Awesome video. The stimulator is for sure in my top 5 favorite all-time flies, olive and orange are my favorite colors. Late season fishing in Montana when the hoppers are active this pattern is amazing.
Thanks Chris! (I've rarely used one.) But I plan to try this one the next time I'm on the water. I'm heading out to the farm in western MD this weekend but don't expect to get any time on the Savage. Maybe next time. Also- I've got another Smokey Mountain pattern going to be online Sunday morning. Have you ever heard of a Hazel Creek? Not THE Hazel Creek which I hear is a decent stream in the GSMNP, but there's a dry fly called the Hazel Creek. It's a simple tie, but looks pretty cool. Cheers, Matt
@@SavageFlies I have not heard of that fly, the creek yes. LOL I will be looking for the video. For some reason it seems that brown trout seem to love orange stimulators, maybe all in my head, but it seems I catch more browns when I fish that color.
Thanks Dave. I followed the steps from an Orvis guide but I think a couple of the experts have tutorials out there too. Maybe Barry Ord Clark and I think Charlie Craven has a real good looking one. Definitely worth checking out! (But I appreciate you watching a small time guy like me. 😁)
Thanks Mike! I haven't done the drawing yet. I'll do it Sunday night (7/19). I'll try to send an email out shortly thereafter, but mention the winner in Monday morning's video. Also, only 17 entries so far, so your chances aren't too low. :-) Cheers- Matt.
Thanks Anthony. I appreciate you watching! I know I've got a long way to go with some of these tricky patterns but I figure after about a hundred or so different ties, I'll get there. :-) Cheers, Matt
That is a busy fly. Wow. A lot going on with that one. Sure ended up being a great fly. You are definitely going to hone some of your tying skills on this guy. Very impressive and informative video. Thank you Matt.
Hi from Rolla Missouri 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes Looks like a great Bass fly. No self-respecting small mouth could pass-up this monster. Thanks again for your time and knowledge. 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes
Thanks Matt another one I need to try!!

Perfect dry to fish a wet/nymph under. With all that elk hair and hackle it should float like a cork
Thank you!
