its not really beneficial. I mean one thing you can do is try to get the blades to match the fletch but when i did that i found no difference in flight from my crossbow.

    Think of turit as bottle cap. If it needs go down turn to right like you screwing it down. If needs go left turn to right like turning cap in. If needs go up turn left like loosening bottle cap. Think bottle cap tighten it moves point of impact the way pushed it. Loosening it moves it the way you pulled the cap. Hope that helps & not confuse you to much

      @chrisruzsa2798 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a very little dab could be good. I don’t lube my rails anymore at all the servings get damaged from it and i find it does more harm than good for me, however i can see where benefits can come from lube on certain crossbows. I also see what happens when too much is used lol. Rich had that problem some point on a doe if I recall one of his older videos he had to finish her off with his knife.

    Ive never tuned my arrows for my compound or my crossbows. My arrows are expensive….and they should fly straight. Especially if you are only shooting 20-40 yds.

    • @chrisruzsa2798
      @chrisruzsa2798 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the best comment for tuning arrows. The one thing many people do is over shoot the ethical ranges you should never exceed the 50 yard range on live animals. Fine tuning for olympic or target shooting makes much more sense and it makes a huge difference but you wouldn’t even see that change if you are hunting properly.

    Is it just my perception of the angle or are you shooting downhill? Is that because you will be in a stand in Maine?

      My yard is downhill, the balcony helps with treestand simulation...and yes stand most likely!
