Old thread but I'm sure people still watch this video......great fly and these all black patterns show up great in many light/glare conditions. Try a conventional Letort Cricket also.....deadly fly...... Upstream casts in last light "glare" or on bright sunny days......
...this dry fly is my favorite adult stonefly imitation. not many fish see a black stimulator and turn it down while stoneflies are hatching. i like to use fine copper wire as a rib to protect the hackle from trout teeth. foam is easier to use than dubbing and it makes this fly float better than other stimulator patterns. thanks for watching! - mt

This is a great, helpful video! Thanks for posting it. What size hook(s) do you like to use for this pattern?
dude this is cool I learned the middle age stimulater but not adult thanks soooooo much
I tye a similar version, the only thing different is a brown body,& a touch of orage elk hair on top of the wing,so I can see it better, tight lines.
Class! How does this fish? or how does the copper & foam complement the fly? Nice job Matt, I will give it a go!
That makes perfect sense, thank you.
